Strengths: amazing equipment for price paid.very stiff on the trails.good job uphill as well.suspension is top notch. great BB clearance. this bike is a killer enduro, great for bikeparks and freeride tooWeaknesses: The hammerschmidt has its downsides too. First is the drag in overdrive and the noise. I also get some cracking noise on hard climbs.the X9 rear mech's jockey wheel got grinded in the cassette on first ride. put on a KCNC instead of SRAM crap and it works fine. the original wheels on my X9 are the worst piece of plastic crap i have ever seen...but that's an SRAM problem and not canyon's.
also no customer support-hope i won't be needing any.Bottom Line: after owning the 314 lapierre zesty (among others) this bike weighs only 1,5 kg more in large and climbs just as well (16,1 kg vs. 14,6kg on zesty). I'm a big guy (6'2 and 190 lbs) so the weight makes little difference on climbs.but it rocks downhill. it's incredibly stiff yet easy to handle. it rockets through fast rock gardens with amazing confidence and forgives rider errors. other day i came too fast to a very steep section of loose boulders and couldn't control my line till i hit a solid 2 foot rock on the side. with my old bike that spelled disaster but the trailflow managed to go over it like a joke. it really inspires confinedce. if you want a REAL do it all bike this one has little competition. it handles long alpine climbs with ease and keeps pace with lighter AM bikes. on the way down it rides like a freeride monster (worlds better than the old perp).
