Favorite Trail:Glaven
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:The shop i work at
Strengths:Good climbing bike for its travel.
nice rear suspension in a vertical manner.sometimes it is harsh. good jumper and bunny hopper. i have a 16" its small and compact.easy to throw around.
Schwinn Fixed the 2000 gusset problem on the back side of the seat tube. they now have added a extra slab to reinforce it, see if it works i guess. Good frame in my opinion, good rear shock, hayes are good, titec components are fine, and nine speed is nice but finicky. the grips are good. geometry is good.a stable bike in almost all conditions. THe stock HOT S tires are the sh!t. How ever they have thin side walls.this bike rips with big tires.
Weaknesses:Pslyo SL is a bad fork who ever heard or a single sided sprung 5 inch travel fork. gonna get a sc shiver mmmm shiver... With a tioga 2.1 tire in the rear. when shock goes through travel tire buzzes carbon cross brace...hmmm.the trunion mount that attaches to the shock has some play not much but some and it has not worsened.
Similar Products Used:2000 four banger with a z1 cr and sid rear shock, i liked it, it felt like i was riding on flat tires.A 98 m2 that was used for xc racing and much of the same riding i do now except at a slower pace without drops. its a good bike.
Bike Setup:Originally this bike did not come with a quick release seatpost. the clamp stripped out and i took a schwinn fronteir Qr and barreled it throught the threads. it works. Flat S&M BMX pedals got to love those. After messingup the OEM laser disc WTB XC wheels at killington i invested an rhyno lites, 14g spokes and laced them up useing the same hubs. bad boy wheels.replaced the tires with Tioga 2.3 front, and 2.1 rear. other than that it is stock. gonna get a MRP longe range patrol ithink.
Bottom Line:I am able to raise the seat, keep with the racers to the top of the hill. drop the seat, and easilly rip down anything i desire. 5.5 inches rear and 5 in the front is fine for me. fox shock is good. with those wheels this bike can take a beating they are excellent and have yet to touch them in the past two months of riding.20-25 psi in the tires makes this bike fly in everything. To bad schwinn is STB makes me wonder about warantee, but i work at a shop so you never know. I am still in debt. good bike. excellent climbing freeride bike. it is a blast for urban as well. very stable ride, easy to muscle around. it was gonna be this or a big hit kinda wish i got the big hit,due to the unforseen demise of scwhinn. but this bike still rips and is a excellent bike over all i am pleased with this bike andhave no major regrets. it is fun.
