Strengths:    Value point...moderate components at great price

Weaknesses:    None

Bottom Line:
I bought this bike used after riding a hardtail for several years since getting into mtn biking. It's a huge step up over my hardtail and has allowed my riding to improve. I've had no problems with any of the components, but I'm not as heavy as some (140lb). Frame is reasonably light. Given the quality of the shocks, I'd not recommend it for big drops, particularly with heavy riders, unless you upgrade components, but they've been entirely adequate for me. For the price of the bike, I think the components are good and the value is outstanding. Great for a beginning or intermediate XC type rider.

Strengths:    Excellent bang for the buck, versatile geometry/handling, and what I thought was a bullet-proof frame and swingarm

Weaknesses:    I didn't think this frame would ever be mentioned in the 'weaknesses' section but I'm without a ride for I don't know how long yet because the frame broke where the pivot point is welded on. The stock Mozo was kinda cheesy but they had to keep the price down somehow. Up until the frame died it was a great bike!

Bottom Line:
I've always liked Haro's bikes. I used to ride their BMX stuff and the 2001 EX1 is my third Haro MTB, or maybe I should say was...(see 'Product Weaknesses') My opinion and this rating could change depending on how the warranty/customer service side treats me. Stay tuned...

Strengths:    The frame... Solid frame, I've ridden this thing through Big Bear, Banff, Colorado Springs, Moab, and Austin with no complains.

Weaknesses:    Just like ALL lower end bike setups, the components. But just like high end components -- THEY'LL ALL BREAK!!! So just replace as they break, if low on dough.

Bottom Line:
Bought the Haro when I needed a bike to ride on a weekend run -- when I was getting my Uzzi tuned up and fork swapped.

If you are strapped for cash this would be a good bike to start with, or get into riding with. I have an Uzzi SLX, but love riding the Haro to the edge since it was soooooo much less. Plus just like any bike, tune the rig the way you ride and you'll be fine... After all, when you get passed up it could be your neighbor's kid on his Huffy (but hey, he knows his rig)... Just know what your ride can handle, or you'll look like that Xterra print ad of the dude that took the XC bike instead of the DH rig downhill.

Bottom line, great value. This is definitely more for a back country style rider. Since it'll handle the jumps, but too heavy to be a pure XC runner. Swap out the heavy comps, and it does get lighter (nothing close to a true XC though). Good for small drops, remember this does not have that big of a rear travel for extreme freeriding and jumping plus you'd have to replace the original comps. I've taken 5 1/2 ft drops on it, and it's held up (that was when I rewarded it with the Vanilla 125), but had the SUV's on.

Bike Setup:   Fox Forx Vanilla 125 RLC, Avid Mech discs, Shimano XT's, Sun SUV's for the rough stuff (but still use the original rims for the light things -- like XC'ing with the lady). I'll probably go with some RaceFace compos on my next trip up to Banff (c'mon exchange rate).

Strengths:    i wanted a low end fs bike to destroy while commuting. this bike is tops. great deal for someone just getting into mtn biking. rides like a xc bike, but with a super-strong build. i love the design

Weaknesses:    the brake pads are sluggish, the lock piece behing the rear suspension keeps snapping out on heavy tech rides.

Bottom Line:
for the price, this bike kicks!

Strengths:    The frame is the bike's best feature. The design and durability is great. The front forks work well under all conditions. The brakes are good just need better pads for grip. The gearing is great for all-around going. The tires are great for dry conditions but when the going gets wet then the mud can't get off of them.

Weaknesses:    Brake pads are the main weakness. The back suspension works good if you don't go past 5 foot drops.

Bottom Line:
The bottom line is that this bike is perfect for someone to setup into a dream bike and the bike is screaming for it. The original setup is for the intermediate rider but is more then able is excel in performance. Get this bike, it is worth every penny.
