$800.00 | | Purchased At: | Bike2Build | | Strengths: | Light, just enough rear suspension without throwing away leg strength when climbing, beautiful looking, not stiff-it feels good running over bumpy terrain---its smooth. | | Weaknesses: | 1" steer tube is going to be difficult to find when I need one. I don't want to pay full price for a SID, but may have to in the future if I can' find one...oh well I'll enjoy the 1" SID I have on it, and possibly rebuild it! The rear suspension needs to be lubricated often, but its not too big a deal. | | Similar Products Used: | Fisher procalibur, Caloi, | | Bike Setup: | Dave's speed dream wheels, Morati cranks and M-bar, paul levers and brakes, precision billet front and rear derailleur, moots post, precision twist shifter on the left, and sach extreme on the right, kenda klimax tires, king headset, Time ti pedals, blackspire rings | | Bottom Line: | If you can find one in good condition, pick it up, its well worth it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1400.00 | | Purchased At: | MTB review classifieds, where else! | | Strengths: | Very lite for a steel bike. Timeless design and Ritchey quality. Unique, out of production makes it a rare bird on the trails...fast,fast,fast. | | Weaknesses: | Hope I don't bust the rear shock...bikes out of production...good thing I live 15 minutes away from Tom. $3500 for a new one!!?? Kill that noise. | | Similar Products Used: | DeKerf ST...KHS's don't count. | | Bike Setup: | Nothing special...all XTR, Ritchey. Sun/Ringle 0 degree wheel set. 1" (yes one inch) Rock Shox SID SL's. | | Bottom Line: | Don't make it anymore, had to get it used. I like the rare and hard to find stuff anyway. I've had nothing but fun with this ride...worth every penny. I'm pushing bigger gears and getting both up and back down the mountain faster thanks to the Ritchey. Red, white, blue fade paint job is classic Tom all the way. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from atlanta, ga Date Reviewed: March 28, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | all of em, bear creek | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | Light, Forgiving, Lightning Quick Handling. Lifetime Warranty on the frame. Good Component Spec. | | Weaknesses: | Original Rock Shox Judy SL too noodly for me. Gained a pound with the Marzocchi Z.2 BAM. Much Nicer after that. Lifetime Warranty on the Frame. Can someone just warranty a frame without telling you the only way it will get warrantied is if you ride in your driveway. If you abuse your bike they will not honor the warranty. Don't feel bad Tom, everyone covers their asses with that sentence anyway. | | Bike Setup: | ST with XTR build. Z.2 BAM 3 inches front, 1 inch rear, Body Geometry Sport saddle. Maxxis Helter Skelter Tires. | | Bottom Line: | Great Race Bike. Quick. Fast, efficient. Don't fall asleep at the wheel or you'll eat it. I almost flew off a cliff at Tsali, NC by using too much body english in a turn. Carves singletrack like no other. It's a RITCHEY. Now I'm even cooler because mine isn't made anymore and Tom has finally given in and gone to 1 1/8 inch head tube. I've got a 1 inch head tube. Is that a good thing for me? better start stocking up on the high end 1 inch headsets. If you want a singletrack bike that's fast and can double as a race day machine and an all day cruise machine get this bike if you've got the cash. The Mystique will cost you. 4 chilis b/c the price killed me. 5 chilis for the ride. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
