Strengths:Very balanced Bike. Handles great and doesent feel fragile like some older Marin designs. It is a great all around bike. (All Mountain)? I like the rear susp just fine. I am a Large Cat at 6'2 265lbs
Weaknesses:None so far.

Bottom Line:Killer Bike, love it more everytime I ride it. Plus you dont see many Marins on the trails around here, Specialized owns Florida. 2007 Model

Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Fast, Quick responses, Superb climber, Stable descender, Completed sorted geometry and stiff rear end, exciting to ride.
Weaknesses:None
Bottom Line:Mine is also the 2006 model and I have to agree that this is the most sorted and very best of the Marin quad-link designs. Stiffer rear end and better pro-pedal shock gets the best out of the suspension and it really is one of the best full suspension cross-country rigs out there. Some clever little gussets have stiffened the frame in different places and the forks, together with the whole package for me is brilliant. Just a point...I also have tried the new shape 2007 model and it is much heavier/chunkier bike, less nimble and more a Freeriders bike than a sorted and fast XC bike like this one!

Favorite Trail:Glentress
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:Leisure lakes
Strengths:Fast and light. Very good climbing abilities and traction with excellent rear shock and front forks. Feels quick and handles line turns quickly. Responsive and nimble yet strongly built. Stiffer rear triangle than previous models and triple sealed cartridge bearings. Lifetime warranty on the frame and bearings.
Weaknesses:Just slightly high bottom bracket.
Similar Products Used:Too many to write down in 25 years of riding.
Bike Setup:Stock except I have fitted Formula Oro K24 brakes....excellent!
Bottom Line:Mine is the 2006 model, and it is the best of the quad design that Marin have made.
Demo rode the new 2007 model last week (the weird shape) and was well disappointed as it is heavy, a poor climber and slow at turning, especially tight turns ...I felt like I was riding on top of a Cart Horse!!. Not agile like this 2006 one and that is what made me write thios review. If you can still get a 2006 one then get it because it is the best of the Marin's as they have sorted out all the minor niggles and it's cheaper. Mine is just so quick and feels exciting. An extra inch of travel (if you can get that) does not make up for weight and slowness.

Favorite Trail:Marin
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Leisure Lakes
Strengths:Low weight and a very well balanced, quick and responsive. Upgrades to previous models have made the steering quicker. Quad Link system is plush and the pro-pedal Fox shock allows for efficient climbing.
Weaknesses:A little high off the ground.
Bottom Line:This is for the 2006 model.
Small changes to the frame to stiffen the swingarm together with the pro-pedal Fox R shock makes this bike a real winner. As far as XC full suspension goes this is a blast to ride. I have returned to short travel suspension after a year with 6" of "All Mountain" bike and I have to say that it is much more versatile and engaging to ride a "short" travel bike like this. Well made and well designed, fast and engaging. Also....let me say..this bike sells for a very reasonable price compared to most competitors and it has a Lifetime Warranty on the Frame and all the Bearings!!

Date Reviewed: October 11, 2006
Favorite Trail:memorial park houston texas
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1900.00
Purchased At:sun&ski sports
Strengths:frame structure, suspension, wheels
Weaknesses:crank barings, had to replace after about 16 rides@ 130 miles. break fluide is weak.
Bike Setup:raceface crank baring and front outer sprocket. planet x down hill bars with wodoo riser. ODI lock grips. thompson seat post with WTB gel seat.
Bottom Line:As a has-been BMX racer converted to a trail rider, i enjoy going out every weekend thrashing on my rift zone. It has been able to perform to my expectations. I like to get air, I dont like braking for turns. During up hill challenges i give out before the bike does. There hasn't been a desending trail that I've shied from yet. Bottom line if I had to purchase another bike I would special order a rift zone if it was avalible locally.
