Strengths:this bikes amazing. combined with monster t's it is unstoppable. frame is strong, chunky, and still light. back suspension is a dream! the bike looks great, really dont know whay gt stopped making them. such a smooth bike to ride, eats up my local trials easily, takes the jumps nicely and can be agile in technical bits of the track aswell. beast of a bike! get one
Weaknesses:as a few others have mentioned about the maintenence. they are getting quite rare now and parts are hard to get hold of

Favorite Trail:All of Whistler
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2100.00
Purchased At:Second Hand
Strengths:Pretty much every thing on it is as great as great can be. Strong, looks good, top and head tube angle fully ajustable, big gussets, easy to take out the spring on the rear shock, and onnn and oonnn and onn. Oh yeah, GT's warrenty service is awsome!! If u get a special back shock u can get 8.5 inches on the rear, but right now i have 7 inches on the rear.
Weaknesses:Can only take a 2.3 tire on the rear. Since it's discontinued, i guess it's hard to find parts for it.
Similar Products Used:Bullit, Super 8, RM7, , i can go onn.
Bike Setup:Boxxers, Hayes, raceface, XTR, mavic, MRP, Break therapy.
Bottom Line:This bike is sweet, I love mine, and it's fast. No break jack cause it has the floating disc system.

Favorite Trail:Black Run at Aston Hill
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1600.00
Purchased At:Second hand (cheers John)
Strengths:Plush Suspension Action, looks cool, irons out all rough and uneven terrain, short top tube means very quick handling through tight twisty turns and switch backs.
Weaknesses:shock design at the back isn't that laterally stiff, but it isn't that noticeable when riding. No room for tires biger than 2.3's, i'm a bit worried about how much maintanence the back end will be(there's an awful lot of bearings in their)
Similar Products Used:orange Patriot, Marin b-17, Muddy fox dh thing, Gt sts 1000( i cracked it after a few months light riding, Gt then took two months getting me the dh version. When i finally got it a few months later i cracked my spin wheel in two. The moral of this story is don't buy carbon fibre unless you like riding a bike which has the rigidity of a milk carton
Bike Setup:y2k lobo frame, boxxer 151's,hope 2-pots, mrp, Mavic d321's, hope big-uns, tioga saddle + tyres
Bottom Line:This big rules. After 1 month of this bike i felt twice as fast and have four times as much confidence. It corners, jumps, and handles drop offs as though they weren't there. I can't stress how much i love this bike.

If your a good mechanic then all the pivots will be no problem. However if your like me, and don't know the first thing about bike maintenance you are going to have some very expensive bike shop bills. Expect to service the bushings and bearings 3 times a year in the states or 4 times a year in the u.k. As long as you look after it this bike will hopefully run smooth for years.

If you want a bike to rip down some gnarly dh trails on, this is the one. One more thing never buy carbon fibre frames, wheels,or handle bars unless you enjoy pickin gravel out of your face.

Strengths:Everything. This bike is built to last and to take a lot of abuse.
Weaknesses:None. Pedal it, Love it, and win onit.
Similar Products Used:Intense M1, Stupid 8
Bike Setup:Boxxer Hayes, XTR
Bottom Line:If you want to win, get one. It sprints awesomely and can even climb pretty well. I get to ride all crazy stuff and it can handle it all. Feels more like 8" than 6". Rear wheel brake devise is a little tricky but it works. Allows suspension to work while hitting the brakes.

Favorite Trail:Bromont la coupe du monde
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Very active rear suspension, pretty light for a downhill bike (for those who care), wickid for jumping, perfect for picking those smooth lines.
Weaknesses:not enough travel, the carbon fiber or thermoplastic ones get stress cracks (thank god i have the aluminium one)
Similar Products Used:Poter odin dh (awsome bike), vps-1, santacruz super 8, giant atx-1, balfa bobonum
Bike Setup:boxxer pro, hayes disc (without brake therapy, there is a way) full rf crank, rf stem, cane creek rims, shimano xtr
Bottom Line:dont expect much when u just bounce around on it, but once u start ripping through that dh course u will understand. wickid bike for jumping, all in all this is a perfect bike for amateurs like me who just started dh. i definatly reccomend it.
