Strengths: 2003 year model is a Chromoly frame per Bikepedia information Backtrail X1. Frame is sturdy. Freewheel & bottom bracket seem to have held up fine for 7 years. Chain is in good shape too.
Weaknesses: The bike I have was converted to brakeless. Was chromed and prior owner didn't do a very good job painting over chrome, currently I am refinishing it with primer & paint. The one piece crank is definitely archaic, but functional. The resin pedals, and no pegs with this one. Rear wheel isn't true, perhaps abused by prior owner(s). Grips needs to be replaced.
Bottom Line:
Since mine was free, how can it be a bad bike. Has a ton of good features, but it's also lacking on some of the modern tech components that have improved bmx over the past 7 years. After I get the finish squared away, I'm certain the way I ride it, it should last as long as I'll ever want it to and provide years of trouble free and reliable service. When I first rode it, I wasn't enamored with brakeless, so I'll get that squared away too.
Strengths: It's a great bike and has really good endurance. The original tires don't wear out easily and when I first bought it I loved it! It was my first bike and it was really easy to use - no technical gizmos or gadgets like most bikes!
Weaknesses: It doesn't have a kickstand so the handlebars get really beat up from being set on the ground unless you have a good place to put it. Also it doesn't have the best shocks so I wouldn't try anything to risky on it - especially if your a guy! My breaks also wore down very quickly and made it hard to stop.
Bottom Line:
It's a great beginner bike and if you're more professional biking then you should get one of the newer versions of a Haro! If you like biking then this bike is for you - and if you're thinking of selling one don't make the same mistake I did! Don't sell it cheap!
Similar Products Used: I've used the Haro Backtrail X3 (my friend has one - though it recently got stolen) - and it was really good. It's practically a new and improved version - it has better shock absorption and a kickstand. The X3 also has a better break system.

Strengths: Strong frame. Excellent for dirt jumps. Awsome overall bike
Weaknesses: The pedals are crap, my grip weared out in the first 2 months, one of the brake levers broke and i didn't even crash (i think it was factory fault)
Bottom Line:
Great all round bike, excellent for jumping. Great value for money. Very good for beginners/intermediate who like dirt riding
Strengths: everything, real strong frame 3 piece crank strong forks its all good (2005)
Weaknesses: fusion neck gets stripped if you adjust the bars it weighs 30 lbs i like a heavy bike how about you
Bottom Line:
it is great. good for jumping you could even put on pegs and do street or vert despite the weight this bike flies i highly recommend this bike and its not even expensive

Strengths: Everything on a Haro is solid and durable. This is what sometimes makes this bike so heavy.
Weaknesses: weight, slick tires.
Bottom Line:
The botom line is that this bike has outstanding performance and I would reccomend it to any body. Belive it or not I acutally race my Haro X1 at the race track!! I have manageably goten it down to 9.6 lbs.
Strengths: This bike has great rims, bars, the frame is O.K. its not chromoly though.
Weaknesses: The pedals suck, and the 1 peice deffinately sucks, also i didn't like the stock seat either.
Bottom Line:
This is a great bike overall. It has a few things wrong with it but its still a good starter bike and if your on a budget. I've had this bike for 5 years now and its held up great.
Strengths: This is the pimpest bike. For this generation, this is prbobaly one of the best bikes right now.
Weaknesses: Doesn't come with three peice crank.... but that aint that big.
Bottom Line:
This is probably the best bike for this generation. One of my favorite things bout this bike is that it can ... well, it all good except for the weight, weighs a lil to much.

Strengths: This bike has a great frame, it is strong and dependable. The rims aren't bad but i would get triple walls. Bars are great, and so it mostly everything else.
Weaknesses: Resin pedals need to go, get magnesium or aluminum. Get 3 pc. although these 1 pc. aren't bad.
Bottom Line:
This bike is great for anyone, i don't care how good you are. This thing has proven it self to out perform, and last anyother bike. Great value and great bike!!!
