from Ridgecrest, CA USA Date Reviewed: January 3, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Purchased At: | 500.00 | | Strengths: | This bike is a great start for an average rider?.You have and bike that works with you and has good braking. The components are decent so that you do not have to replace them very fast. I would have to say for price I think you can?t go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | Weaknesses: | The one thing I would have to say is the back shock is crummy? you have not adjustments and the spring is really the only thing working. The front forks are a little soft and need to reworked and that is all you really need to do the bike. | | Bike Setup: | powertools hubs, head set, bars, cranks, and DS2-XC sunrims, RST front forks, and I put a FOX vanilla RC rear shock and tioga 2.30 tires great for DH.......... | | Bottom Line: | the bottom line is change the shock, forks and the tires maybe and you got your self great ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$550.00 | | Purchased At: | bikeswholesale.com | | Strengths: | Full Aluminum Alloy Suspension frame, Quality Shimano Deore/ Alivio components, mechanical disc brakes, Front shock has visible level indicator to match sides, Not overly bulky, break away replaceable derailer hanger, Very high quality for an extremely affordable price!!! | | Weaknesses: | Rear shock not rebound adjustable and no lock out, should have 'clipless' pedals instead of lack of stick platforms. | | Similar Products Used: | First full suspension bike I've owned | | Bike Setup: | 2001 FXT SPort, KHS branded bars and stem, Shimano Deore rear derailer, Shimano ALivio front derailer, Shimano Deore shifters-27 speed, Sun crank, Grimeca System 7 front/ rear manual disc brakes, Grimeca brake levers, SR Suntour SG92D Front shock-100 mm, DNM DV22 Rear shock with floating piston- nitrogen charged- adjustable preload, Sun DS-1XC Rims, IRC Mythos XC tires. This setup is 100% stock, description from mtbr.com is incorrect. | | Bottom Line: | If you want a full suspension setup, with quality components, and features of FS bikes over $1,000, you can't miss with this one!!! Excellent suspension travel, adjustable preload, and all for less than $600!!!!! You can't beat it with a stick. Only problem...2001 model, so quantity is limited. If you are a budget minded, weekend warrior in the woods, this is the bike for you! Even if you work your way up to a more serious rider, you will be able to easily update the components to more high end pieces at a later date (you'll break the originals anyway). This is not a bike for racing right out of the box. If you want to retire an old beater and move up into a full suspension bike and don't want to pay more than you need to...get this bike!!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
