Favorite Trail:Vail Lake Temecula
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1500.00
Purchased At:Performance Bike
Strengths:I'm 6'0, 175 Lbs and ride a Large 9r. I'm an intermediate rider and enjoy cross country. This bike has been awesome climbing steep ascends. Definitely need to stay in the saddle for the i-drive to work when it gets steep. This thing goes over anything downhill and is fairly fast. Very comfortable for long rides.
Weaknesses:The front fork (Reba SL) has been good when it working right, but lost some oil and little air and busted a washer. The rear shock (Monarch 3.1) does fine but it's too short of a stroke. This bike wont allow you to et a longer stroke rear shock. This 29er bike does not turn sharp like a 26er but it's made it more fun and challenging.
Similar Products Used:Haro full suspension X1
Bike Setup:I replaced the grips with ERGO grips and that made it more comfy. I have about 130lbs+ and 110lbs- on the front and about 230lbs on rear shock.
Bottom Line:I am happy with purchase just bitter at Rockshox. The LX components and XT rear derailer are suitable for this bike. Weighs about 30-31 lbs. Can be lighter. Oh well...looking forward to another 29er!

Favorite Trail:Spring Mtn, Wiss, FC, High Rocks
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1500.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Front fork, drive train and brakes.
Weaknesses:Rock Shox Monarch 3.1 looses 30 psi per ride.
Similar Products Used:2001 i-drive 3.0
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:This is my 1st 29er and I'm pleased. I was going to build up a Niner RIP but I got a deal on the bike that was just too good to pass up. The entire built bike (with very nice components) cost less than my discounted build kit. The 29" wheels take some getting used to for sure. Not as twitchy and flickable as a 26" but it tanks over most anything. At first the larger wheels would make me late and I'd miss my lines straying into rocks and boulders that would send you ever the bars on a 26". So long as you peddled thru it, this thing would blow over it all...very forgiving. I initally wanted more rake but if you trust them the wheels compensate and now I've learned how to ride it (fairly well) I'm more confident on steeper, techy, rockier terrain. No brainer for the budget mined looking for a FS 29er. The Rock Shock Monarch 3.1, as reviewed by other has been the only disapointment. I loose ~35psi per ride but I won't let that overshadow its selling points. I perfer a coil anyway, but the odd 6.0” x 1.25” size is proving difficult to find.

Favorite Trail:Porcupine Rim
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1500.00
Strengths:Well thought out design with good attention to detail. Parts spec is great. Climbs as good or better then my BLT Blur, great through roots. The rear end rides like a 80-90mm when traveling with big speed on rougher downhills.
I didn't notice a difference in spin up from my other light bikes.I measured a slacker head angle but it was good. Headset design is great, cartrige bearings straight into frame. good cable layout
Weaknesses:Short stoke shock...thats it!
Similar Products Used:Owned Several DW Link Iron Horses, Blur's, VP Free, Light Giant Trances and Reigns.
Bike Setup:Replace rims stips with tape (60 grams), WTB laserdisc Lite hub and butted spokes, Carbon bar and 250 gram FSA Post, Devo saddle, lite grips, XO rear D and grip shift, lighter older XT front D.
Bottom Line:Bike is fun to ride up and down. Light enough at 27.5 lbs. Should get it down under 27 with rear hub and Pythons. Started having fun jumping at the end of my first ride and flatted. Tubeless maybe down the road will help. GT doesn't offer the bike in Canada yet.

Favorite Trail:Demo Forest
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Set the stage: I am 6'4" and 195lb's, aggressive and typically ride my mountain bike like my dirt bike.
The 29' wheels take a bit to get going but once you are at speed the bike is super smooth and takes small to medium hits with ease. Large hits and small drops were a bit harsh on the rear suspension. There is a bit of lag in the steering in the tight stuff but on my third and fourth ride I started to get the feel.
Be sure to check the front derailleur as the stock cable housing rubbed the back tired when the shock was under load. It was a quick fix.
Rear shock needs to be dialed in for the best performance.
The bike climbed really well and I liked the lock out on the front RS Reba. The i-drive kept the rear tire on the ground. On the steep stuff you must stay in the saddle for the i-drive to really bite in and get traction.
Overall I am happy and will step it up a bit on tonight’s ride.
Weaknesses:29'S take a bit to get going and steering a bit slow in the tight stuff. Nothing you can adapt to.
Bottom Line:Bottom line is I like the bike. It climb better than my Blur LT and for a tall guy I like the set up with the 29'ers and the overall smoothness of the ride. Washboard never felt so good.
