Date Reviewed: April 2, 2005
Favorite Trail:Independence Grove
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $150.00
Purchased At:target
Strengths:bike still in 1 piece
Weaknesses:pretty much everything but the tires. I had to put 400 dollars into makin this thing ride worthy. I only put that much in because the parts are compatible with my cannondale. Weighs a ton and the chain is always stuck
Similar Products Used:A wiener dog, My neighbors cat
Bike Setup:racing seat, rox shox judy tt, shimano deraileurs, a real downhill seat, a new chain, and disk brakes.
Bottom Line:This bike is terrible. It weighs 50 pounds and steers like a drag racer. The shocks are as effective as a pogo stick. Come on, just buy a real bike from a real bike shop.

Favorite Trail:castle rock loop
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Target
Strengths:Looks... people think it's an expensive bike.
Weaknesses:heavy and derailers suck...unless you like 3 speed bikes. the front and rear shocks have about 1/2 an inch of travel - if that.
Bike Setup:dual suspension, y-frame.
Bottom Line:This bike got me back and forth to school (about 4 mi. each way) for 3 years, but when I took it to the hills it performed like a 500 lb. sack of crap. it was heavy and the gears didn't shift properly which stole my momentum for the up-hill climb. the components are shimano - suprisingly they didn't act like it.
Good bike for beginners and pretentious wannabes

Favorite Trail:Kingman's Farm
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:The evil place to get a bike, ToysRus
Strengths:The Water Bottle that came with it.
Weaknesses:Weaker than bubble wrap, frame is ugly and weak, none of the components worked correctly, have to manhandle it just to get it to steer. Can't get a good feel for the crank, blew out the rear shock on the first ride, it' a leadsled. To summarize it all, everything. When the water bottle holder broke when putting the water bottle in, it was a bad omen.
Similar Products Used:plastic big wheel(Stiffer than this bike) Basically nothing like it, as for real bikes-Giant Warp DS1, Rocky Mountain Element Race(Test rode) Giant Rainier.
Bike Setup:What setup it only lasted one day.
Bottom Line:This bike is a disgrace to all kinds of bikes. I would rather bring a Carbon Fiber Road Bike to my local trail, and it would probably beat the living daylights out of this poor excuse for a mtn bike, heck, I would rather bring a big wheel on a trail sooner than a Pacific. Pacific is evil, evil I tell you! I would rather ride a recumbant than to ride another Pacific.

Favorite Trail:the trail straing to the garbage can with this bike
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $95.00
Purchased At:Wal-Mart
Strengths:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA hoh hehe!! Are you joking!

Pleasing to the eyes of impresionable garbage men!!
Weaknesses:Doesn't fit garbage cans!
Similar Products Used:Matel 3 wheel trike, Klein Mantra Race, all duel suspension yeti's
Bike Setup:frame only after 1 ride
Bottom Line:This bike should be burned! If one evens considers this riding the crap the should be duck taped to the bike and thrown into a river. This is a pitiful excuse for any cyclist. If U are buying it for a relative, don't or u will never see them again as they will certainly kill themselves on the first ride. Good bike for an enemy. Send one to Osama Bin Laden!

Favorite Trail:anything in the dirt
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $225.00
Purchased At:Sears (where america shops)
Strengths:Inexpensive beginner bike, a good bike if you want to see if you are going to like the sport. However, this is not a $4000 downhill rig as some of you morons on here might think. The frame is good frame to collect quality parts on for a real bike as you develop a love for the sport as it uses standard mounting (like a real derailer hanger and threaded bottom bracket) for good components unlike similarly priced bikes.
Weaknesses:Components as a whole-but look at the price tag. A good zokie fork costs twice as much than the whole friggin bike.
Similar Products Used:Trek Fuel-XTR all the way (which by the way was bought as a frameset and used components collected on the Pacific as I could afford them)
Bike Setup:Stock Frame, zokie XFly 100, Chris King Headset, XT Cranks and rings, Race Face Bottom Bracket, XTR shifters, brakes, derailers, and cassette, Sun Rhyno lites 32 hole with DT 15/14 butted spokes and XTR Hubs, Bontrager stem and bar, Yeti grips.
Bottom Line:Excellent bike for phat tire sidewalk pounding. Would probably last forever if kept outta the dirt. Decent beginner FS XC bike for the money but don't expect it to last forever (Look morons this is America. Ya get what you pay for) Don't expect to do drops off of your house and it survive.....that's not what its made for. If thats your thing go buy a Freeride rig. I don't think you will swing one of those for under $300 being as a zokie shiver front fork starts at about $1295
I give this bike 5 flaming dead horses across the board just because of all the people comparing VW's to Rolls Royces on here................... Get a grip!!!!!!!!

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $199.00
Purchased At:sears,where america shops
Strengths:it has two wheels with tires, capable of being moved, aluminum frame can be recycled.
Weaknesses:deceives purchaser with promises of performance and happiness, basically satan of the bike world.
Similar Products Used:wish i could say anything here.
Bike Setup:foolishly bought a mega range rear cassette thinking the climbing ability would improve (satan whispers so sweetly..)
Bottom Line:after commiting the sin of purchase i've been in the lowest reaches of hell of mtn. biking. any who read this please learn from my torture. this "bike" (satan) will only lead you away from the true path of happiness, which all americans know is spending mass amounts of cash at the altar of choice, otherwise known as your hobby. GO BIG OR STAY HOME, the battle cry of the wise. Oh yeah, don't waste your cash on this thing, go to a bike shop and spend some cash and enjoy something real.

Favorite Trail:Everywhere
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $250.00
Purchased At:local toy store
Strengths:Looks!
Weaknesses:Everything!
Similar Products Used:Nothing this cheap.
Bike Setup:Stock, meaning a lot of alloy/ steel crap.
Bottom Line:My Aunt bought this bike on sale because she was afraid to consult with me about buying a new bike. I own a few Specialized FSR's and an Uzzi Sl, so she know that I don't even look at no name brands. I rather recommend a low end name brand bike than the highest end no name brand. Talking about a tongue twister. Anyway, months later she told me about the new bike and she was having problems with it. I went over to check it out and sure enough I was appalled. Not the fact that it was a Pacific, but rather the way the mechanic put the thing together. I am talking about backward wheels (treads), vertical barends, backward/ wrong side gripshifts, brake levers too high, low pressure tires, too long cable housings, and poor shifting. I wanted to go back to the store and kick the mechanic's a**. They ripped her off big time, giving her a discount on cheap bike tools and a Camelbak wanna be hydration system made things worst. The tools they sold her broke and stripped when I used them for a complete over- haul. And the water system leaked like crazy. I wasted a whole day rebuilding the bike. The next day I took it out for a spin and d*mn, it was the worst POS I had ever ridden. The rear shock didn't do anything. The front shock rebounded so quickly after rolling off the curb, I thought it broke on me. After a couple of times around the block, the derailleurs started doing funny things. I just gave up at the end. She will have to live with that POS, not I.
This bike can have some potentials if tuned on the regular basis (after every ride). Recommended if it was put together the right way and you only use it for street riding. Not recommended if you are looking for a long lasting decent performance, quality full suspension.

Favorite Trail:Beach to Ojai
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $120.00
Purchased At:Toys-R-Us
Strengths:Well...the price, looks, fun to ride and that's about it.
Weaknesses:FORKS BOTTOM OUT, too many stickers, and a mean sound out of the crank or rear hub or both.
Similar Products Used:Never
Bike Setup:Stock with some minor tweaking of rear shock.
Bottom Line:Well, if I turn out to love mountain biking I will move up or drastically tweak this bike...if I hate it I will have found out without sinking too much in to it.

It really is fun to have the thing to ride on the weekends...I mean I'm not a crazy off-roader (in the Land Rover that's another thing) so it will work fine for me.

REAR SHOCK TWEAK: I Opened up the cylinder and added a small amount of synthetic 10/40 which reduced the air volume and boosted the response and gave a better seal of the piston. I also added a large nylon bushing at each end of the coil spring to smooth things out. This was a 100% improvement over the stock setup.

Purchased At:u.s. K-MART
Strengths:really snazzy looks, long travel suspension, cool tiger stripe on the side, neat lime green color
Weaknesses:the whole thing, even the the neat looking frame design. The weak little welds make me want to cry, and not to mention the breakage factor, the p.o.s. flexes and breaks everytime i look at it. what a piece.
Similar Products Used:any other k-mart bike ever invented. all their good for is roof toppin'. This thing is really heavy also.
Bike Setup:all stock, but i had to substitute the lopsided handlebars(they were that way when i bought the thing) for the other NISHIKKI version.
Bottom Line:This thing is a heavy piece of trash. I would be better off buying a single roller-blade wheel, and trying to ride around on that, then continuing to ride this hunk of junk. I came to america because i thought that there was a gleam of high quality livng about it. After i saw this good-looking-bike at K-MART, i just coulnt resist. i had to buy. After i rode the bike for a little while, i boke the lopsided handle bars, so i phoned the company who manufactures the thing, and for some reason, they just couldnt stop laughing at me. They couldnt comprehend the fact that i even bothered to get it fixed. Anyway, i am moving back to Tajjikistan soon, because i simply cannot accept to live in a country where such trash is sold. It should be illegal to sell these pieces of trash.

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $325.00
Purchased At:sam's club
Strengths:I sure look cool on this bike, I get lots of stares from the local riders. the bright blue matches my blue helmet.
i like to lay the helmet back to help sun my forehead. as my mullet dangles from the back. I feel superior to the other "so called riders at the mall". The reflectors really work well, which is good cuz it always seems cars are trying to run me over. People are always impressed to find out that i paid over $300.00 for a bike. they know I am serious about my cycling.
Weaknesses:People for some reason want to try and "toss" it. I am not sure why

Date Reviewed: April 19, 2000
Favorite Trail:anything that's not muddy
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Strengths:I guess the frame is okay, a bit heavy though. Adjustable rear suspension is neat, but it always seems too weak.
Weaknesses:Rims, deraillers, cranks, shifters, rear suspension often times is not strong enough, brakes, stem, bar ends, and DAMN the fork to hell!
Similar Products Used:Specialized 2000 rockhopper, Gary Fisher Aquila, Mongoose (I have forgotten which one), and Schwinn Moab
Bike Setup:Stock as far as I can tell.
Bottom Line:Basically my friend bought this bike recently to get back into biking. Talk about a P.O.S., everything about this bike is horrible, from the componentry to the fork. I hate this bike! After about an hour of riding the fork and stem snapped. This was just normal riding, most of it on paved road, considering my friend had just gotten the bike and was still getting used to it. We took maybe 10 small jumps and the fork snapped. I personally would never have bought the bike in the first place, but my friend saw something in it, perhaps it was the illusion of a decent full suspension bike. Don't buy this bike; don't even ride it.
