Strengths: The 1999 Mongoose Menace is a great bike all around. I like the fact that it is long lasting, on top of the features. The bike is lightweight, durable, and fun to ride.
Weaknesses: The only weakness that I discovered is that the rims start to bend, but that's going to happen with any stock rim after 9 years of use. Also, I don't like how the bike isn't really an Anniversary Edition bike, it is only proclaimed to be one.
Bottom Line:
The bottom line is, older Mongooses were great. Now that Huffy makes them, they suck. So, if you are going to get a good bike, go with an older one!
Similar Products Used: Nothing of the Mongoose brand. However, I do occasionally ride my 2007 We The People.
Bike Setup: The bike is mostly stock. I am working on customizing pretty much everything. I will, however keep the stock parts, just so I could restore it if I want to in the future. The only things that are not stock are TSC rim strips, Dan's Competition Street/Trail tubes (extra thick to last long), and a TSC brake line. My plans are to replace everything except the frame and the headset (until the headset is shot, that is.

Strengths: light frame, great speed, awsome breaks, over all good looks.
Weaknesses: seat( hurts my ass), spokes get alittle bent out of shape.
Bottom Line:
it's the best bike i ever bought! i have a green 25th anniver. and it is so fast. the bike itself is beutiful, it's fast, the breaks are awsome. it had a good price and can take a beating. it's also the lightest bike that i've ever owned. the bike is great for people who race and dirt jump, not good for you people who goto skate parks with it(you'll bent the spokes out of shape, found tht out the hard way)

Strengths: The frame and forks last forever I ghave been riding it for 3 years and still no signs of weakness. The alex x rims have lasted well although the back has buckled over time but it is a great bike for dirt jump beginners.
Weaknesses: The wheels buckle over very harsh use the bars suck because they are to big and the pedals don't last.
Bottom Line:
The frame will last forever and last all the punishment you can put it through. It is a good bike and there are plenty of opertunitys to upgrade it so my advice is get one because the latest menace is poor. 2002

Strengths: Great value for the money. Decent frame, good geometry. Upgradeable.
Weaknesses: Plastic pedals, cheap headset. Wheelset is good for under 80lbs riders. A little heavy.
Bottom Line:
For someone starting out in BMX racing this is one of the best deals out there. All of the real weak links are easy to upgrade and you can still save a lot compared to other bikes with similar eqipment. This bike would need some serious upgrades to be a reliable dirt/trail bike. The frame is not Cromoly...only one tube is. Keep that in mind on the jumps. As a beginners bike it is a good value.

Strengths: the price was great, the frame is nice, the fork is nice.
Weaknesses: The headset is bottom of the line, the grips suck, the seat is bad, the peddles are plastic, the rims are single wall.
Bottom Line:
I think it is a good bike for the price. If you buy it from Copelands, make sure to get everything greased up, they didn't grease mine and I totally ruined my headset, but i needed a new one anyway. It is a pretty good bike though.

Bottom Line:
I bought this bike because it was on special at a local retailer. It has served its purpose quite sufficently. The heat treated alumnium rims seem to buckle quite a bit but not much to worry about. Plenty to upgrade on this bike but cash is a problem. The one piece hold up all right and nothing has cracked yet. A good investment on a cheap bike.
