Strengths: Although it weighs in at 31.75 lbs. it still feels light. Fox Vanilla was set up perfectly, Rock Shox Judy TT work fine, never bottom out, Formula QR front and rear disc breaks, great tires, Shimano Deore...should I go on? Oh yeah, it looks awsome!Weaknesses: The only weakness I could see are the standard pedals that come with strapped toe clips.Bottom Line: Anyone who has something negative to say about this bike or that it's not worth the money should have their heads examined. Name one bike with name brand parts like this bike at this price! That's all I need to say.

Strengths: Burly, solid feel in the roots and rocks.
Suspension feels plush.
Steel sucks up the vibrations.Weaknesses: Stem sucks.
The fork is a bit on the flexy side.Bottom Line: This bike feels good to mob on the S-track, climbs good, somewhat slow in the climbs(Prob. the human factor). No bobbing. The susp. feels solid and sucks up the terrain that would otherwise slow you down. People dog on the brakes (MG-1 Formula's) in the Disc brake rev. section, but if you spend the time to dial in the adjustment they seem to work well with the stock pads. I do plan on replacing the stem with a 90mm 0 deg rise kalloy, adding BP-Stealth Carbon Risers and a BP-Stealth Carbon seat post. This should reduce the 32.5 Lbs a small amount. Bike seems pretty responsive and holds a line through the rough stuff.
For now I will give it a five chili rating because it's a fun bike that seems rather forgiving and doesn't require too much work to keep where you want it. I recommend for anyone who wants a bike that is fun to ride and doesn't want to break the bank. Not North Shore material but it will get you through most terrain within the resonable mechanical limits of the parts spec. If I have any future problems I will repost.

Strengths: First the fact that I got disc brakes for under $1000.00!!! This bike is a smooth entry-level dually. Lots of adjustment both front and rear. Clean look and feel.
Weaknesses: It is very heavy, but I dont climb many hills so its ok.
I changed the SRAM shifters after the second ride to SRAM 9.0 halfpipe models and rear derailer to the same. I didn't like the "feel" of the small shifters or it's indexing. Front derailer hits chain under EXTREME flex.Bottom Line: I don't think you can get a better deal for the money! I never heard of Jamis until last year but the owner of my LBS swears by them so I figured "What the hell!" I picked this up as a "leftover" and got a great deal. I know I could have spent more $$$ and got a SLIGHTLY lighter bike but why??? I ride almost all long distance rail trails and the occasional single track at Patapsco State Park near Elkridge Maryland(nice park).

Similar Products Used: I demo'd a TREK Y-1 and a GT I-drive 5.0 Both of these "felt" as heavy and didn't have discs.
Bike Setup: Since I ride more distance (railtrail) than single track I kept most things as purchased EXCEPT: a ZOOM adjustable stem, SRAM 9.0 halfpipe grip shifts and rr derailer, Bontrager REVOLT SS tires, Blackburn sp 2+ seatpost rack w/ pannier bars.

Strengths: -Fox Vanilla coil-over is very nice
-Frame has similar geometry to the Comp(I tested that too)
-Deraillers are okay
-SRAM Attacks are good as far as gripshift goes
-Nice Hutchinson tiresWeaknesses: -Damn,it's porky(32 pounds!!!)
-Chromoly frame(steel only works for hardtails)
-Formula disk brakes and Suntour crankset suck
-RST 381 fork sucks the big one!!
-Feels REALLY slow off the mark
Bottom Line: Although this bike might be nice to those who don't offroad hard,serious riders should just move up to the Comp(@$1100--A really awesome bargain).It has more than enough substance for most riders(XT/LX,Manitou SX-LT fork,Fox Vanilla air shock,Titec/Avid,and weighs about 28.5 lbs...come on,for $1100 that's really good).
The Sport desperately needs a diet,the Formula disks and Suntour cranks are pretty crappy,the RST fork REALLY sucks(feels like a pogo stick--I bottomed the POS twice, just riding in the bike shop parking lot!!),and it doesn't feel light at all,not even under power.Okay,this bike isn't a total bust--the deraillers are decent(Deore),the tires are pretty good(Hutchy Chameleons),and the Fox Vanilla rear is the BOMB!!But the Rockhopper A1 FSR has the same shock and deraillers,plus a Manitou Magnum fork(okay),a quality aluminum frame,and looks and feels WAY nicer!
Bottom line:Do yourself a favor,save up and buy a Dakar Comp!!!

Strengths: Fox Vanilla shock, feels light under powerWeaknesses: Cheap brakes, 32.5 lbs!, RST forkBottom Line: You get what you pay for. Nothing else. The brakes will squeal forever if they are not broken in properly, and are no better than rim bakes. I also had to get rid of the RST fork. This is the worst fork I have ever ridden.
The bike is also very heavy, but it does not feel like it when you are riding. The Fox Vanilla shock performs great and is set up perfectly for the bike.
The bottom line is that this bike is for beginners only. I rode it hard and broke a chainstay after noly two and a half months! Really! I got a full refund back from the company towards an upgrade in their line, but it has ben a major pain in the ass.
