Favorite Trail:Silver Star Mtn
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $875.00
Purchased At:bicyclebuys.com
Strengths:Component pkg. Technical descents. Price.
Weaknesses:Service outlets apparently sparse due to ltd retailers of product, though I've yet to incur a problem.
Similar Products Used:Specialized FSR XC Comp
Bike Setup:Judy XC 4", Fox Vanilla 4.5" w/ 4 bar linkage, LX 27 spd, WTB hubs, rims & tires. Size large.
Bottom Line:Love it. Arrived by mail this summer. Trained for/ rode in the 24hrs of Adrenalin XC at Silver Star which incl a 40 min ascent then 25 min return over some fairly technical single track. I am a novice-intermediate rider and was rarely slow enough to pass on the downhill with this bike. I weigh 200lbs and it seemed hungry for more. It is a fairly efficient climber for one w/ 4.5" rear travel and quite stable on the dh. I looked at the Giant NRS3 and others but am glad I bought this mail order blind date.
Who should buy one: People like me (as descr above).
Who shouldn't: Hardcore pros would want a slightly lighter/ faster bike (though she's no slouch).

Date Reviewed: August 9, 2001
Favorite Trail:Any challenging trail
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:The Bike Zone
Strengths:Excellent value, strong and light frame, excellent component package, Rockshox Judy XC and Fox Vanilla R both work excellent, good brakes
Weaknesses:front fork needed tune-up and re-oiling, but worked great after, tires not designed for more extreme riding
Similar Products Used:none, but I have 3 other bikes( also with reviews), 200 Cannondale Jekyll 3000, Yeti ASR and Intense Tracer(used with family, not all mine, Cannondale is MINE)
Bike Setup:Rockshox Judy XC front fork (4 travel), Fox Vanilla R rear shock(4.5 travel), Hayes mechanical disc brakes, Shimano deore, LX and XT drivetrain. Alloy frame
Bottom Line:Excellent value and great overall package of suspension, frame and components. NOT MADE FOR EXTREME RACERS OR COMPETETIVE RIDERS, more for weekend and casual riders. Still durable enough to take extreme conditions, but if u are a very serious rider, spend some more cash for something more durable. excellent cross country bike, absorbs bumps well, but not great for downhill.
