The brakes rule, the Bombers handle everything and the Fox is great. Everything is easily adjustable. Bike stays under you down anything and absorbs those annoying rocks and logs that would stop you dead on a uphill with no suspension. | | Weaknesses: | Grip shifters suck and the bar grips slip off. The cranks aren't the top quality you expect from RaceFace. | | Bottom Line: | It is all about fun and this bike delivers! If you can afford it get it. The bike is fine | | Similar Products Used: | 99 Norco VPS1, 99 Rocky Mountain Pipeline and the 98 Rocky Mountain DH race | | Bottom Line: | The RM6 at Rocky Cycle bike shop in Newton was stock just as you would find made by RM.
The 16.25 inch frame, looked sooo small. but actually it was the correct size for me (5,8'). // There is a rourmor that the Thrust link flexes well, truth be known, all fullsuspension bikes flex's. From the GT "i" drive
system to the foes weasl. The RM6 is made after a motorcycle rear end (the singleswing arm design) the
flex i hear everone talikg about is mosty the rear wheel.
The common test when people check for flex is to grab the rear wheel andpush it side to side, (bad test all it tells you is that the 10mm hub axle does not have enough surface area in the dropouts), happens on all bikes f/s and hardtails, to some extent.
But I say you must not get caught up what people say about it, you have to go and try it out to get the feel of it. You get my drift?

The Hayes discs give superb stopping power in all conditions and are very consistent. You always know the power you're going to get and they allow you to carry your speed so much further before breaking for a turn. XTR V's don't compare to these, especially in NV riding conditions (wet and steep). | | Weaknesses: | None really. Some may prefer bigger rubber but that's a personal preference trade off - lower weight for climbing versus downhill performance. | | Bike Setup: | Stock, except for Shimano shifters and Rear-D for instead of SRAM | | Bottom Line: | The bike is truly awesome. Not only is it a work of art but it rides as good as it looks.
The most surprising strength is its climbing ability. Rocky have managed to load all the freeride goodies onto this one and still keep its weight reasonably low. Pedal circles and it won't bob when your climbing. The rear suspension will just track smoothly over every bump and obstacle.
Once you point it down hill you will be amazed at how far behind you leave your friends.

The bike is amazingy. It works very well and absorbs anything from small to large hits. It climbs like no other 6 inch travel bike I have ridden. Minimal bob. Really nice cable routing and tire clearance. Awesome craftsman ship on both the welds and machining. Nice removable front der. mount. Very nice action throughout the travel. I find myself stopping just to look back at the obsatcle it effortlessly smoothed out for me. Way fun. | | Weaknesses: | Not as laterally stiff as I would like, although not a real complaint as full suspension bikes seem to have to sway a bit side to side. Also, Rocky Mountain seems to be sold out of them for 2000 already. The demo was a small and I'm 6'3" so I won't comment on fit, to me it kinda felt like a heavy springy BMX bike, it did however climb surprisingly well, similiar to the Stinky but lighter (part due to the Mich Wildgripper Hot S tires - they seem to stick like glue in the snow). In the single track it wasn't too bad although it seemed to really sag into twisty corners but I write that off to a lighter weight spring in the rear shock than what I require, I'd love to try one in my size to have a truer test but I was impressed. I am thinking of a full susp. next year and until now I had figured that the Stinky might be my best choice but I will keep an eye on future reviews to see how the RM6 handles the test of time, for now 5 flaming tongues | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

The lowdown on why Wade busted that bike that everyone seems so choked about on this review page: yes #1 it was a prototype #2 "Non-penetrating welds in the rear swingarm" and #3It was Wade Simmons; the guys a lunatic. That comment about him bending race face cranks--reality check in my circle of friends we/ve bent over 20 pairs--they are strong, but not that strong, buy the new RF North Shore XS cranks, they kick a**! His ride was a *PROTOTYPE*. ON top of this, Wade Simmons is Wade Simmons. If we all rode like Wade...you get the picture. Race Face cranks are the best cranks in the market and he also breaks a lot of those:)

I did a lot of research, and this bike seems like the best choice if you don't live in california where there are about 50 long-travel bikes to choose from in every bike shop.
