Strengths:Great Suspension for Freedriding, Looks sweet, Versatility (within freeriding)
Weaknesses:Weight, Flex in the swing arm does not instill confidence when racing
Bike Setup:Junior T, Mavic DeeMax, Intense 909, Azonic 454 Cranks
Bottom Line:The RM6 frame is a great frame for freeriding. It handles drops and technical terrain very well. I also take it dirt jumping quite a bit and it performs well on the trails. My only complaint is the swingarm flex, but that only really shows up at speed on rough terrain. This a great freeride bike, but a pro DH racer it is not.

Strengths:- Thrust link is awesome, superb plush travel giving you the confidence to go big
- Looks Awesome, candy red and black looks superb
- Pedals well for a bike of such size and can handle everything
- Super strong frame made of easton rad (the same aluminium Banshee Screams are made of)
- And did i mention its a rocky (chicks love it)
Weaknesses:- Slight play in the swingarm but nothing noticeable
- Expensive (this is a case of you get what you pay for)

Strengths:built very well, strong, great customer service, made in Canada. not by little kids. killer geometry, very plush
Weaknesses:slight sway in the rear, not bad for freeriding, but it's very unsettling while racing
Similar Products Used:kona stinky
Bike Setup:rm6/7, stratos lr-1, atomic wheelset, race face crank, hayes 8", king h.s.
Bottom Line:i bought new linkage for the rear, wich now gives 7" travel. great feel at 6 and 7 inches. very tough frame, takes a beating. im very pleased with rocky mountain products, (friend is very pleased with slayer). great customer service and quality built. this bike is great for both xc/fr, freeride and downhill, i've seen this bike set up for all. the sway in the rear never bothered me unless i was nuking down some rough terrain, and even then it wasn't always too bad. some play came from the hub, making it worse than it needed to be. all in all, a great frame.

Strengths:Great bike the travel seems to suck up almost anything you throw at it. I have yet to bottem the travel out, even when i hit a 25 foot gap didnt even budge the suspension. Thrust link is just awsome.
Weaknesses:I dont think this bike would have been as bad as it was if I had bought it at a different shop. I have replaced everthing on this bike exept the seat rear shock, brake levers and calipers. It was definatly beat on before i got it. not enough travel for me anymore

Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:pyslo fork, 8 inch roters, race face crank fsa bb, rf seatpost sun rims and hubs
Bottom Line:good bike if you didnt buy it after someone beat the crap out of it and you had to replace every componet on the bike. handles anything you throw at it and its too bad that Rm got ride of the bike.

Strengths:really plush with fox rc, nice size frame in small, great feel to it.
Weaknesses:rear suspension seems to bob a little bit. bolts come loose maybe once a week, head angle slant,
Similar Products Used:rm7, stab,
Bike Setup:Upgraded libnkage plates to allow 7 inches with the Fox RC, 2001 super t, Xt, Raceface dh cranks and bb, doublewides, gazzalodi 2.6 , funn bar and stem, hope DH 4's
Bottom Line:Ultimately I cant believe this setup, I took a risk in buying the frame used, and putting hardtail parts on it but it turned out, I had a 2001 Norco 250cc, and the parts are a perfect match, in both performence and looks, I was dissapointed however in the headangle but thats something expected on downhill bikes, Great FRAME though!! I wouldnt buy the bike stock if my life depended on it!

Strengths:The frame is super strong and looks awsome. super sensitive rear suspension that normally will never bottom.
Weaknesses:Stock parts suck. The following parts have been replaced, Fork (bottomed out real bad even with new oil and springs) BB, cranks, handle bar, tires, seatpost, and rearderailer. A bit of annoying movement from the rear. Also the suspension front and rear was just awfull out of the box. The fork would bottom off of two foot drops with a load metal on metal clunk. the rear could be bottom by dropping my butt onto the seat, rocky wouldnt help with that... and i had a 900lbs spring, the whole thing just sucked.
Similar Products Used:super 8 bullit ac1 rm7 slayer stinky giant dh team
Bike Setup:1999 boxxer (tomarow i get my shiver!) 2000 race face, flow components rm7 link plates, vanilla rx rear shock, turbine dh cranks, race face cromo bb, rhyno lite wheels, mrp, xt rearderailer, azonic bars, rocky seat, rocky stem, 2.65 kujo tire front tire, and hayes discs.
Bottom Line:I was dissapointed with the felling of the bike when i got it. but the boxxer made it a little better. Also anyone who owns an rm6 you should turn it into an rm7, (flowcomponents@hotmail.com) it feels SO much better. I love the bike now, but before it sucked... but it seems like rocky figured it all out in the 2002 rm7s.

Favorite Trail:off my roof

Price Paid: $3000.00
Purchased At:Mikes bikes berkley they suck buy somewhere else
Strengths:This bike is strong. I did a 12ft to a very little incline and nothing happened. Suspension is awsome.
Weaknesses:This bike is not a sprinter so it isnt the best choice for races. My bro has an Intense M1 and that is way faster. SRAM parts sucks i breakk them all the time.
Similar Products Used:Intense M1 and Rocky Mountain Pipeline
Bike Setup:Junior T and just stock parts. And dont forget the love seat.
Bottom Line:If you are a guy who likes to huck off cliffs. Nothing bender size like 60ft but 20-30ft this is the bike for you. It is great for tricks like supermans and things because its so stable. I remocommend this to all freeriders who like to go big and all around. Not the typical race bike But racing might not be your thing.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:Lakeshore Bike
Strengths:Smoothest suspension you can find. Supa dupa strong frame. Rocky name. Way cool glitter paint job. The ECC on the Z1 is the coolest thing in forks. Did I mention the extremely buttery smooth suspension?
Weaknesses:Sram and Rocky components are pretty weak.
Similar Products Used:Stinky Dee-Lux
Bike Setup:From stock I've change: Azonic bar, Race Face XY post, replaced the Sram with XT, Sun ZuZu pedals, XT rear hub, Alex rims, and a 1050lb spring.
Bottom Line:This bike is rediculous. It will make your balls grow 10 times in size just sitting on it. The suspension is flawless. Way smoother than my roomies Stinky Dee. Pedals uphill pretty good, just make sure you are in the little ring, otherwise you'll be bouncin the whole way. I've done 7 feet to flat and didn't come close to finding the bottom. It just goes forever. Trail riding has become a dream. It laughs in the face of roots and rocks and just begs you to go faster. I am convinced that this is the ultimate freeride bike.

Strengths:customizability, ride, smoothness.
Weaknesses:stock needle bearings, rear tire size, slight flex in swingarm.
Similar Products Used:Bullit, Kona Stinky Delux, Balfa BB7, Giant, Cannondale
Bike Setup:Started with frame only. Boxxers (from Jr. T's), Grimica system 8 with 8" rotors, xt derailleurs, XT splined cranks, shorty stem, mavic 521 and Alex rims, Gaz Jr.2.6 front Maxxis 2.35 Mobster rear.
Bottom Line:Updated the rear shock and custom link plates, now 7.5" rear travel. Upgraded bearings to sealed cartridge 3 stack at pivots. Boxxers made the biggest difference (20mm axle, super stiff). BMX axle in the back stiffened things up. The ride is undescribable, better than before. Climbs good, chain never falls off when downhilling. Very stable at high speeds, gives huge confidance on jumps. Your balls will grow a few feet on this bike! Custom paint to come, cannot think of anything else to improve the bike. Maybe a 20mm rear axle, next year. Anyone wanting a quality bike should get a RM 7.(no more RM 6's)

Purchased At:Earles, price varies because i dont know us/can
Strengths:Well lets see
Frame, Fork, BB, Brakes, Tires arent that bad
Also i had an accident the summer and they warrantied it within 2 weeks.
Weaknesses:SRAM went, Rims kinda garbage, headset, stem, bar, and Cranks are getting worn fast
Similar Products Used:Bullit
Bike Setup:Stock except Sram is now XT and Headset is replaced. My stem is stripped but im too cheap to replace so i fixed it up.
Bottom Line:The Bottom line is its a wicked bike. Good company and well made bikes. The only problem is is that the SRAM blows, but rocky fixed that in 2002 and the Rocky components arent that good. Stem strips easily and bar is too narrow. Cranks are just about shot and rims are gettin there. Other than that the Frame, Fork and Brakes are working fine. ECC broke tho.

Date Reviewed: October 17, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $300.00
Strengths:-very plush, soaks up everything
-fork, brakes ans frame are the best you can buy
Weaknesses:Some of the stock parts are not very good, like the rims, sram parts, and the rocky mountain parts. But these can be replaced without much trouble.
If you ride hard every day, like me, the main pivote on the swing are will come loss a little bit, but it is really easy to fix, if you just keep it well maintained you won't have any problems
Similar Products Used:bulit, pipline, vps
Bike Setup:when all the sram parts broke i put xtr on it(nothing beats xtr), new easton bar, truvativ cranks( the race face ons that came on it will no last that long if your going big, truvativ aren't that go either but i couldn't afford good raceface cranks), and Mavic rims are a must D521, this rims are crazy i haven't trued them since i built them, and i put them through a hard time.

Bottom Line:I work at a bike shop that deals giant, rocky and norco. when it came to getting a new bike there was no other choice, RM6!!. It rides like a dream. the design of this bike make so plush, but it still pedals up everything. You can ride any trail you like and still go really big. As for the swing arm, it dose flex a little bit when you are going really fast over really technical trail, but it nothing major. i don't know about the 2000 rm6, but the 2001 it un-stopable, I think it would take a lot of really big hits to kill this swing arm. the stock bike need a little work but nothing big. I would recommend this bike to anybody that what to do it all with one bike.

Strengths:Hayes Hydros are sooo sick!! I love the cranks, rims, tires, and almost everything else on this rig!!
Weaknesses:lots of chain-slap, sram components (I got rid of them), handle bar (rocky mountain), rear supension makes noises (not a big problem), but everything else is totally sweet!!!

Bottom Line:This bike has got to be the best freeride/DH bike for the price!! The supension is so sick, especially with a junior T on the front ( 6" & 6" of travel). This bike wants to go big, and It makes you go bigger than you thought you could!! Take huge drops repeatedly, sweet on the skinnys, great on the descents and steeps, and it even climbs good!! Favorite Trail:Upper Oil Can
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $2800.00
Purchased At:The Bike Company
Strengths:Great suspension. Rear sucks up anything in the trail and has never let me down. The Z.1 has to be the best single crown freeride fork on the market. The rhinos were a smart pick as well. The frame is bombproof. Drops are not an issue. Despite amount of suspention the bike can still climb. It's 38lbs but I can still climb anything on it and it gets me in better shape.
Weaknesses:None really...but the swingarm has some initial play as the piviot above the BB kept coming loose. Nothing a little locktight couldn't fix. I recommend it to anyone who has a similar problem. Besides that I just wish Rocky would stay away from Sram...that junk is gone. Accept for the Casset. The chain snapped within the first week! I gave Sram a chance and it dissapointed. The pedels could use an upgrade too. For the money 545 arn't too much to ask.
Similar Products Used:Read a review, had my mind made up and never looked back.
Bike Setup:Mostly stock. The sram shifters and horrible 9.0 R.Der are gone replaced by XT. An 8'inch rotor up front has also been added. It made all the difference. Ohh yea and thos ODI lockon grips are great I highly recommend them.
Bottom Line:This is definately my dream bike. I'm originally from L.A a place not at all made for this bike but it performed great there. It climbed very well. It decended anything. Now I've taked it home to the North Shore and it loves it. Only my ability holds it back as I make the adjustment from dusty fireroad to muddy ladder bridge. For those with a sick downhill bone in them who still love the burn of a good climb, this is your bike.

Weaknesses:the price you pay for the components that comes on it,lots of upgrades needed. the max size of tire in the rear is limited especially if you try to run a 24" rim....can't do it.

Bottom Line:This bike is by for the lightest and toughest in it's line, I can ride everything possiable and still surive. The seat post(R/F prodigy) bent riding up, could not slide it down and That Sucks. Rear shock is too plush for such a bike, and you have to keep the bearings pacted tight. Bike Setup:01 Jr. T, Grimica system 8 with 200mm rotor, shorty stem, 2.65 tires, Rhyno light in front, Vuelta dh in back, xt derailluer, bla bla bla
Bottom Line:Great bike! After putting the shorter stem on it, it woke up. Can rail the corners at speed comfortably, and take bigger drops. Extreemly plush downhill! The backend loosened after one month break-in. Then again two months later. I took it apart myself, to see how everthing works. Gave it good grease, and it is super stiff, with no play for a couple of months now. You only have to loosen one side (left side) to tighten up the swingarm. Great design, there is adjustment for break-in and wear, so the back will never have any play. I was nervous about all the pivots, but this design makes for a variable ride, soft to stiff. My only complaint about the bike was the swingarm until I figured it out. I am only giving it four chilis for value, because a bike at this price should have a better rear shock.

Favorite Trail:Rose Hill
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:Spoke'n Motion (frame only)
Strengths:very stiff & strong frame
very plush suspension
ride feels bombproof
Weaknesses:main pivot bolt loosens almost every run
a lot of play in the rear linkage despite full bearings
Similar Products Used:RM7, Giant AC1, Pipeline, Specialized Big Hit
Bike Setup:'01 Jr.T, Blackspire Chainguide, Doublewides, Husselfelts, FSA, 8" Hayes
Bottom Line:This is a great bike for freeriding and the frame is strong enough to take big drops and handle DH. If you're not racing DH and want a bike that won't let you down, get the RM6. But be aware of the pivot loosening up when you push the bike hard. I didn't have any major problems with the pivot so far, but taking of the chainguide every 3 to 4 rides on the chairlift just to tighten up that bolt really sucks.
I'm giving it a 5 for overall, but only 3 for value, because rocky still wasn't able to fix that damn pivot.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $2500.00
Purchased At:Bear Creek Bicycle
Strengths:Balanced suspension that can take big hits! Killer fork and rear linkage. Climbs very well seated for a bike not designed to climb.
Weaknesses:The stock handlebars and SRAM gripshift/plastic rear derailer.
Similar Products Used:Tried them all!
Bike Setup:Went to full XT/XTR and got rid of the gripshift. Added Easton Scandium DH bars. Put on a set of platforms and chopped the seatpost.
Bottom Line:I come from an XC background with a lot of interest in the DH and Freeride side of it. This bike has opened my eyes to fast, solid, crazy big riding. It crashes well and takes big hits even better; for only having 6" of travel it does awesome on the downhills. I would recommend this bike to anyone is the DH/Freeride market. Rocky Mountain fixed all of the things that have been wrong with this bike in past years making it a great package for the money!!

Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:Arrowsmith Mtn. Cycle
Strengths:Bearings instead of bushings. It's a Rocky Mtn.and Canadian made. Climbs good if you keep seated.
Weaknesses:None yet and probably won't!!!!
Similar Products Used:Pipeline, Stinky Deluxe
Bike Setup:2001 RM6 with Super T's,XT drivetrain,Raceface North Shore cranks,B/B,headset,bars.Hayes disc brakes 8" rotor front. Rokko 240 DH tires.
Bottom Line:If your looking for an awesome freeride bike and have the cash, then this is the bike to buy. To get this I traded my Pipeline in, paid more and got the Super T's up front. Will take whatever you throw at it. Bought all the other components seperately so can't say how their product is. Climbs good if you keep seated. This bike will give you the confidence to do more. Will post later to let you know how it is going. Buy this bike it is well worth it.
