Strengths:
The bike is a very solid climber, incredible on the downhill and adaptive to all types of terrain.
Weaknesses:
I haven't found one yet. Maybe the white seat.

Bottom Line:
I'm making it to the top as quickly as with my Blur, but I'm much faster, safer and smiling more on the way down. The suspension is a big advance. If your riding a lot, it's expensive but worth it.

With 15 years of XC and DH racing experience, I love hitting Interbike every year and rallying "the best" that companies have to offer. Most bikes are hopelessly average. The Scott MC series, however, is an amazing standout. Very light, amazing pedaling efficiency, excellent handling. Standover height might me an issue for shorter legged folks, but that's not me. Cockpit was a little shorter than what I'm used to in this category, so downhill control was impressive. Plush as can be anywhere you need it to be, but stiff under pedaling pressure. While getting used to the lockout lever positions, I locked the bike out before stomping up a short punchy climb. I watched the shock for motion. Nothing! It wasn't until I got to the top and gave the bike an enthusiastic bounce that I realized that I had accidentally placed the lockout lever in the full open position! Once I got the positions sorted out, I realized that, unlike other bikes, Scott's lockout feel hardtail rigid. Great for racers and control freaks. A highly recommended bike. Head and shoulders above the offerings from Santa Cruz (good, but pretty average) and Specialized (clunky suspension characteristics and not nearly as "locked out" as they would have you believe). A bit pricey, but totally worth it if you can float the bill. Non replaceable derailleur hanger? Who cares. Use a hanger banger from North Shore Billet. Even if you did bash a derailleur off, any decent shop could retap the threads or drill out the hanger and install a repair hit. You're never going to take the whole hanger off. It's super burly.

Bottom Line:
The Scott MTB (all of them at my knowledge) do not have a replaceable rear derailleur hanger. Scott offers a repair kit for broken or bent hanger that do not work. Incredible for me that a 2006 MTB has these features that force a Scott owner to replace a part of the rear triangle. Suggestion: before buying a Scott ponder the problem. Great bike with some non sense.

Strengths:
Ability to adjust to a varity of situations in mountain biking on the trail. Provides fantastic traction, lock out for street or smooth uphills, and up to 5 inches of travel front and rear. Highly adjustable. Makes trail riding a no brainer just point and let her go.
Weaknesses:
Selle Italia SLR XP seat is good but I bought the more rider friendly Selle Italia SLC carbinio and also replaced the aluminium seat post with the Richy Carbon Post. Now I am stoked.

Still in use old reliable Giant super modified ATX ancient model with all new parts. Not bad but compared to the Scott no comparison.

Sweet all Shimano XTR setup except for cranks XT. Everything else Disc brakes, shifters, etc Shimano XTR
Bottom Line:
The do everything bike for trail light, efficient, versatile, climbs like a cat, lands like a kitten, and attacks the trail like a mountain lion.

SUPER LIGHT FULLY SUSPENDED XC/FR BIKE, RESPONSIVE HANDLING, ON THE FLY SUSPENSION ADJUSTABILITY, EQUALLY COMPETENT UPHILL OR DOWN, COMPACT, COMFORTABLE, FIRST QUALITY SETUP.
Weaknesses:
UM... HAVING A CARBON FIBRE SEATPOST LIKE ONE ON THE RC MODEL WOULD BE GOOD.

EVERYTHING ON THIS BIKE SEEMS TO WORK IN SUPREME HARMONY.
THE TC REAR SHOCK WITH HANDLEBAR MOUNTED THREE STAGE ADJUSTMENT IS SUCH AN ASSET... I HAVE RIDDEN ON A VERY BROAD VARIETY OF TERRAIN AND HAVE BEEN SUPRISED WITH THIS BIKES VERSATILITY.
OBVIOUS THAT THE PEOPLE AT SCOTT REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING... HAS PROVEN TO ME THAT YOU REALLY DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR... THIS SCOTT REALLY IS GENIUS!
FOOTNOTE. I CANT BELIEVE THAT YOU CANT BUY THIS BIKE IN THE USA!!!
