Favorite Trail:Anything in Mammoth
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Purchased At:Bike Bling
Strengths:Great bike climbs like a demon trying to escape from hell i.e. Great, but can still bomb most downhill with ease and handle small to medium drops and jumps.
Weaknesses:I only got to demo the bike for a week so I dident really get a chance to totally dile it in for my weight (over 200 lb's) and riding style, but it still perfomed great but if I had to find a weakness I would have to fault the over the front geometry that the bike has, on steep downhill the bike puts alittle to much weight on the front fork. I demo'ed the Felt's next step up bike the Redemtion the week before and it seemed to suffer from the same problem and after some research online it seems to be a common complaint I guess Felt measured the geometry in sag as aposed to measuring with know sag. By my last ride on the Compulsion I adjusted the fork settings and it seemed to help but it still felt like it wanted to put me over the bars every chance it could. But my demo dident have the Fox Talis fork like it was sposed to it had a Rock Shox P.I.K.E. Which is fairly similar but might not have helped the geometry of the bike much.
Similar Products Used:Felt Redemtion, Giant Reign, Giant VT two
Bike Setup:Stock level one except for the fork
Bottom Line:Great bike I fell in love with it. Felt hit one out of the park when they designed the rear suspension it climbs even better then a 29 pound bike should even if you leave the shock on, I dident even try it in pro pedal or lock out I dident need to and I hate to climb I ride to go fast downhill not to go slow uphill but with this bike it almost made climbing fun. Bombing downhill is also a blast on this bike, with 5 and a half inches of travel it soaks up most anything you can through at. The only thing I would change WHEN I buy this bike is the front fork I think if I put a longer fork on it would make the bike a 10 out of 10 instead of the 9.5 its at now. But even if I had to keep it the way it is I wouldent complain.
