$1800.00 | | Purchased At: | Cove | | Strengths: | Makes me look good commuting to and from work, nice flames on it, never breaks when i do huge air and land without it, makes me look good, i think i meantioned that already, has really made me a faster rider, my friends don't have to wait for me in the parking lot any more, well not for too long anyway, oh yeah, i look good in the parking lot too!. The red paint makes it easy to find in the bush when i fall off so i have been able to try big big air,(Over 3 feet) i almost landed clean twice in the year i have ridden the bike, have recently done a few night rides and am happy to say the bike handles just as well in the dark, with my helmet and handlebar lights i look good after the sun goes down too!! | | Weaknesses: | Wearing a helmet really messes up my hair, the bike has in the last 6 months developed some creaking noises that no one else seems to be able to hear, i have spent tons trying to find the problem, replacing the headset greasing anything that moves found out it was a really cheap fix after all that, now i wear a full face with ear plugs the bike just purrs down the slopes, my balance has been off lately though due to a previous ear plug that i pushed in a bit to far, now that its been removed im sure my air time will be huge again and ill be doing tabletops at whistler again, hopefully landing some of them too! | | Similar Products Used: | stinky deluxe 99 | | Bike Setup: | fat tires funn seat crow bars jr t 6" chain tensioner funn stem, flames, decals | | Bottom Line: | I love this bike, i think it loves me too, after all the abuse and unhappy landings, unusual squeaks and groans we are still together it still looks great, im sad they don't make them any more, you have to get one if you can, look out for me and my crew on the slopes, ill be at the back, if im in front then they didn't wait for me again thanks guys!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2200.00 | | Purchased At: | Earls Cyclery,Burlington,Vermont | | Strengths: | This Rocky is the best bike that I have ridden, it soaks up the bumps and huge dropoffs like they weren't even there! This thing handles like a dream, and the Fox is the best. | | Weaknesses: | There is really only one, the shifters. The Sram shifters suck. Other than that the bike is top notch. | | Similar Products Used: | Rocky Mountain Pipeline, Gary Fisher Joshua F1, Specialized Ground Control, Kona Stab Deluxe | | Bike Setup: | All factory for know. | | Bottom Line: | All I can say is this is the sweetest bike that I have ever ridden. My compliments to Rocky Mountain for there dedication for making these TOP OF THE NOTCH, MOUNTIAN SHREDDING MACHINES for diehard mountain bikers like me to rip on. Anyone who is a serious mountaian biker should really look into buying one of these great rides, they'll never be sorry they did. I am very satisfied with the RM6 and would not settle for another bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2000.00 | | Purchased At: | Silent Sports, Toronto | | Strengths: | Sweet squishy ride! No more absorbing with your arms and spine!! The brakes rule, the Bombers handle everything and the Fox is great. Everything is easily adjustable. Bike stays under you down anything and absorbs those annoying rocks and logs that would stop you dead on a uphill with no suspension. | | Weaknesses: | Grip shifters suck and the bar grips slip off. The cranks aren't the top quality you expect from RaceFace. | | Bottom Line: | It is all about fun and this bike delivers! If you can afford it get it. If you aren't planning on racing competitively X-Country then quit complaining about how heavy it is and how slow it is uphills cause you forget it all on the way down! Anyone would enjoy this bike. Fence sitters should get off and come to Full-Suspension, I am never going back! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2400.00 | | Purchased At: | Trail Blazer cycle,Toronto | | Strengths: | GEOMETRY, Looks good, rides great, rocky's own components are holding up well, suspension unbeatible*, climbs amazingly for a FS bike, LOVES TO GO DOWN ,great brakes......lovible oh yeah, it's CANADIAN | | Weaknesses: | *If I ever replace the rear shock, I may go for a FOX FLOAT, just so I have lock out as an option. The SRAM half pipe set up from the factory was TOO WEIRD for me.I tried for a week and ended up getting XT shifters and a new XT rear deraileras well, much better
| | Similar Products Used: | Klein Mantra, Giant Warp,Intense tracer | | Bike Setup: | Factory, other than the XT shifters and derailer and I replaced the big ring with a Kooka Crank Case rock ring and I'm currently shopping for a 36 tooth center ring to regain some of the lost top end | | Bottom Line: | Fan-f***ing-tastic ride, it's FUN FUN FUN, which I beleive is the POINT. And really, compare this to a mantra race or the Intense with comparible components, I think it is money very well spent | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Vancouver, BC, Canada Date Reviewed: March 15, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | Tested or demo'ed only | | Strengths: | design and plushness Canadian - value | | Weaknesses: | flex? if you think so, go and try the bike and see if there is any! The bike is fine | | Similar Products Used: | 99 Norco VPS1, 99 Rocky Mountain Pipeline and the 98 Rocky Mountain DH race | | Bottom Line: | The RM6 at Rocky Cycle bike shop in Newton was stock just as you would find made by RM.
The 16.25 inch frame, looked sooo small. but actually it was the correct size for me (5,8'). // There is a rourmor that the Thrust link flexes well, truth be known, all fullsuspension bikes flex's. From the GT "i" drive system to the foes weasl. The RM6 is made after a motorcycle rear end (the singleswing arm design) the flex i hear everone talikg about is mosty the rear wheel.
The common test when people check for flex is to grab the rear wheel andpush it side to side, (bad test all it tells you is that the 10mm hub axle does not have enough surface area in the dropouts), happens on all bikes f/s and hardtails, to some extent.
But I say you must not get caught up what people say about it, you have to go and try it out to get the feel of it. You get my drift?
- Adrian p.s. I can assure you, if you are not a hardcore froridin junkie, you will not have to worry about that design.

I don't consider myself a hardcore freerider, but I am heavy and strong and the bike couldn't handle it... too bad, because its a slick handling machine. It's a 2000 bike. anyhoo if you spend your time goin down get it! the rm6 DH is better just buy some x-tra chainrings. from North Vancouver Date Reviewed: February 15, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | All NS trails are bliss | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | This one has it all - the coolest frame on the planet, indestructible - plush active rear suspension, Z1QR20's can handle anything. The Hayes discs give superb stopping power in all conditions and are very consistent. You always know the power you're going to get and they allow you to carry your speed so much further before breaking for a turn. XTR V's don't compare to these, especially in NV riding conditions (wet and steep). | | Weaknesses: | None really. Some may prefer bigger rubber but that's a personal preference trade off - lower weight for climbing versus downhill performance. | | Bike Setup: | Stock, except for Shimano shifters and Rear-D for instead of SRAM | | Bottom Line: | The bike is truly awesome. Not only is it a work of art but it rides as good as it looks.
The most surprising strength is its climbing ability. Rocky have managed to load all the freeride goodies onto this one and still keep its weight reasonably low. Pedal circles and it won't bob when your climbing. The rear suspension will just track smoothly over every bump and obstacle.
Once you point it down hill you will be amazed at how far behind you leave your friends.
This bike is worth every penny. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Prescott, AZ Date Reviewed: February 9, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott, almost anything with dirt. | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | I bought just the frame and built up the rest. The bike is amazingy. It works very well and absorbs anything from small to large hits. It climbs like no other 6 inch travel bike I have ridden. Minimal bob. Really nice cable routing and tire clearance. Awesome craftsman ship on both the welds and machining. Nice removable front der. mount. Very nice action throughout the travel. I find myself stopping just to look back at the obsatcle it effortlessly smoothed out for me. Way fun. | | Weaknesses: | Not as laterally stiff as I would like, although not a real complaint as full suspension bikes seem to have to sway a bit side to side. Also, Rocky Mountain seems to be sold out of them for 2000 already. If you want one and find one don't hesitate to get it, as it may be gone sooner than you think. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized FSR, Santa Cruz Bullit | | Bike Setup: | Mix of Xt and XTR components. Hope disc brakes/ hubs (these work way to good ) Rock Shox Boxxer fork | | Bottom Line: | If you can find one, buy one. You won't be dissapointed if you are looking for a fun too ride no holds barred FS bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The demo was a small and I'm 6'3" so I won't comment on fit, to me it kinda felt like a heavy springy BMX bike, it did however climb surprisingly well, similiar to the Stinky but lighter (part due to the Mich Wildgripper Hot S tires - they seem to stick like glue in the snow). In the single track it wasn't too bad although it seemed to really sag into twisty corners but I write that off to a lighter weight spring in the rear shock than what I require, I'd love to try one in my size to have a truer test but I was impressed. I am thinking of a full susp. next year and until now I had figured that the Stinky might be my best choice but I will keep an eye on future reviews to see how the RM6 handles the test of time, for now 5 flaming tongues | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

This is a sweet ride by any comparison. The lowdown on why Wade busted that bike that everyone seems so choked about on this review page: yes #1 it was a prototype #2 "Non-penetrating welds in the rear swingarm" and #3It was Wade Simmons; the guys a lunatic. That comment about him bending race face cranks--reality check in my circle of friends we/ve bent over 20 pairs--they are strong, but not that strong, buy the new RF North Shore XS cranks, they kick a**! Here's some more local gossip, the only reason Digger put that shot of Simmons breaking the prototype, was because Rocky Mountain wouldn't sponsor the video and he knew it would be terrible PR for the new bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I also remind the jury of the event that occured earlier in that same scene where Wade Simmons crashed into the brick structure with his frame's bottom-bracket area. I think this had something to do with the fact that the bike borke later.
