Strengths: -Ez Lock out adjust works great
-Very light for a 150mm Travel Bike
-cimbs great and inspires cofidence down steep hills
-Great all purpose bike/Fun to ride
Weaknesses: -Lots of cables
-Had problems with rear shock when first purchased
Bottom Line:
When I first got the bike the rear shock was streached and had to be replaced. I had to figure out the problem myself after my first ride. I was scuffing my pedals in corners and over obsicles because the 'sag' was to low. After internet research I figured out that with no weight on the bike the sag should be at zero, if it is not then you need yourself a new shock. After informing the Bike shop of this and them verifing this info with Scott, I got a new rear shock and have been very happy ever since. It is a very versatile bike. You can ride it XC or you can take it to the mountains and it does very well. The auto adjustable suspension comes in very handy and is very easy to use on the fly. I wound up getting this bike after getting a good deal on it ($2,100) but I am very happy with the choice even after riding the Rocky Mountain Element and The Santa Cruz Blur that I was also looking at. If your only going to own 1 bike then this is a good one to have. I set mine up tubeless almost as soon as I got it and have not had any serious mechanical issues at all after Rear shock was replaced by Scott. I would recomend some wider Bars and if you want to race it XC some faster tires.

Strengths: -smooth ride
-lots of ground clearance
-very, very efficient for climbing
-rear shock remote feature is very useful!
-xt rear derrailleur: smooth shifting!
-tons of braking power with 185mm rotors!
-already came with ultralight weight (126grams) inner tube
Weaknesses: -Fork (RS Rev 409): too stiff!! I had to set mine up to +65psi/-60psi to get 4" of travel & still feels stiff.
-cheap crankset for a bike that has $3000+ msrp!
-cheap brakes that needs to be adjusted almost everytime that rubs & squeals!
-heavy and uncomfy saddle
-seatpost diameter is special for scott only, 34.9!
Bottom Line:
For the price that I got this bike for, I think it is a great deal but if I was to buy this for more than $2200, I think this bike is too steep! The bike has the cheapest schwalbe tires nobby nic (performance) tires, SLX front derrailleur, $50 crankset, Juicy 3.5 brakes, heavy stem/handle bar/oversized seatpost,... For $2200 value, you can buy yourself a specialized FSR bike with better components that weighs in at 26 lbs.
For $1600 though, I'm very happy with the bike. Amazingly efficient for climbing, great traction control feature that really works and adjustment is on a fly! If you do a search about this bike's review, they keep mentioning about the rear shocks being stiff. If this is stiff, I dont know what plush is. This bike is very comfortable to ride on and I dont get any backpain (I have a back problem). It is almost a perfect bike! If only it was a 23 pounder bike. :) Mine came in at 29.1 lbs and it is now at 28 lbs. Dont let the weight of this bike bother you. I ride, 20 pounder xc and between these two bikes, I'm only 2 mins slower with my scott on a straight 2 mile uphill (3-6 mph) but my downhill with this bike is about 8-12 mph faster than my xc! It also gained my confidence descending on this bike. I love it!!

Strengths: Great all round bike, for ups and down.s
Weaknesses: Front Shock, seems to dive a bit even with correct pressures for my body weight. I would suggest a FOX replacement or the like.
Bottom Line:
Overall a good designed bike and the rear shock is awesome, I feel the bike is let down being a lower spec, but if you can get the bike cheaper as I did, and the upgrade parts cheap you will end up with an awesome bike for less then the RRp of the upper speced models

Strengths: The bigesst strenght is the rear Shock with the 3 ajustements, Lock, Traction and Full Travel. The weight is ok with 30 lbs. I have found that was a good climber in technical terrain.
Weaknesses: Stiffness in general, maybe a new set of wheel could help. NO REMOVABLE DROP OUT! I bent the drop out and I was able to fix it without changing the complete rear end but this is a major weakness in the design (The new 2009 has not this problem).
Bottom Line:
My bike was a 2007 and I was riding this bike for 1500 km in 6 month in all type of terrain. The price is high if you buy the new model, i suggest you to buy the at the end of the season to get a better deal.
The stock setup is fair but not outstanding...
This is a good bike and I bought a new Scott for 2009!

Strengths: Superb handling, smooth ride, ST Swiss made TC rear shock and it's handlebar adjustable rear suspension, cool-quirky look (as mentioned above) with the pull shock, really thrash-able.
Weaknesses: Nothing major so far, though the non-replaceable der-hanger is a concern long-term. Oh, as someone above mentioned, the saddle was woeful and was immediately replaced. I also notice I'm hitting the crank on logs more often than hardtail, but so are all my friends on FS bikes so I think this is common, and also the reason why 2 ring cranks with bashguards are common (like Hone and it's replacement - SLX).
Bottom Line:
I totally love this bike. It was recommended by my previous LBS owner who was a sponsored Scott rider. He raved about the Horst-link rear end (which prohibits the bike's sale in the US I'm pretty sure) in combination with the TC shock which really tracks well. After 12 months of riding I totally agree. For technical flats & climbs I use TC mode. For easier climbs and road I use lockout. For high-speed flat and descents I use full-travel. Bike handles superbly in these situations. Took it to a popular DH area in the high country for a day of chairlift shuttled descents and it did every track other than the most difficult with ease. Very impressed (obv. not as fast as an 8" travel bike, but fun and able nonetheless). Haven't had one linkage/bearing problem yet which I think is testament to the shop I got it from - they are pro's at bike setup (email me for details if you want). Same bike shop is also now authorised to service the TC shock. Overall a very capable bike. Improved my high-speed riding confidence immensely. It's been in one 24hr (the 07 Scott) and will hopefully do a 100km this year. Other than that, hundreds of km of weekend thrashing. I look forward to upgrading it with XTR/XT porn soon and bring it down to 12 - 12.5kg.
Similar Products Used: None - first FS bike owned. Have also ridden friend-owned Trance, Fuel EX & Enduro.
Bike Setup: Mods: Replaced coil Recon fork with Dual-Air U-Turn Revelation. This was included in purchase price. Very worthy replacement as this is an excellent fork - super adjustable, plush and forgiving. Also replaced saddle with WTB Pure-V Race.

Strengths: very versatile bike, climbs amazing...have been able to do climbs i struggled with b4 with ease. have cut 1/3 off my time for most practice runs from my hardtail.Has a remote switch to change from lockout, to traction control to all suspension.
Weaknesses: Rear stays break easily.. i bought it from a guy who had the same problem, so this is the second time in a year that the stays have broken
Bottom Line:
It must b a good bike seeing as they are still being manufactured with the same design for the last 3 years. it certainly has done wonders for my cycling. I would b more impressed if the frame was stronger.
It's an excellent bike for long distance rides and has been on 1 cape epic ride. very comfotable ride.

Strengths: My 2007 MC-50 have perfect up-hills capability as well as good suspending on rough rocky trails. Fair weight and set up (My set up -read below). Fork and rear suspention function very good. I use my bike for two kind of riding: rough offroad trails Training on paved (or almost paved) uphill track. I found this bike combining perfectly my riding style mainly because of the 3 locking possitions.
Weaknesses: Bottom bracket seem to me too low so pedals sometimes hit rocks (my previous bike had pobably higher BB) Standard bike come with poor saddle and crank (I recommend to upgrade them)
Bottom Line:
Very recommended FS bike. On handbar locking lever (3 posstions) gives additional riding capabilities for those who would like to pay attention and use it. Very good performance to price. My feedback is related to light-weight rider (me). If you ride rough singles or trail you may found the bike efficient for you. This bike is perfect for riders who likes rough trails (as mention above) BUT also desire to maintain the hard tail pedaling efficiency and feeling ,like I do (on good trails).

Strengths: It gets eagle eyed glances as the pull shock looks cool, is unusual
Weaknesses: the equivalent of a Citroen ie unreliable, built poorly (half of the bolts felt loose), cheap wheelset, crappy brakes
Bottom Line:
Like the old citroen xm, looks quirky, is quirky. Probably a good bike (seen reviews) but my experences are doubtful. Felt poor to ride and will probably get stolen in my area so i wouldn't buy one. If you are old ad want to get your long hair dryed once every two years and get chav's go ' sick bike man' buy one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom Line:
This is a follow up review from my last post. Netti Atom came part way and offered me a temporary part to be fitted at my expense, then removed and my part fitted, again at my expense, when it arrived in the country. That would have seen me out of pocket $100 to get on the bike 3 weeks earlier than I did. Appreciated the gesture, but I cant afford $100 for 3 weekends of riding, especially when I was not at fault. I have a mortgage and kids, thats why im riding an MC50, not an MC10. Got the part and fitted it myself. Found an excellent source of after market bearings (www.diymtb.com.au) for way cheaper than the genuine ones. All is now going well, did the 'Scott' 24hr in Canberra in October with no problems. Back in love with it again. Still reckon Netti Atom could have tried harder.

Strengths: Bang for your buck long travel all day rider. Rear shock adjustment really effective- no gimmick- climb up with no bob, come down with 5" of plush!
Weaknesses: Crappy seat- odd choice for an enduro bike- my ass hurt after 5 minutes, bent the (cheapo steel) rails first time out & replaced with decent fizik.
Bottom Line:
The upside:
I have ridden this bike for nearly 2 years- lots of club XC, enduros (8hr, 24hr, 100k etc), even some dirt crits. I go a lot faster than I ever did on my hardtail, even in the crits!
I love this bike- many a time I have been out all day on it, ridden its ass off and still come up smiling.
If youre looking for an all day racer with the goods and your $$ are limited, put this one on your shopping list.
Now the downside:
The rear shock died after 3 months, Scott sorted it quickly with a new '05 shock, but the dealer had nfi about setup- had to pay for the labour then take it home and do it myself... the setup can be a bit of a pain until you understand whats going on. Bottom pivot brgs disintegrated after a year- mega$$ for new ones. Yesterday I snapped the seatstay arm between the rear pivot and the derailleur hanger halfway through an 8hr (guess that made it a 4hr...)
btw, Id love to hear from anyone if this has happened to them- ive heard anecdotally that this is a common mode of failure.
NettiAtom (Aust. distributors) reckon up to 6 weeks for a replacement. They tell me they only stock parts in Aust for sale, not warranty. Guess they already have my money huh?
Apart from the above, I love this bike- many a time I have been out all day on it, ridden its ass off and still come up smiling. When I first rode it I found myself riding familiar trails like I was in fast forward- the amount of control was sensational after a hardtail!
I will post a followup re the broken frame, but 2 chilis for overall after the initial response from distributors.
Bike Setup: Stock '04 MC50 except for Deore discs w deore hubs & mavic rims, fizik nisene seat.

Strengths: Versatile, lightweight, good for some more extreme xc fun. Great long travel xc bike. Like riding three bikes at the same time: hardtail, short travel 90mm and a long travel 125mm by just the flick of a switch. Great climbing traction, climbs like a mountain goat!
Weaknesses: Nothing obvious. Can take a while to get the rear shock sotred out and set up to perfection but once you get that sorted there is no looking back( just now and again look to see if the other riders are still comming!). The seat is not made for a long day in the saddle.
Bottom Line:
A great all round bike for xc and more extreme riding. Great value for money.
