Date Reviewed: November 21, 2000
Favorite Trail:earthquake ridge
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $270.00
Purchased At:universalcycles
Strengths:responcive to pedal input(fast) Rear air shock. little to no bob. active rear sus. helps traction on steep climbs. cromoly fame steel the only way
Weaknesses:heavy with my set up its 29lbs (my fault heavy rims) Lil' bit of flex in the rear
Similar Products Used:gaint rainer, acces, raliegh m80, gt i-dive(sucks)
Bike Setup:Z-4 flylight air,xt bb rear derail, lx brakes fnt derail, bontragger crank, titec bar and stem, rino lit rim ft 0 degree xc rim rr, panraccer xc pro tires
Bottom Line:I love this bike. The accelarates better than some hard tails with loads more traction. Awesome "alive" feeling of steel. The next bike I get will be a cro-molly fame. I've ran this bike in some real tek. trails and it handles great aborbing the trail like a sponge. great bike for trail riding/ light free ride. Use light componets and would be possible to race xc with a 25 lb bike. I'd buy it again great bike.

Submitted by MIKE HEGGIE a Cross Country Rider from BROWNSVILLE,TEXAS,USA
Date Reviewed: July 9, 2000
Favorite Trail:RIVERSIDE
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:LOW INITIAL COST AND DURABILITY.
Weaknesses:NONE YET
Similar Products Used:SPECIALIZED FSR, GT, JAMIS DAKAR
Bike Setup:XT FRONT, XTR REAR, RINGLE RPM WHEELS,XT CASSETTE, ENGLUND AIR CARTRIDGE IN JUDY T2 FORKS, PRECISION BILLET BRAKES.
Bottom Line:THIS BIKE HAS BEEN RIDEN 50 MILES A WEEK AT LEAST FOR 7 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS. INITIALLY IT WAS DELIVERED WITH A LOOSE BOLT IN THE SWINGARM PIVOT. THIS LEAD TO PREMATURE BUSHING FAILURE. THE BIKE SHOP I BOUGHT IT FROM WAS USELESS FOR GETTING NEW BUSHINGS. FINALLY I WENT DIRECTLY TO KHS & THEY SENT ME AN ENTIRE SWINGARM ASSEMBLY BECAUSE THEY WERE AFRAID THE SWINGARM MAY HAVE WORN (CLASS MOVE). BUY THIS BIKE IF YOU ARE AN AVID XC RIDER AND LOOKING FOR DURABLE BIKE. I'VE RIDEN MANY OTHER BIKES IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE BUT HAVEN'T FOUND ANY BETTER. IT CAN BE BOUGHT FOR $650.

Submitted by Howard a Weekend Warrior from Northern, NJ
Date Reviewed: April 13, 2000
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Great price, Great components.. Looks great
Weaknesses:None.. yet..
Bottom Line:I bought this 99 Pro for half of the original price - after taking it out a few times, I would have payed the full price.. its a great bike..

THe only thing I did was install my XTR Brakes (i had them from my other bike) - and it didnt need it really..

I'd highy recommeend this bike.> I've seenit for about $900-1000 on various websites, and I'm sure LBS's will have it for that cost as well...
