Strengths:    The Tange Prestige frameset is solid. The rear triangle connects to the bottom bracket via large sealed bearings giving the rear end about 1 inch of travel, just enough to soften the ruts at high speed.
The dropouts and other components are Ritchey and I thought this was a Ritchey FS until I learned about the Scott FS.There were no decals on the frame except for the Scott Tange Prestige decal located near the bottom bracket.
The Scott Unishock VF has about 2 inches of travel and was sued to win the World Championships. The Unishock smoothed the trail and did not bob during climbs or sprints. There was no noticable sideways flex during hard, tight turns.
There was a recall of the forks. The forks have seperated or cracked according to the recall but there's no further detailed information. My guess was riders affected had exceeded the fork's capabilities doing some high drops, thinking that the Unishock,or others like it will take the drops.I'd like to get more detailed information on the shock's failings.

Weaknesses:    There is noticable sideways flex from the rear stays during high spins and the rear feels like there's a slight flat but I'm used to it.There is also chain slap and the chainring rubs the XTR derailleur.Further adjustment of the derailluer should solve this.

Bottom Line:
For a 10 year old duelie,I'm very impressed with the ride of the Scott. No pedal feedback from the rear shock/swing arm and no bobbing from the Unishock during climbs and sprints.Bike is very comfortable and is light enough to climb. It's a very good looking rig despite the scratches and it's part of my vintage mountain bike collection.
