Favorite Trail:Halls Ranch, Dakota Ridge
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $3000.00
Purchased At:Racine Cyclery, Raci
Strengths:Great Bike! Beautiful looks and great construction/ build quality. The anodized blk is so scratch resistant its crazy! Ive had this bike for 3 years and have crashed more times than I want to count and the bike has 1 tiny spec of a scratch! Amazing! Gets looks all the time! Climbs like a mtn goat!
Weaknesses:nothing really, don't use the pro pedal out here in Colorado much due to too many rocks to climb over so i like the open rear suspension.
Similar Products Used:Trek, Specialized, Elsworth (too pricey!)
Bike Setup:stock except for Sram 990 rear cause the red looks great and a little lighter than stock!
Bottom Line:This bike makes me a better rider and the fact the the Yeti company is a great company to deal I will always buy their bike, unless the product goes to crap.

The warranty dept is amazing and these guys (Seth) stand behind their product! And that says a lot compared to many companies out here!

Only thing Yeti! I like the orange color but it needs to be anodized and more of a burnt orange color! i would buy one just to have it!

Strengths:Light yet has the travel to handle big drops. Yeti customer service! SMOOTH on the downhill.
Weaknesses:I'm a bigger rider, it would be nice if they add a XXL to their lineup sometime in the future.
Similar Products Used:Intense 5.5, Titus Moto-Lite
Bike Setup:Race Disc
Bottom Line:You can read the other reviews about how great this bike is, I agree with all of them. I just want to give kudos to Yeti for their customer service. I recently returned from Gooseberry Mesa and broke the frame at the weld (rear triangle where the chainstay meets the swingarm). It was a bummer, as you can imagine, but things happen. When I returned I called Yeti, a bit concerned about how much this would cost me--I mean, I've had the bike over three years, moved a few states away from where I purchased it and didn't have a receipt. Seth answered the phone and I told him what happened. He asked me where I bought it, I gave him my answer, and he apologized for my bike breaking. Without hesitating he told me the name of the local shop to take it to, the name of the person to talk to, and that he was shipping me a new rear triangle for free (cross-transit, so I would get it quicker). The local shop I went to was outstanding (Zumwalt's) and I was up and running in about 6 days! No hassles, no drama, no excuses. This company stands behind their product and treats their customers well!! And so does Zumwalt's

Strengths:Great descender, good climber. Anodized black frame looks new although the bike is 2005 model. Get into the groove with this bike, it's fast.
Weaknesses:I've ridden the heck out of this bike, I can't find any.
Similar Products Used:I moved up from a Fuel EX-8
Bike Setup:Nixon Platinum Fork, Fox RP-3, SRAM X-O shifters and RD, Chris King headset, Thomson seat post, Titec carbon bars. Mavic 819 wheelset, Hope hubs
Bottom Line:This bike is amazing. I have ridden with kids 30 years younger, and while they wax me on the climbs, I match the elsewhere. This bike is confidence inspiring, and it loves to go fast.
The Yeti 575 doubles as a good XC bike, is great at technical stuff, certainly better than my riding ability.

Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $3200.00
Purchased At:Yeti Cycles: HandBuilt RaceBred
Strengths:Excellent ALL AROUND Bike! Great climber, and even better on DH. Very confortable riding position. Feels very much in control of handlebars on tight and fast descending trails. Considering the travel of the RP23 Fox, it feels amazingly light. Cool looks and great paint job from Yeti. Just doesn't seem to scratch with the anodized cover.
Weaknesses:Tires. But not much of a problem if you're willing to swap them for some Maxxis Larsen TT's for summer or some heavy duty fatties for winter. No such problem with wide tires.
Similar Products Used:Specialized Enduro Pro 04', Giant Reign 0 07', Gary Fisher HiFi
Bike Setup:Standard Enduro Race Kit from www.yeticycles.com
Fox Float 140 RLC - Fox Shock RP23 - Handlebar: Raceface Carbon - Seatpost: Thompson Elite - Rims: DT 540 - Complete Shimano XT Set except REAR DER which is XTR - Brakes: Shimano XT - 160 rotor on rear and 180 rotor up front (this I upgraded).
Bottom Line:My bike is a 07'. Iv'e seen now that Yeti has increased the price or the same model but 08'. Costing aproximatly 400 dolars more, for basically the same bike.
Never the less I fully recomend this bike, but also consider taking a test ride of the Santa Cruz Blur LT, Heckler, Gary Fisher HiFi Pro, or even the Giant Reign 0. All these Bikes come pretty close in certain areas of performance to the yeti. So it all boils down to how it actally feels on the road.

Strengths:All round ability (climbs and decends like a dream), stiffness, light, looks
Weaknesses:Gives you too much confidence, but maybe thats not a bad thing.
Similar Products Used:I demo'd a number of bikes including, santa cruz heckler - nice but wasnt as smooth. Turner spot - just felt big, really big. Specialised enduro - had the wrong size so wasnt a good test, but the forks still need work, they are too hard on climb setting and too soft on descent. Santa cruz nomad - nice bike but a fair bit more expensie and no better.
Bike Setup:Yeti 575 2008 carbon race rp23, with race face deus crank and talas rlc forks.
Bottom Line:I havent ridden this bike for long but I already know that this is the bike for me. When I test rode it I felt at home within a 100 meters which didnt happen by the end of any other test ride. The bottom line ... it just does everything, very very well.

Favorite Trail:Upper Sourdough & Jamestown Creek
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $3500.00
Purchased At:Sports Garage
Strengths:Well balanced for variety of trails, but excells on long, rough rides. Craftmanship and durablity. Great components.
Weaknesses:Juicy 7 brake squall in rear. I didn't have this problem with the bike I demoed, just the one I bought and also w/ Blur LT I demoed. Fixed using orgainic pads.
Similar Products Used:Blur LT (demoed), Nomand (demoed, too sluggish on flats for long rides, otherwise awesome), Specialized Enduro (own).
Bike Setup:Carbon Race version, DHX Air, anodized finish (holds up well). Hope hubs, Mavic 819 UST rims, and tubeless 2.1 Nevegal tires. XTR pedals for less technical rides, 545s for the rest
Bottom Line:I demoed both the Santa Cruz Blur LT and 575, with nearly identical builds. I spent a few days on each and found them both so equally good, that I had to compare notes on the same trails. Both bikes are excellent for long epic rides with a variety of terrain. I ended up choosing the Yeti because it was more confident when the trail gets nasty. It handles steep rock stairs, rock chutes, balancy catwalks much better when descending and slightly better when climbing. It is easier to loft the 575's front wheel and I'm more confident attempting stunts. Definitely has a high fun factor on rough trails. Although the Yeti is quite good in the corners, the Blur LT is exceptional, especially when changing directions in loose materials. So for me, the bike choice came down to trail conditions and many of my favorite trails have rock gardens and other rough technical sections, that gulp, really grab your attention.

My biggest concern with the 575 was that it bottomed out easily when I set shock sag to "all mountains plush" settings. It bottomed off small drops with the front derailleur hitting the swing arm with 25-30% sag. It was fine with less sag, but less plush. Based on reviewer, "ns" comments I got the DHX Air shock (thanks much ns !). Couldn't be happier with this choice. I can set up the shock super plush and use the boost valve to prevent bottoming out. With propedal on the rear end rides higher and doesn't bob.

The bike is built with a lot of love, sports beautiful craftsmanship, and it holds up well. No service issues after 50-60 of hard trail hours. The simple suspension design should require less service.

I've been having a blast on the Yeti. Just love to open her up down rocky chutes and I now attach rock gardens. If I fail on a section, I just turn around and hit it again because the Yeti can climb or descend just about anything I've hit so far. I keep adding extra miles in my outings because the bike is so light and efficient. This is a great bike for epic rides that include rough, technical riding.

Purchased At:Adrenaline
Strengths:Excellent bike for epic rides and aggressive cross-country riding. I also use it for sport class time trial and cross country racing. Exceptionally stable for nearly 6" of travel. Does most everything well- climbs, downhills, etc.
Weaknesses:Mine weighs in at 30 pounds. To do it again I would have built it for no more than 27 pounds. However, I'm using my bike for 50 mile trail rides AND 10 mile time trial races- that's asking a lot from one bike.
Similar Products Used:Demo'd everything for a year- Blur LT was a close second.
Bike Setup:Race Disc- X0 RD and shifters, Kenda Nevegal front, small block rear, RP23.
Bottom Line:After two seasons in the saddle, I would highly recommend the 575- particularly if you are looking for one bike to do it all.

I would also recommend that you buy from a local bike shop. I had a some problems with Adrenaline and will never buy a bike on-line again.

Strengths:Balance, pedaling platform, huge travel, ridng position, quality
Weaknesses:hard to justify the time I spend reading MTB mags when I got the "one"
Similar Products Used:Kona Kahuna (5yrs), ELs Ephinany, Blur XC, Stumpy 120, Heckler
Bike Setup:06 Frame Black Ano, XT drivetrain, Thompson Cockpit, 07 DT Swiss 540 wheels set
Bottom Line:I have spent yesrs planning for a new bike have read way to much mags etc and have ridden the above bikes.
I liked the Blurs suspension felt like it pushes you along.
I liked the Stumpy 120 was plush compared to the Kona
The Ephinany was fanatstic, persuaded me that 5 " of travel was what the doctor ordered. Couldnt justify the $, but luckily a 575 come up for sale and as this was the bike I had been drooling over for years I snapped it up.
Previous owner has lavished care on the steed so was like brand new especialy with 07 wheels off his new 575 carbon!

Well I can say that the 575 lives up to and exceeds all expectations, it pedals beatifuly and feels firm under power and where do those roots etc go! when climbing a 6" ledge/root just disappears with a thup, it devours square edge bumps and all others.
I have ridden all my fav loops from XC to techy downhills and it rips on all and flies over 2-3 ft jumps etc.
The RP3 is good I ride in the mid seeting ad only use the full open for the full on down hill track and the firm settng for long fireroad climbs

The riding position was one I had qualms about, as all reviews say ride from center etc, wasnt to sure if that was what I wanted but I have to say it is very comfortable and feels efficient and relaxing.
The steering is a bit slower than the 71 deg of the Kona and needs a bit more leaning into corners but this feels very natural and enjoyable.

I recommend this to anyone who likes to ride trails, climb descend and have fun.
The build quality is good, this is an 07 and looks new, no problem with the ANO finish.
Nice to have some Bling to show off as well BUY ONE!

Strengths:A ridiculously fun bicycle! Super stable at warp speeds, predictable, plush and climbs exceptionally well. The 575 is an amazingly versatile frame and for some it may even be that elusive "one" bike. It can be built heavier for aggro search and destroy trail riding...a lighter build yields a longer travel endurance racer, secret weapon for the more brutal venues....and the folks at Yeti are over the top in customer service.
Weaknesses:Way too much fun....conducive to burning through rest days and over training?I've heard of heavier riders experiencing some flex in the rear. I'm 180lbs dressed and have zero issues with a flexy tail. I do, however, go through hangers. They seem to be a little soft.
Similar Products Used:Many great bikes: SC blur (original), Superlight, Heckler, Stumpies, Enduros, Tracer, 5.5,...
Bike Setup:At the moment: 575 w alum rear, Push tuned TALAS RLC, DHX, XT crankset w Race Face bash ring, 07 X9 shifters, Nokons, XO carbon mid cage rear, Xgen front, Juicy 7 185mm up front and the orig Hayes hfx carbon 160mm in the rear. CK headset, SIC bars, Thomson seat post, Thomson 90mm stem, Schwalbe UST Fat Albert F, Nobby Nic R.
Bottom Line:I've ridden this bike at least four days a week, usually five or six, year round since November 04, logged some miles for sure. It still makes me smile. Huge. I was thinking about replacing it the other day.....with a different color. I'm bored with the black. Over it. Truthfully, that is the only thing I would change on my frame. The guys in Golden nailed this one.

As mentioned above, I'm about 180lbs or so dressed with sac of water and I'm 5'10". No unique anatomy. The medium fits me well. Ample standover. I ride with a 90mm stem but have a longer (120) stem that stretches the cockpit nicely, dig it for epic rides. Suspension - wise I ride with the DHX most of the time, however, I have the stock RP3 that is considerably lighter than the DHX. If I had to choose between the DHX or the RP3, I would likely keep the RP3. It's a better all around shock for this bike. That being said, I am stoked on the DHX ( no stuck down issues). Lottsa tunability, and changes the ride of the bike tremendously. Preferable for mowing down baby heads at warp speeds, a bit more solid and even more plush. More plusher? Again, makes me smile and giggle. Man, I retract the previous statement, I'd keep the DHX. If you know you will be riding this bike consistently at the upper end of its capability consider the DHX. I'm told that fox will tune it to the 575, don't know for sure. And add a 36 or similar fork. If you will be spending more of your time in less hostile terrain the RP3 may be a better choice.

In regard to the capability of the 575, I don't know what to say about the "upper end." I'm not a hucker. Besides, if you truly are, you're not likely to be reading this. I'm all about the bleeding lungs and blurred vision brand of trail riding. Think full face with a heart rate monitor. There is a certain amount of air requisite to my favorite trails and the bike handles it better than I do. I accidently went big once.

On the uphill the 575 is a dream. It may be a bit happier staying seated and spinning but there is no penalty for out of the saddle uphill charging. It tracks and it's hard to lose traction with 5.75" of travel. But there are always other variables...

And mentioning variables....not considering tires, dirt and suspension the 575 is super predictable in corners. No surprises, things break loose at about the same time. If one is used to or looking for very quick XC type steering they will likely be disappointed. 69 degrees is not super slack, but it does not make for twitchy quick steering. 69 degrees does, however, make for great trail bike steering. Back to the stable and predictable part. It's hard to screw up with this bike. It's exceptionally forgiving.

There is much talk of brake jack and I've been intimate with it in past bikes. I very purposely attempted to induce it in the 575 and noticed very little. Not an issue in this particular single pivot design. I do notice that the 575 is less supple over smaller features, bumps, etc. than some other bikes. This may be a trade off for smoothness through the majority of the stroke and pedaling efficiency. Again, it's not been an issue and in my opinion not a consideration in the overall ride. Besides, If you only hit big bumps you won't notice.

Durability? I've read some comments regarding the triangle on the top tube. It s strength was being questioned. Indicative of a solid middle school level understanding of physics and geometry. Strong as it needs to be. I break a lot of stuff but this frame hangs in there. I have heard of a few cracked frames and a single instance of a failed carbon pivot. All of which were quickly and happily dealt with by Yeti.

In sum, The 575 can be built into about any type of trail bike one desires. It is not a freeride bike, not an XC racer. It is a weapon of choice for many super d courses and it may be an endurance racer. If you are reading these reviews in an effort to sort things out for a trail bike purchase this bike is certainly worthy of consideration. And Yeti backs their product up in a way that is all too rare. Fortunately for us, there are many fantastic bicycles out there. It's difficult to go wrong. As well, remember that when demoing bikes the ride is suspension dependent. Super bike rides like super crap if you or shop person don't tune correctly. Be sure it's adjusted for you and the trail...all of it, not just sag. The only person I've met who didn't absolutely love his 575 had in a bad way.

Bottom Line:Here's a letter I sent to Yeti that I'd like to share with everyone who comes to mtbr.com:

Yeti Staff,

I'd like to say THANKS! to all the folks at Yeti who helped me out while I was in Moab a couple of weeks ago. You guys are GREAT!!

I went to Moab, UT, to ride bikes with the Believers On Mountain Bikes (BOMB) club the week of April 15-20, 2007. BOMB is a Christian group that I've been riding with for a couple of years. The trip has been planned for months, people from BOMB chapters all over the country were converging on Moab, and I was very excited about it.

After riding in Grand Junction (Ribbon and Holy Cross) on Monday, then Sovereign in Moab on Tuesday, a group of us who are pretty hard-core technical riders headed out to the 5 Miles of Hell trail on Wednesday. 3 miles into the 5MoH trail (which is actually 8 miles of highly technical rock riding), one of the welds on my rear triangle broke. My ride was over and I had to hike 3 miles back to my truck.

On the way back to Moab, I called and talked to Seth Mukai at Yeti. I told him where I was, how long the trip had been planned, and what a bummer it was that this occurred in the middle of such an eagerly anticipated vacation. Seth said "No problem, take it to Poison Spider". I arrived at Poison Spider in Moab an hour later and they said "We already talked to Yeti, the replacement part is on its way via UPS overnight, we'll get right on it as soon as it arrives." I was very happy to hear that.

Unfortunately, Poison Spider informed me that UPS overnight arrives about 12pm each day and my bike would be ready about 2pm. There was a big BOMB ride scheduled for 9am! I called Yeti back, talked to Seth again, he talked to the guys at Poison Spider, and the next thing I knew I was rolling out of the shop with a brand new 2007 Yeti 575 to ride on Thursday courtesy of Yeti. OUTSTANDING!!

After a great day of riding on Thursday, I returned to Poison Spider only to find out that they had discovered a crack in the front triangle of my bike. The good news was that they had already called Yeti and a replacement was on its way -- once again, overnight.

After riding a rental again on Friday, I got back to Poison Spider and there was my bike -- brand new front triangle, brand new rear triangle (with carbon fiber chain stays -- very, very cool). Basically a brand new bike.

Everyone I talked to in Poison Spider and several other bike shops said "No other manufacturer would do that for you -- they'd just say 'Sorry about that, we'll ship the parts to your original dealer and you can take care of it when you get back home.' " Everyone was shocked and impressed by Yeti's commitment to customer satisfaction.

THANKS, YETI !!! I'm a member of the Yeti tribe for life. I would highly recommend that anyone who wants a great bike backed by fantastic service check out the Yeti line-up and make a selection. The ride of the bike and the folks at Yeti will ensure you're happy with your decision!

Weaknesses:1. Back feels a tad heavy, maybe i am not used to it yet

2. Rusty bolts connectin the RP23

3. Takes a few rides to set up, but then again - some bikes you can never get the correct feel

4. Tire clearance at the back - 2.1 nevegals look tight

5. Worried about carbon stay - sctraching due to lack of mud clearance

6. Takes a bit of getting used to on climbs

Bottom Line:Bike has a lot of potential, the rider has yet to realize, every ride - there is always a pleaset supprise i discover.

Makies me a bit of a lazy rider, cause i can blast through almost anything, instead picking my lines on a hardtail.

Net net - after paying for it - will make it work out (like a marriage) -althoiugh secretly want to rebuild the giant, as i trasnfered most of the parts accross to build the yeti.

I would recommend this bike - due to
1. build quality

2. Service responce (shout out to Craig Grant, who replies in 24hours)

3. Pleasent surprises - rider needs to get more acustomed to the bike.

I did my research and decided on the 575 even though I couldn't test ride one. I emailed yeti with a couple of questions and got answers almost immediately. My local dealer did not stock Yeti's but was able to order one for me anyway. In their experience with yeti they decided to become a dealer.

The bike just emits quality the first time you look at it. The machined swingarm and the frame show that a lot of care was taken in the building, painting and finish of the bike.

The bike fit me perfectly from the start. I was able to climb stuff I had failed to make up on my FSR. The bike has a remarkably balanced feel to it. It is easy to move your body around to finesse the bike. It is surprising how well it executes switchbacks and tight trails. The higher bottom bracket makes it much easier to clear logs than the low slung FSR.

It climbs extremely well, and the suspension is firm yet keeps the wheels on the ground. It is surprising how well it climbs on very rough rock gardens and roots. The suspension has the abilty to be firm for pedaling and then be plush on the big hits. It sucks up big landings without getting out of control. I can stand up and power through babyheads that would stop me on my other bikes.

On the downhills the slacker head angle keeps the bike stable and comfortable and the suspension keeps the wheels on the ground. The minions are heavy but great tires for AM riding and the wheels, although heavy, have stayed true and roll fine after a lot of wet, rocky riding.

I did have some trouble with the drivetrain at first and broke the hanger on the 3rd ride. After repairs and putting on a slightly longer chain it has worked great. I had warbling from the Juicy 5 brakes but Avid sent new rotors and they seem to be working fine. Just make sure that you take an extra hanger with you.

Even with the minor problems with the components I'm in love with the bike. Considering the price is in line with many 'mainstream' bikes with similar builds I think that the 575 is a steal. And the beauty of the frame build is obvious the first time you look at it. I rarely give 5/5 for anything but this thing just works and is a great value compared to similar bikes.

Purchased At:Riders Choice, Leederville
Strengths:Beautiful combination of light, fast and agile yet confidence inspiring stability. Superb cornering and descending. Really versatile- just select tyres, shock set-up, seat height etc and can do anything from XC/24Hr to light DH/FR (Cros-stuntry)at pace. Also seems very strong as no frame damage despite breaking a stem and bars in separate bad front landings. I've also fatigue-fractured 2 hardtail frames with much less punishment than this Yeti has endured.
Weaknesses:You feel guilty if shuttling or using chair lift as bike gives no excuse for not riding up.
Need to be accurate setting up sag and rebound. When handling is just right the RP3 bottoms out with any decent drop.
Similar Products Used:none too similar
Bike Setup:RP3, Talas RLC (adjustable travel recommended if >130mm), XT drivetrain, Avid juicy5 8"F/6"R (ultra good!), Nevegal F, Syncros BHT R.
Bottom Line:I absolutely love this bike and have taken it with me to Canada and NZ as wouldn't be without it. Huge thanks to Chris Jones at Rider's Choice who really listened to what I wanted and has provided outstanding service since.
This is a super smooth fun ride as set up so would have to be truly phenomenal with a 36 or Z-1 fork plus DHX rear.
I doubt any other bike can perform so well without costing obscene amounts. Don't fork out for a Nomad / 6.6 / Moto-lite or other boutique machine until you ride a well set up 575.

Great clearance/positon helps on technical climbs

Similar Products Used:Giant NRS-1
Bike Setup:2007 Race Disc stock, except swapped out wheels for Mavic 819 UST Tubeless and XT Hubs
Bottom Line:My first rides on this bike were this past weekend in Fruita. We did the Bookcliffs, Mary's and Tabeguache/Lunch loops area each day.

I can honestly say this is the best mountain bike I have ever ridden and I've ridden them since the late 80's.
My most previous bike was a Giant NRS-1. I loved that bike, as I was coming from a hardtail. And the difference from that NRS to the Yeti is as big of a jump up as my hardtail to the NRS was.

First of all, this thing DESCENDS incredibly fast and confidently. The extra travel, the stiffer fork (I had a SID before), and the geometry just set you up to fly. The extra travel helps you go over things you might not try. For example, my buddy (who also has a NRS) was following me in Fruita down a rock drop. He said I made it look easy...when he hit it he almost endo'd. I guess the geometry was a factor there.

Secondly, despite weighing a slight bit more (I could lose three pounds by taking a dump :D), it actually CLIMBS better. I had a bit of anxiety about the extra weight while waiting on my bike to be built up...but this was all stress for nothing. The extra clearance of the bottom bracket is incredible, and again, the geometry/position of the bike help me breath better and keep my lower back more relaxed on long climbs. Plus, I can virtually lock out the front and rear forks if I want to stand and hammer on it. I climbed a rock ledge on Horsethief that I don't think I have ever cleaned before because it was easier to lift up my handlebar and I was in a better position to push the bike up and over. The extra travel also helped keep the tire from bouncing up and spinning out.

Third, COMFORT. I rode for 11 hours in 3 days in Fruita and was not nearly as tired/sore as I would have been on my NRS. Because of the more upright position, you place less stress on your shoulders/arms/wrists/neck. Also, your lower back will thank you for sitting more upright and having more travel. These are things that used to add up over the course of 2-3 day weekend rides, but I can say I've never felt fresher than after this last trip.

For those in the Denver area, I recommend The Singletrack Factory. They were the only shop that was willing to swap out the DT Swiss for the Mavic UST (I had to have tubeless) and they took an hour and 45 minutes to go over the setup of the bike and get my fitted on it and comfortable with understanding how the shocks worked.

Strengths:This bike is wicked fast for a 5.5 inch FS bike. Just feels right and I find it pretty nimble yet able to soak up all the big hits too.
Weaknesses:Drive train has some chain alignment issues, would probably go with a different crank.
Bike Setup:Standard Enduro package except I traded for Juicy 7 brakes with 180mm rotors and Kenda Nevegal tires.
Bottom Line:No doubt this is the best value in a 5.5 inch travel full suspension bike. Low end Enduro kit still comes with carbon bar and seat post, Fox front and rear! I was able to deal with Full Cycles for some nice upgrades. I checked all over and they have the best price. I had some trouble getting the bike set up on my own as I do not know much about adjusting drive train. Ended up getting LBS to do it for me. Also on my own for shock and fork set up which isn't easy. If you are like me consider payng the extra to buy from LBS, then you aren't on your own. However Full Cycles stands by their sales and won't quit until you are happy.

I have not had any problem with the seat post as others have reported and I like the way it adjusts. REally no complaints at all except I think the drive train (SRAM x.9 rear der. and cassette w/XT front) is noisy and the chain rubs the front der. in some gears.

As far as riding this beast, I no longer choose lines, instead just run over whatever gets in the way and do it pretty fast. I ride a lot of tight twisty singletrack and this bike stays right with it. Every ride out gets a little better as I get this thing dialed in. Great bike for someone moving up from a hardtail as the platform on the Fox RP3 and lockout on the Vanilla fork eliminate bob. Doesn't seem heavy at all and with the Nevegals climbs very well.

Bottom Line:This is a follow up.
in about two months i have over 300 miles on the bike....I FREAKIN LOVE the RIDE.
Super smooth suspension, all my RP3 worries are gone, the fork kicks ass, but i still might upgrade to the Fox 36? (let me know if you want to buy a slightly used Fox Float RLC130)

The only issue i am having is with the BB. Like all new bike thing come loose the first 50 or so miles, but the BB was Clanking and creaking like crazy. Took it in to Venture sport(they KICK ass, Free tunes if you buy a bike) tighten everything up re greased everything, bike rode great for a couple miles...(20-30). Did a ride today and i couldn't stand and push any up hill efforts, literally the BB was sooooo loud. Yeti had a demo the other day and the guy said that the cups that come with the Race Face Deus XC just can't hold up. They get loose with normal effort, i'm a big guy so i put a hurting on the BB. It has to be loose again. Venture is ordering an XT cup, which should take care of the problem....I hope. Other then that the bike really does everything i ask it to, ordered some Maxxis Larsen TT's for better roll resistance, should improve climbing and weight. (the maxxis minion DH's are great but really heavy!!!!!!!!!!!)

If you buy this bike make sure the RF BB is not included, don't really think it can handle abuse, get the XT.

i'll review the xt BB at a later Date.

First race is next week as well....should be fun.

Still love the ride but only 4 Chilis untill the BB issue is solved....then 5 fo sho!

Bottom Line:first off the boys at Venture KICK ASS!!! (Mike, Mark and Brian Rule). This review is a prliminary review. I am going to really test it this weekend at fruita and review it again. So far i have been very impressed, I love climbing at it does it REALLY well. I think i have the suspension dialed pretty well, for my use. I'm 6'3 around 240lbs. The RP3 has been very smooth. Fork is great as well. Don't know if it the bar or fork but i do get a bit of a wiggle, but more noticeable on hard climbing efforts than downhill. The bike is very quick downhill, still used to picking lines from past hardtails, need to just let go and the bike soaks it up!
Running about 100psi in fork air chamber, and almost 200psi in the RP3, still messing with rebound, But that PSI works well for climbing, With the propedal at full on the suspension moves to keep my rear wheel tracking but doesn't take any power away from my efforts.
So far i couldn't be happier, i plan to race the bike in the local races, should be good the weight doesn't concern me. The cources are pretty rought so the suspension is much needed. I do plan to convert the DT swiss rims to tubless, and ditch the minion DH's for more cross contry-esk tires. I really like the tires, just need something a bit faster rolling though.
I'll do a season ending review later

Bottom Line:The review here is intended for the frame al though the other stuff is great too. I bought the 575 frame 14 months ago. I like the previous rider are out there 3-5 times a week. Late january i noticed that the rp3 had a bit more sag than normal. Pressure was unchanged. Called fox got an ra# for a stuck down. On the last ride i also had a squeek.
Hopped of the bike and saw the seat stay was broken clear off at the weld just above the bottom bracket. I was going to colorado the following week. So why not tour the fact.
The super nice guys at yeti in the matter of 15 min. switched the frame and shock with new ones. They mulled weld too thin. The new rp3 has the medium propedal tune assigned to the 575. That is a good thing. The goat is now goatlier. The important part here is this: Dont select a frame or bike for un breakiness if you will. As you progress and por the coals to it stuff will break. The important part is how the fact. takes care of their customer. Mine had a bad weld, and im sure trek spec. and the other heavy hitters have`em too. So there it is. my hats off to the super guys at yeti. Kind of proud to support a little shop in golden,co.

Strengths:For a bike with this much travel it climbs like a... (insert favorite cliche') and since Yeti kinda knows a thing or two about how to build steeds that descend with authority it goes down like a pint of Guiness on St. Patrick's day. The frame is a work of art that was built with hard riding in mind. The 575 felt like I'd been riding it all my life from the first spin of the cranks to every climb and descent since. The geometry, 13.5 in. bottom bracket height, stand-over height, and uninterrupted seat tube are very nice touches. If you are an aggressive mountain biker the 575 was made for you. I thought that I couldn't love the sport any more than I did before I rode the 575 and now I can say I was wrong!
Weaknesses:May cause a severe aversion to work...
Similar Products Used:Nothing really compares to the 575, I race on a Specialized Epic, and I owned a Specialized Enduro (2004 Model)
Bike Setup:Frame size: Large, Fox 36RC2 fork, Fox DHX 5.0 air shock, Mavic Crossmax wheels, Avid Juicy 7's with 185mm rotors, Sram x-9 shifters, Shimano XT front derailer, Sram X0 rear derailer, 11-32 Shimano XT casset,Race Face Deus cranks and x-type BB with bash-gaurd, Thomson X4 100mm stem and set-back seat post, WTB Rocket V saddle w/ titanium rails, Shimano 540 clipless pedals, Specialized OS S-Works Carbon riser bar, Yeti logo grips, and Kenda Nevegal 2.35in. tires w/tubes.
Bottom Line:Look,I've been riding mountain bikes since the mid- eighties. I was born in and have lived in Colorado for my whole life. I've ridden Trails from Ft. Collins to Moab and everything in between. I ride the famous trails of Fruita and the lesser known, much more difficult, technical, and better trails of the Tabaguache Trail system at least four days a week. I can say without a doubt that I have never enjoyed these trails as much as I have on the 575. Does it climb like my Epic? Of course not! It isn't supposed to. You won't beat XC weight weenies to the top of the ridge but you will clean the stuff they get off and walk up. If you are in any kind of riding shape at all the extra weight isn't going to keep you from climbing to the top of your favorite trails and I bet if you built the 575 up differently and got the carbon rear end you could get it down within a pound or two of most full-sus "race bikes." Personally, I love climbing those nasty ledges and rock strewn chutes that make others dismount. What about the downhills? Well, I am an extremly aggressive descender and I must say that there is no better feeling than riding the 575 downhill! It holds a line and corners with authority. Drops, ledges, jumps, rocks the size and shape of cabbage patch dolls, there is't much out there that this bike won't go over or down! If you've been thinking about getting the 575 DO IT! If you were thinking about the Enduro Pro 20 package but worried about the extra LB's DON'T!!! Even the most jaded anti-all-mountain/freeride "died in the wool old-school" riders will convert to the church of the Yeti 575 if they throw a leg over one. Demo one and make your decision, you won't be disappointed!

If you live in western Colorado or are just passing through go see the guys at Ruby Canyon Cycles! They're the best for a reason, because they love riding and kick-ass bikes.

Bottom Line:I love this bike. I use it from everyday local trail riding to 24 hour racing. It climbs unbelievably with very little bob and even when I occasionally climb out of the saddle it hardly bobs( also thanx to my amazing Float XTT fork). On the downhill it handles like a dream and if you happen to loose your line its extremely forgiving, I have only stacked it once and that's because my brake calipers were loose and the font wheel locked. There are a lot of unbelievable bikes out there with rave reviews, I have not ridden that many, but what I will say is that if you want a trail bike that is sensational everywhere, even on the flippin tar road do yourself a favour and get the Yeti 575!!!

Strengths:This bike is the SHIAT!

Nothing comes close to this magic carpet ride. It climbs like a mofo, and on the descents the front tire is miles in front of you, without feeling like you're piloting a chopper. I have the TALAS front frok and out here in CO with long 3+ mile climbs it's nice to dial it down occasionally - but it handles great at 130 mm on everything (so the float RLC would do most people fine, as this is how ther're speccin the race disc in 05'.

The really cool thing about this bike is the cockpit size - it's small - it really centers your weight well - it feels weird at first, but I get on any XC styled bike now and I feel like I'm sitting on the rear tire. The ride position is way comfortable and will save your ass/back on epic rides

This bike is PLUSH! The suspension feels endless - it eats up (and has saved my ass) on many knarly descents - It auto "boofs" on drops. Everything else I've ridden since - see below - feels long, harsh and skittish.
On top of all this - it is a mean looking bike - and a respectable weight -
Weaknesses:With the RP3 there is more "bob" than the fifth element - but it makes up for it on bump absorption - and it matches the feel of the fork perfectly - I like to use the suspension vs some stiff XC style feel - once you dial this bike in (it's not hard) it is a F'n magic carpet ride !

I'd rather have the Avid Juicy sevens on here than the hayes nine carbons - oh well
Similar Products Used:Rocky Mountain Slayer - sucked - bumpy/jerky/skittish all mountain wanna be, Titus swichblade - sucked - anvil like weight coupled with crappy handling. Sant Cruz Blur - very little stadover height - nice bike - I was between a medium and large size - didn't have the endless rear travel feel of the Yeti
Specialized FSR 120 - it's not the Yeti and the I hate how specialized Spec's out there bikes with mix and match cheap sh*t but slap an XTR on the rear.
Bike Setup:Essentially stock - Race disc - Mine came with the TALAS fork - I think it comes spec'd quite nice - I'll replace stuff as it breaks
The Maxxis High Roller tires suck arse - remove them immediately and put something that actully has tread on this bike!
Bottom Line:Climb better, descend better, This bike rides like real Butter, not that vegan bullsh*t

Buy it is you have an adequate amount of technical terrain - and dig screaming fast descents

Stick with something lighter if you like to roll fast w/o the bumps.

Bottom Line:I have been a mtn biking nut for 20 yrs, and this bike is simply the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I don't know how much to attribute to Yeti, or to the collection of high tech goodies that are just as new to me - big travel, hydro disc brakes, new generation shocks...

When I rode my 5 yr old vintage sugar 2 to the shop to look at the Yeti the guys there laughed and told me the 575 was the "Sugar Eater". "My Sugar is rad", I said to myself, "I'll show these pups." Well, they were right and the sugar gathers dust in the basement.

I have only been on the bike a week, and limited to dry, easy, around town single track, but here are my impressions to date.

I have ridden the Hell out of my Fisher for 5 years, and it is the only other fs bike I have to make a comparison against- it's a little apple and oranges. The Yeti is extremely stiff and precise, allowing me to steer through the rough like I didn't believe was possible. Kudos to the Fox fork - incredibly precise and smooth compared to my old SID. I thought fork dive under braking was a fact of life, now on fast descents, while braking heavily, the fork remains active and effective. I'm 6'2" and #165, the pro pedal damping works great for me. I didn't think I would enjoy riding a bike like this on smooth, fast single track. Wrong. Drop the front travel and put the pro pedal on full and get after it! The suspension seems to improve the smooth just like it does the rough. Noticed right away that the bike puts you right in the middle of the sweet spot when carving turns. Cornering and handeling is incredible, this thing is like a modern fat ski. The Sugar 2 is like the 12 yr old 210cm GS ski - you can rip on it, but you better be real good. (Sorry about the ski comparison, nonskiers)I had the chance to spend 3 yrs in the Blue Ridge country of Western VA; this bike would be absolutely perfect for steep, rocky Eastern single track.

In short, I gained a pound or two with the Yeti, but it is WAY faster everywhere except smooth flats and gradual, smooth climbs - but who cares, smooth and flat are not where its at anyway!

Strengths:Frame design (carbon fiber pivot, asymetrical chainstays, forging integrated into frame, etc.) Yeti name (a unique bike for NorCal area), and metallic gold paint (not cheesy at all, but pretty damn cool looking)
Weaknesses:None that I've seen so far.
Similar Products Used:9 year steel hardtail rider, with some occasional trail rides on a nice, but dated Trek Y-bike, a Rocky Mountain Element. Test rode and scoped out full suspension desgins from Specialized, Cannondale, Marin, KHS, Santa Cruz, Titus, Fisher, Turner, etc.
Bike Setup:Not quite the 575 Race Disc Yeti stock setup: upgraded to Chris King heaset, XTR brakes and hubs, laced to 717 cross-country rims instead of heavier duty 813(?) trail bike rims, SRAM shifter, Eggbeater SLs. Stock components include FOx Talas, Fox Float RP3, Thomson post, WTB Rocket saddle, Yeti carbon bar. (Yeti does a good spec for the $3000 price point)
Bottom Line:Having little real riding experience on other full-suspensions designs, I can't comment on this bike compared to other designs, but can say the frame is very, very nice. I did alot of homework before investing in this bike. The unique design gets looks and envious questions from the dozens and doznes of Santa Cruz Blur and Trek Fuel riders I encounter. Lots of standover height.

The Fox Talas is cool because of its many adjustments, particularly the ability to decrease the 130mm of fork travel to 80mm, which does indeed adjust the rider on extended climbs to a preferable (for me at least) lower, more extened climbing position (like a hardtail with classic angles). Climbs real well for a bike with such travel. Sometimes I think the firmest rear shock setting is making a difference, other times I do not so much.

XTR brakes are strong, but make screeching sound, which I don't really mind like some people seem to.

The bike has a rather upright position when fork travel is at it utmost. Good for control and downhilling, but takes some getting used to for a hardtail convert. Not really the racer's choice it seems, but not a freeride tank or heavy ass trail bikeeither. More of a very light, climbing-friendly trail bike than a cross-country racer's choice.

Sometimes I find myself wishing for a lighter, quicker, firmer full-suspension, but overall I am more than pleased with my choice. I'm @%*$ing stoked actually!

Bike seems sturdy so far, not a whole lot of maintenence required. I am a little concerned about the Carbon Flex pivots over time, so we will see.

Bottom Line:Awesome trailbike. Nothing to be said about that, climbs and descends well and I can ride up as fast as my friends on their hard tails - I just have to work harder. My 5th element failed in some way that virtually locked out the suspension on the downhill that I was not aware of when I took a fast three foot drop and flattened my rim to the point of cracking it. 5th elemant rebuilt the shock for me but I had to buy new wheels, as a trail bike the mavic 717 was perhaps to light for agressive trail riding anyway. I replaced them with a burly 823 and it rocks, bugger the extra weight Anyway aside from that I am 165, 5,11 racer and this bike does it all except for racing super super fast. I race in the town series 8 times a year and ride everyday during summer so you do the math. I really love to race but I enjoy riding fast downhill just a little more. The perfect bike for steamboat with awsome single track and also Gondola access for descent only days

Bottom Line:It was hard for me to decide wich bike I was going to buy, until I ride the 575 for 1st time. Now I can say, I am glad I waited until then. Climbs great, I have done a lot technical staff that I was not able to do before, I feel faster going down, and also more control. I really do not have to worry about lines, just go. If you are out there trying to buy a trail bike do not take any decition until you ride yeti 575.

Strengths:Climbs incredibly well for a bike with so much travel. I couldn't believe it when I demoed it and had to buy. 5th element shock is so tunable, making big hits disappear while maintaining a nearly bob free ride and climbing like a 1" travel bike.
Weaknesses:Yeti sold out of the 5th element shock model before I purchased. The demo I used had the 5th element. The bike I bought had the new Fox RP3. The fox shock had plenty of bob, completely changing the ride of the bike. Since it has no threshold adjustment, you have to live with what you get. My bike shop had the idea that I am too heavy for the ProPedal valving. I weigh 200 lbs so maybe this won't be as big of a problem for lighter riders. All I can say is try before you buy. Increasing the compression preload on the RP3 reduces bob at the expense of a stiffer suspension, reducing handling. The third setting (maximum propedal?) seems like adding a big damper to the shock, removing its ability to rebound. I asked the bike shop to get me on the 5th element shock and they were able to get one from Yeti. Now I'm back on the best riding bike ever, thanks to Wheatridge cyclery and Yeti!! Forget the Fox RP3.

Bike Setup:Stock Yeti package, Progressive 5th element, Fox Float 130RLC (Awesome), XT rapidfire with Hayes Disks, Mavic 819s and Maxxis High roller tubeless.
Bottom Line:Buy this bike if you are a serious trail rider. It climbs just as well as it descends. Riding downhill is just like a dream. Just relax and let it soak everything up.
This bike rides so well I just laugh continuously. Goes over 4-5" rocks and waterbars so smoothly I have to look back to see if I actually hit them. At the same time I can actually climb technical sections better than ever before. I really can't believe what the Curnutt technology has done for suspension. Best innovation in the last 10 years!! Watch out for the 2005 Fox RP3 shock, especially if you are over 190lbs.

Strengths:Exellent Build quality, Climbs like crazy, decends silly, great component group.

Weaknesses:5th element is difficult to tune and lacks lockout. Stock maxxis high rollers are not aggressive enough for loose stuff and are unstable while cornering hard.
Similar Products Used:Tried Rocky mountian Slayer, GF cake, Klien palmino, and Ellsworth ID.
Bike Setup:Race Disk(Fox TALAS RLC and 5th Element)
Bottom Line:This bike meets or exeeds my expectations on every level. It is an absolute pleasure to ride, rear suspension tracks tenaciously while climbing and can be set up super plush for decents. Fox TALAS gets better and better as it breaks in. The bike lives up to it's reputation for being a steller all mountian super hero. If you are an aggresive trail rider this bike is an exellent choice. The 575 is clearly desighned to be lite weight and is not built for hucking. Whith in it's limitations it is perhaps the best bike in the segment, perhaps the new bench mark.

Strengths:Extremely efficient 5.75" travel bike. Climbs great and descends just as well. Plush suspension keeps the tires glued to the ground - astounding tracktion. Spec'd nicely with full XT and without dual control levers (excellent choice to stick with rapidfire.) There is not a better fork on the market than a Fox TALAS RLC! Weight: large frame is 28lbs. 2oz.
Weaknesses:Hayes disc brakes. Unfortunately I feel that Hayes has fallen behind in the brake market. If I had the choice I would have spec'd the bike with either Avid's or Hope's. The single bolt stem design dosen't do it for me.
Similar Products Used:Owned GF Sugar 2+ for two years, test ridden Giant VT and GF Cake.
Bike Setup:Stock disc set up with Egg Beater Candy SL...best pedals ever!!
Bottom Line:The frame is a work of art. Working in a bike shop I have seen all kinds of frames, and I have to say that this is the most beautiful frame I have ever seen. The weld quality, fluid formed tubing, and attention to detail has stood out over even the Ellsworth frames that I have seen.

This bike has allowed me to ride better and to ride trail sections that have not been possible before. It's more fun and has made me want to ride more, and more, and more!

- The Bling color is super cool too!

Weaknesses:No option for polished (instead of painted) frame
Some confusion over how much travel it has - advertised as 5.75" but the sales guys differd saying 5-5.25
Similar Products Used:Rocky Mountain Instince (for sale!), tested Titus Switchblade and Racer-X, Specialized Enduro Pro
Bike Setup:5th Element, TALAS fork, Hayes disc, XTR rapid rise, Conti tubeless
Bottom Line:As others have said, this bike rocks! I didn't think pedal bob was an issue for me - my RM Instinct had 4.5" front and rear but I was able to climb very effectively. My Yeti is amazing - stomping the pedals results in total power transfer. I didn't realize how much the spongy suspension on my RM affected my ability to climb (in or out of the saddle). I've never mtb'ed on a hardtail (started on a Trek 9200), so I can't compare, but my Yeti feels like every ounce of energy goes into turning the back wheel.

My RM Instinct was much quicker turning. The Yeti is much more stable. I prefer the handling of my Yeti. I am pretty good at turning, not so confident on the descents. This bike makes up for my weakness. I think that's the way to go - get a bike that helps you with your weakness instead a bike that reinforces what you already do well. I put a longer Psylo on my RM and that helped stabilize it a lot, but the Yeti is still head-and-shoulders above it on rocky and choppy descents.

The real bottom line -- I'm a better mountain biker on the Yeti. More stable, disc brakes, more and better suspension, tubeless tires - I'm sure they all play a part. I'm having more fun than I've ever had mountain biking!

Strengths:Climbs like a mountain goat and descends like a banshee! Fantastic geometry that does it all! Dare I say, "best trail bike ever?"

Bike Setup:Medium with Chris King HS, Avid Juicy brakes, Thomson stem, Talas fork, 5th Element shock, XT crank & BB & FDR & shifters, XTR Rapid Rise RDR, Mavic 819 wheels with Maxxus rubber
Bottom Line:What a great ride! This bike simply does everything extremely well! I'm a big guy (+220lbs) and this bike is robust enough to make me feel very comfortable pointing the handlebar and taking it to the trail. Exceedingly sturdy in the hairy stuff and the +5" of travel smoothes out so much of the stuff that I used to hang up on.

Once I got the suspension dialed in, I've found that this bike can tackle so many trails with minimal tuning. My only note is that it doesn't have the aggressive geometry of the Fuel that own. Might not recommend it for the hardcore XC racer looking for blazing times at the expense of comfort. That said, I feel sturdier and more comfortable on the Yeti and I can definitely clear more difficult portions of the trail (both going down and going up)... that makes me faster! The 575 equates to a stellar trail bike! This bike makes me look good!

Bottom Line:Bike weighs 28.2 lbs. it's been to Moab and Fruita twice, and done all the Denver Front Range rides, from Waterton to Hall. This bike climbs extremely well, the bottom bracket height is great, clears ledges, but you can still get back on easily. Descendig on 5.75" of travel is as plush as it sounds, it can be set up soft so you don't notice anything under 5", but a little stiffer climbs better and is still active. It's tracks well, no flexing and haven't felt brake jack. For smoother trails a 4" travel bike a couple of pounds lighter, would be a better all around bike, but if you want to go fast on the rough stuff, this is a bike that will do it well.

Bottom Line:This bike rocks! Before the 575 a Yeti ARC was the best bike I ever rode(better than the tracer). Last fall my ARC was stolen so I ordered this frame striped down the Blur to build this one up and can not say enough good about it. I did put on a fox vanilla on this bike the rear end is so solid on the 575 that it makes the vanilla feel like a spounge while climbing.Decending feels like I'm in a lay-z-boy the rear end is so active. I know the last two sentances contradict each other but there is no other way to descibe the way this bike feels. Value gets five cause not only does it cost less than a blur it bobs less also.Overall gets a five also because it is helping me get over the loss of the ARC.
