Favorite Trail:Cherokee/Seneca
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1899.00
Purchased At:bikesdirect.com
Strengths:Lightweight titanium, top-notch components.
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:Specialized Rockhopper hardtail 26"
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:Could't be happier. This light 29er climbs noticeably better than my 26" bike and the components are crisp and smooth.

Removing the 50-60% mark-up you would see from a bike shop allows you to get a bike that would retail for over $4k at a bike shop delivered to your door for under $2k.

Bikesdirect actually shipped the bike early.

Buy this if: you want a lightweight 29er with top of the line components for a bargain.

Don't buy this if: you are snoody about name brand recognition and like paying too much at bike shops.

Favorite Trail:THE LUGE
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1899.00
Purchased At:BIKES DIRECT
Strengths:GREAT RIDE, EVEN BETTER PRICE. CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THEY LOAD THIS FRAME UP WITH SUCH EXCELLENT COMPONENTS, FORK, WHEELS, AND THEN THROUGH IN A TI FRAME FOR UNDER $2K
Weaknesses:TIRES-SMALL BLOCK EIGHT TIRES JUST AREN'T TOUGH ENOUGH FOR SOCAL ROCKS AND CACTUS. ALREADY HAD TWO FLATS IN LESS THEN TWO WEEKS. PROBABLY WILL CHANGE OUT TIRES AND TO TO STANS
Similar Products Used:YETI 575
Bike Setup:CHANGED OUT THE SMALL 22" FLAT ALUMINUM BARS WITH LO RISER CARBON, MAKING A REAL IMPROVEMENT IN PERFORMANCE AND STEERING POWER
Bottom Line:LOVE THE BIKE, LOVE THE PRICE.
CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THEY DO IT, MAKING A BIKE THIS GOOD WITH XTR, ELICUR CR BRAKES, OTHER TOP LINE COMPONENTS, NICE WHEELS ALL ON A BEAUTIFUL TI FRAME. BIKESDIRECT DELIVERED THE BIKE ON TIME AS PER THEIR COMMITMENT. SET UP WAS WAY TO EASY.
FAST, FUN, COMFORTABLE, AND REASONABLY PRICE.......WHAT MORE CAN YOU WANT

Favorite Trail:Nisene Marks
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:BikesDirect
Strengths:Amazing bang for the buck
Weaknesses:Great components with a couple of exceptions
Bike Setup:XTR...new cassette 32T and new chain
Bottom Line:This bike has been a kick in the pants... I went down Nisene marks which is normally a full-suspension playground and was surprised how will it handled the rough downhill sections. The only thing I had a problem with was that I broke my chain on my second ride ( El Corte Madera ). The chain and cassette are only slight drawbacks -- easily replaced and now no problems at all. What a deal!!

Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:Bikesdirect.com
Strengths:Lite weight,components, price.
Weaknesses:Bar grips
Similar Products Used:Univega MTB
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:Lets see... a titanium framed hard tail 29er with high end components to your door for < 2K. The only thing missing is the Litespeed sticker and the 5K tag.
I use mine as commuter(some would consider this blasphemy)but this bike is a hoot to ride on the road. I've ordered some Schwalbe Marathon slicks so my ride is smoother and sans knobby hum from the pavement.

Strengths:Lightweight Ti Frame, top end components, smooth ride, handles and performs well, excellent value for a great bike!
Weaknesses:Too many people are finding out about this excellent deal on this awesome bike and reducing my chances of winning any races ;)
Similar Products Used:Niner, Specialized, Trek, Jamis, Canondale
Bike Setup:Everything stock accept: crankbrother eggbeater 3Ti pedals, Maxis Ardent Tires and Ergon GX1 Grips
Bottom Line:This is an amazing bike for the $$$. It weighed in at 24.5Lbs complete out of the box, (before changing anything). Any naysayers have to see and ride this to really appreciate. The components are truly top notch. I'm seriously conflicted writing this review as I don't want so many people to have the same bike as I but I must complement Motobecane and bikesdirect for offering such a great bike for such a low price. I've increased my avg speed on a typical ride by a mile per hour and the performance has been nothing less than steller for the few races I've used it in so far. It definitely exudes confidence and gives a comfortable ride equivalent to a full suspension. My only recommendation is to switch out the grips - my preference is the Ergon GX1 and the tires. The Kenda Small block tire is quite fast with low rolling resistance and performs well on dry trails, however it is thin walled and I need something that can handle wet and technical conditions. These are only minor things you might have to change out on any new bike to meet your personal preference. So I give the Motobecane FLY 29er Ti a BIG 5 Flaming Chilis!!!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1795.00
Purchased At:bikesdirect.com
Strengths:Ride quality and responsivness, low weight,
Weaknesses:Narrow bars and crap grips. replaced with Easton Monkey lite high rise and ODI locking grips.
Similar Products Used:Motobecane Phantom Pro.
Bike Setup:Stock except bars, grips.
Bottom Line:Sucker Flys, It is actualy fun to ride on pavement, forget I am on a MTN bike and start chasing rodies. I bought the Phantom pro for a trip to Moab in April. I loved the big wheels but not the weight. Sold that at and bought the TI Fly. When I was riding in MOAB I was decending trails I would never even try on my 26. I could power through the sand traps that stopped fitter lighter riders on 26 inch bikes. The TI frame is great. The real feel of steel beats the dead aluminum ride. Great all around ride esp. for 6'2' Clydesdale.

Favorite Trail:Stroud's Run, Ohio
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:Bikes Direct
Strengths:Great geometry and a strong component set that balance weight and performance with price. The bike is very efficient and delivers immediate pedal response. I am having to adjust to riding everything faster. Product delivery via mail order is VERY well done.
Weaknesses:Minor: chain slap, stock cassette may be challenging on very steep climbs, bars are narrow
Similar Products Used:None.
Bottom Line:Excellent bike, very pleased with this ride! This replaces my OLD proflex 555 and serves as the bike I use to ride everything. At the park I primarily ride, I can now clear things I used to have trouble with. I feel much more confident on downhills. Climbs are now much easier, so I either climb them faster or climb the old speed and arrive at the top fresh. Many times I find myself coasting while the guys I ride with are pedaling, so the efficiency is nice too!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:bikesdirect.com
Strengths:Wow is this thing light, great componentry, well built and best of all the price!
Weaknesses:The only weakness is that it is set up as a XC race bike. Example being the 22" handle bar. For a couple hundred bucks you can change some components for everyday trail riding.
Similar Products Used:Only used 26" full suspension bikes prior to this my first 29er. Going from a squishy to a hard tail is noticable in the rougher parts of the trail, but I can notice an immediate improvement on roll over and momentum.
Bike Setup:The only thing I have changed from the original set up is I swapped out my handle bar for a Easton Monkey Lite XC low rise.
Bottom Line:The bike is not only beautiful, but beautifully made. Five chilies straight across the board.
