$2000.00 | | Strengths: | Looks, ride, frame | | Weaknesses: | Will it break when it hits a rock? | | Similar Products Used: | GT STS XCR 2000 and many others | | Bike Setup: | standard | | Bottom Line: | Very Very good. I had it for about 6 months before it was nicked and everything about it from its looks to its ride is perfect. I got a GT STS XCR 2000 as a replacement which was utter pants. Never buy a GT. luckily thats been nicked as well so I hope to buy another Raven (the new Raven 2000 model) Buy one there great. (and its a Cannondale) I'm not an easy rider. I really abuse bikes and this one can take any punishment (unlike the GT which just falls apart) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from portland Date Reviewed: March 8, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Incredibly light weight! Rigidity, Responsiveness, Tracking, sorry hardtail folks, Cannondale has in my opinion created the ultimate offroad thrill seekers toy! | | Weaknesses: | I have but two complaints, 1st: The rims are a no name factory affair that could be replace by SUN OX Lites. 2nd, my wife doesn't have one. She hates hills because she rides GT Zasker Le. | | Similar Products Used: | Gary Fisher Joshua Z, OK I realize that the Z is not even in the same ballgame. . . | | Bike Setup: | Factory Parts excepting a Control Tech MTN post and a Terry Men's Ti Race Liberator Seat. 24lbs including fully sealed Coda Expert Disc Brakes. XTR rear, XT front, Dura-Ace btm bkt. Easton EA70 Bar, XT 9-speed Rapid Fire (what else?)IRC Notos tires, CODA Tarantula 2X Crankset and many, many beautifuly laid strands of carbon fiber composite. | | Bottom Line: | This bike was a case of lust then love at first sight. I walked into my local shop, and caught a glimpse of a shop guy bringing the 2000SL out to the floor. I took it up to the indoor test track and rode around for at least 30-40 seconds before I was figuring out how to pay for it. I bought a large, and my Raven is the only bike of 6 that didn't require exensive customization to fit and feel correctly. Kudo's to Cannondale several times over! I also want to let any prospective buyers know that if you plan to buy high end Cannondale, expect a call from their territory sales rep. When he calls ( If he doesn't, ask the dealership who the order from ), get to know him/her well. My guy has done a fabulous ( and difficult ) job of keeping my bike under my butt where it belongs during the several recal/refits that the Raven has been improved through. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Frankfurt, Germany Date Reviewed: September 28, 1999 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | light weight | | Weaknesses: | disc brakes: far too weak, bad qualitiy brake levers (make more rattle than XTR's) frame qualitiy: overall qualitiy problems with Raven II frames rear schock (lockable): Fox Float shock doesn't lock anymore, does not schock at all | | Similar Products Used: | Super V, Element TO | | Bike Setup: | see weaknesses | | Bottom Line: | The bikes 1st rear schock broke after 200 kilometers. After 400km the frame made a strange thunk-thingy-sound. Took it all apart with my favorite MTB-shop - reasembled - thunk still there. The bike headed for Cannondale Europe. It has been there for 2 Months: it is getting a new frame (the old one was frame #83) and should have been back 1 month ago.I have requested Cannondale to give me a status on their consumer-support - no replies. What really '*$%& me off: Seeing the qualitiy of my bike and Cannondale raving its Q-Lab. The bike has a nice CONCEPT. The production, the manufacturer and the qualitiy are its definitive weak points. | Overall Rating: |
