I tried to get it right the first time-AND DID! | | Bike Setup: | XT, Zoke, Kings. | | Bottom Line: | Rock solid after two years and a trip to West BG Virginia. With this rig you can forget about frame upgrades and what you coulda had. JUST RIDE. I can make it bob, but that's mostly the Zoke. The rear end softens your power stroke and makes it easier to maintain traction climbing the really steep/loose stuff.

$1200.00 | | Purchased At: | direct | | Strengths: | Dave Turner designed The O2 is designed to be a fast cross country bike.Perhaps even to be raced. It achieves those goals with ease.
The O2 is light but not flimsy, quick steering but not nervous, simple yet full of detail.
Quite simply it goes fast and as a bonus, is comfortable. In the three months I've had it I've been putting in more miles than ever because it is so much fun to be on. I've racked up a few PB's on several off road time trial courses and I'm waiting to test it in a 24hr race.
| | Weaknesses: | I honestly don't know what to put in this box. I own three Turners (Afterburner bought 97, Javelin 99/00 and the O2 in 01) I can honestly say I've never had a momnent of bother from any of the frames. Dave sent me a kit to rebuild the back end of my original Afterburner should it ever need doing. Getting on for four years later the back end is still as smooth as the day I got it and the rebuild kit is still in it's zip lock bag. All this despite countless mud baths and powerwashes. Put it down to craftsmanship.
If I had to pick on something it'd have to be the graphics. They are just lazer cut stickers and end up looking scruffy quite quickly, I guess the upside is you can get new ones re cut. I think I'd still prefer transfers/laquer. | | Similar Products Used: | I've owned in order two GT RTS, two GT LTS, a GT STS, A GT I Drive (what can I say, I was into GT) Most recently I've had a Fisher Sugar 1.
I've also tested lots of others (I work for a bike mag) including the Specialized S-Works FSR, Giant NRS Team and Ellsworth Truth. All have some nice attributes and some lousy ones, the Turner O2 has the highest ratio of nice to lousy, of any of them. | | Bike Setup: | Syncros headset

| | Bottom Line: | The geometry and ride of this bike feel great. The ride isn't super cushy but it is set up as a cross country bike and for me makes a noticaable diffenece. No bobbing while pedaling or hammering out of the saddle. I'm not into white knucked down hill rides or getting huge amounts of air. If that is what your are after, I would not recommend this bike. As a cross country full suspension bike, I don't think you can get much better. My bike weighs in at 24 lbs. with real rubber on the tires and no unreliable light weight parts. I believe this will be the last bike I own. I said that every time I bought a new bike in the past. I don't use that phrase anymore. I haven't ridden as many bikes as other people but have ridden enough different bikes to know that I have got this one right. Before I bought my Turner, I did some homework and called Richard Cunningham at Mountain Bike Action and got a general concensus from him and his fellow editors about a light weight, cross country, laterally stiff, 3" travel full suspension mountain bike. Of the three bikes they recommended, they favored the Turner as being overall the best. I whole heartely agree!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
