Strengths: Great spec, pretty light, looks great, adjustable rear-end travel. It's very fast on singletrack.
It's a heavy-duty frame but quite light weight (12.8kg/28lbs).
Weaknesses: Forward weight balance.
Not sure about the Nobby Nic tyres.
The Ritchey bars are a bit strange - maybe just need to get used to them.Bottom Line: I've only had it for about 6 weeks but I love it. Of the bikes I've tested it's probably most similar to the TranceX but with more travel.
Not sure if it's a weakness, but the weight distribution is a tiny bit forward biased - great for climbing and on twisty flat bits, but not quite so great for going down. However note that it's still a fun bike going down, you just need to be vigilant on keeping your weight back.
I've ridden it in long XC/enduro races and it was good fun - reduced the travel in the rear (down to 4.5"/116mm), firmed up the forks, and it is quite an efficient mile-munching machine.
5 for value, 4 for overall (because of weight balance).
Favorite Trail: Gap Creek
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
Price Paid:
$2500.00
Purchased At: Bike Hub Woolloongab
Similar Products Used: Tested Commencal Meta, Giant Trance X, Scott Genius.
However this is my first duallie.
Bike Setup: 2010 Fluid SE Stock: XT, Raceface, Ritchey, Avids.
Avid Elixir R brakes are sensational. It's a heavy-duty frame but quite light weight (12.8kg/28lbs). WTB seat looks extreme, but is actually very comfy on long rides. No travel adjust on fork (would have loved a TALAS fork), but that's being picky - the fork is great.

Strengths: I only got out on this for the first time today. Frame is nice and tight and with the XTR groupset it just rocks! Price is pretty good considering full XTR components. XTR Shifters!!! You need these on your bike full stop!Weaknesses: None so far but I'll update if anything goes wrong.Bottom Line: Well I got to use this bike for the first time today. Man this is such a sweet bike. It climbs like a demon. Rocky and rooty stuff was a breeze and a huge improvement over my hardtail. I have not had a chance to to give much of a downhill run yet so I will update this when I have. Can I say that the XTR shifters are the best I have ever used. Such a slick and smooth motion. I had tried about 8 bikes before settling on this and the others just didn't work for me. I am not a great rider but this bike definitely inspired a hell of a lot more confidence in me and I was doing things that I baulked at in the past. It's a personal thing but if you are in market for a strong All mountain/ XC bike then this is definitely worth a test ride.
