Strengths: Everything about this bike!Weaknesses: the rear shock blew up on me once, I sent it back to rock shox and they sent me a brand new one!Bottom Line: This is an awsome bike! I love soft-tailed bikes now! I would suggest this bike to anyone!
Favorite Trail: the one I haven't ridden!

Strengths: The Stp is light and fast. I have used it for one year and have had very few problems with it. I live in WV so it takes plenty of abuse.Weaknesses: The only complaint I have is the bontrager crank. This crank is a piece of crap. I replaced it with an XT.Bottom Line: This is one supa fly bike. I raced it for a year and never had to drop out of a race for mechanicals. This is a tough bike. It was not designed for anything else but xc racing.
Favorite Trail: any with rocks and roots

Strengths: Very nice bike. You get what you pay for.Weaknesses: noneBottom Line: If you ride a lot and are getting tired of a sore rear end, but are still not wanting to go to a true full suspension bike,this bike is for you. I race almost every weekend and if a racer is riding a full suspension their worst fear is the bob in the rear, this bike has no pivot arms therefor it is just the frame flexing and you wont get the bob. This bike is geat!

Strengths: Light, smooth, nice geometry with long top tube, suspension design delivers on intended use for XC rider/racerWeaknesses: Disappoints downhillers and obsessive super light freaksBottom Line: The OCLV STP line bridges the gap between a hardtail like the 9.8 and a FS bike like the Fuel lineup. Mine's fairly light, although the frame adds over 1/2 pound compared to the 9.8 hardtail. It climbs as well as a hardtail and provides relief and improved handling on bumpy trails. It will not take big hits any better than a hardtail or bomb down hills as well as a FS. Setting this bike up for downhilling would be foolish because no matter how much you geek it, the rear triangle's pivotless design will still be limited to 1.25 inches of total rear travel. This bike is smooth, quick, and responsive. If you are a XC racer riding longer courses and looking to reduce fatigue while still getting hardtail performance, this is your bike. If you're a weekend warrior partial to hardtails but want a smoother more dampened ride without the weight and loss of rigidity of a FS, consider saving a few bucks and getting the STP 300 or 200. They're all the same OCLV frame but with a slightly different Rock Shock SID on the rear and more durable and cost effective components (read: heavier too). It's not a flashy bike that creates conversation, but who's talking when you're leaving the FS riders behind and the hardtail riders are too worn out from bouncing all over the trail? I give it maximum chili's for intended use but it ain't cheap.

Similar Products Used: Many hardtails and FS, but then nothing's "similiar" to a carbon fiber Trek STP except maybe the titanium Lightspeed and Ibis designs which I've never tried.
