Strengths: ART suspension, Lyric adjustable forks & Fox shock.Weaknesses: Shifting is absolute crap on my 2012 Range 2.Bottom Line: I bought a 2012 Norco range 2 Aug 23rd from Westwood Caps, I have had very bad service just a heads up. I have owned this bike for 3 weeks but Caps has had it for half of that time so only able to somewhat ride it for 10 days.
This bike does not have consistent shifting from the upper 6,7,8 gears and the lower 3rd gear. No matter if you are shifting up or down, and sometimes it will click for a few seconds then decide to drop or jump up a couple seconds after you have completed shifting...
I took it back to the bike shop and after a few hours, then days & component swaps they realized it had a 9 speed crank on a 10 speed drive train. After reading up on the Sram web site the mechanic found that it is clearly stated that there 9 speed crank is not compatible with the 10 speed drive train.
Norco replaced the 9 speed crank set with a 10 speed and also charged me $62 dollars to install a bash-guard that came standard on the 9 speed in the 1st place...
Bike performs amazing down advanced tec trails like 7th secret, Executioner & Dream weaver on Fromme mountain but the shifting was garbage on my bike nothing but problems when I wanted to do XC trails in Squamish, shifting while climbing most times I had to get off and shift while lifting rear tire.
Not happy with Norco or bike shop but bike performs great down hill. New crank set seems to have made it better but today was my 1st ride with new crank and the shifting is still making a clicksound out of the blue and clunked down a gear a couple seconds after I changed gears????
Not sure if it`s the cheap X7 shifters with the plastic inside, I`ll know after I put on my Sram XO shifter from my King Fisher 1...
