Date Reviewed: October 13, 2000
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:rozen&minz
Strengths:the handling is very good, especially when your going downhill.the fork is very accurate but still givs you a safe feeling.the manitou magnum looks plain but works like "dream" with a nice travel that take you almost anywhere.when going up..min' of power loss..i was realy surprised

Weaknesses:the brakes ar...well- just replace them before even riding an inch.
Bike Setup:brake levers-schimano "servo-wave action" 98.
brake calipers-tektro mt-21
cassete-11/32 9 speed
pedals - clips
shifters - deore lx
rear tire - hutchinson "alligator gold" 26x2.00
Bottom Line:i was the praod owner of a "nail trial" 98...(hard tail)
then i trade them for the d.s "alpine trial"
is't just so much...better in so meny ways, realy.
you can go much faster and safer going d.h, and the ride itself is much smoother, you can think about techniq and ride style while u go..
i gust love them
and i started to ride evry day !!

Favorite Trail:goat farm
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:lightweight, price, 5in travel
Weaknesses:subframe snapped, bars are too weak, pedals snapped, grips wear too quick, stem too long, cant put big tyres on without trouble, spyder forks
Bike Setup:spent 700 to make it a semi dh\freeride bike
Bottom Line:i put 2.7 tyres on and the forks are bad with them and i cant use the small front chainring anymore. i put a b17 subframe on and that gave 6in of travel and im putting x-vert dc 5in forks on. it has azonic bars\stem, dh pedals and lx parts. this makes the bike way way better. the only reason i kept this bike and upgraded it instead of selling it and getting a new dual disc bike was because the frame is soo sweet.

Date Reviewed: July 27, 2000
Favorite Trail:ALL OF EM
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:For 750 quid you get 5 inches of the plushest sit up and beg rear travel ! Unbeatable value.
Weaknesses:The lack of disc mounts on the frame make for troublesome upgrades. The group set could be a little higher, I found that the Alivio rear mech was not behaving at times.
Similar Products Used:I have ridden the Shorline trail, but for £200 more the Alpine trail is a much better buy
Bike Setup:I ride it with a low saddle and flat pedals, for duel and jumps.
Bottom Line:£750 is a lot of mula , but you get to experiance real full suspension fun . No longer do you have to swerve to miss that log in the middle of the trail just ride over it.
