Favorite Trail:Any trail at Luetsen
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:Pro Deal from DBR
Strengths:Solid frame, sealed cartridge bearing pivots, adjustable travel
Weaknesses:The fork, the front brake, and the color (purple/yellow) thats it.
Similar Products Used:V-link 3.1, Giant ATX 990 team, Diamondback XR-4
Bike Setup:Marzochi JR-T fork, Azonic shorty stem (75mm), Azonic world force riser bar (2.5 inch rise) Thompson post, Tioga multi contol xl saddle, MRP world cup chain guide, Engagement Ring front chainring (44 tooth), Race Face north shore cranks, XT 9 speed der., xt shifter pod, Sun Rhyno Lite rims/XT disk hubs/DT 14 gauge spokes, Tioga DH 2.3 tires, Hayes Purple Hydraulic disk brakes, Ringle' zu-zu's pedals, FSA Pig DH headset, ODI Ruffian grips
Bottom Line:The bike rocks, it goes where you point it, it is stable at speed and very reliable. The only thing I don't like is the color, the purple does nothing for me and the white was even worse, my next mission is to get the beast painted. If you need a mid range travel bike and have a chance to buy an X-6, do it.

Favorite Trail:Schoolyard
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Rear suspension works great and practically bulletproof
Weaknesses:RockShox Judy 100 and Formula MD-1 brake blow. The fork has hyper rebound and bottoms easily. The brake is weak and fades significantly. Both are very maintenance intensive.
Similar Products Used:Specialized FSR. Intense M1 (The best, no comparison).
Bike Setup:Fork: 15 wt WP motorcycle oil. 1 click from full hard. Still bottoms easily.
Shock: 4 clicks from full hard.
Tires: 30-45 psi depending on conditions.
Bottom Line:I love the bike. It's pretty heavy but the payoff is when the trail points down. I plan to replace the fork (it still blows) with a White Brothers or Marzocchi. Depending on cash flow, I'll replace the Formula MD-1 front brake (it still blow too) with either a Hayes hyd. disc or an Avid V-brake to match the rear, which I'm very happy with.

Date Reviewed: November 27, 1999
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Solid design, Fox vanillaR shock,
Weaknesses:
Weight, no fork boots,
broke some teeth on the Mega Nine middle chain ring.
Similar Products Used:
Diamond back V-link 3.0
Schwinn 4-banger all mountain
Bottom Line:I bought this bike because of the beefed up frame and sealed cartrige pivot points. While this bike is heavy I love the way it handles, especially downhill. The rebound dampening on the rear shock makes for a nice feel but the Judy 100 up front has minimal adjustment.
I replaced the Formula mechanical disk with a hydraulic Hayes with no regrets. For the price I am surprised at the overall quality and feel of the bike.
