$2100.00 | | Purchased At: | gerick cycle | | Strengths: | the fox RC rules! very stiff frame! simple suspention design! | | Weaknesses: | a bit on the heavy side, but who cares about that when you launch yourself over huge drops! a bit more rear tire clearence would be nice | | Similar Products Used: | fsr extreme, brodie thumper, kona stinky five | | Bike Setup: | 6" jr.t, full XT, mavic d521 rims, irc rubbers, thompson lay-back seatpost, titec knuckhead dh stem | | Bottom Line: | this bike rules! it is the best short travel freeride bike out there, it can climb well and desend perfectly! the frame works well with any fork you put on there, from a 4 inch to a triple clamp dh fork! the simple suspention design works great and has only one pivot (not 4 or 5 like some bikes) with a psylo SL it weighs about 31 pounds, so it can be build up kinda light.

a Racer
from Canada Date Reviewed: September 22, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Super strong frame. Fox Vanilla RC is unbeatable. | | Weaknesses: | Need cranks that bow out to get around pivot or really long B.B. | | Similar Products Used: | Kona Stinky Five, Stinky, King Kikapu, Proflex, brodie Thumper, ZigZag, and many hardtails | | Bike Setup: | Bought the frame and built up with x-vert, full XT | | Bottom Line: | Just launched a six foot drop and it handled it with no problems. It is a fairly heavy frame but can be built up to be resonably light. Best use though is for someone looking for a shorter travel free ride machine. It bobs a little, but I can still ride all the uphills in town just not as fast as on my race bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
