Strengths:    Light, top of the line parts

Weaknesses:    Superlight tires are very thin and I cut a sidewall on my 1st race

Bottom Line:
Holy Crap this bike is sweet! The XX drivetrain is the real deal. I was skeptical about this whole 29er thing and I loved my old Gary Fisher Hardtail but it got real tired after last season. The 29er is fast and smooth. On the downhills it rolls REALLY fast and almost feels like a very short travel full suspension bike because the ride is so smooth.

What a ride!

Strengths:    Hard to say.

Weaknesses:    Frame at left chain stay lower cracked all the way after three rides, one XC race without an impact.

Bottom Line:
Specialized dealer Old Town Bicycles in Gig Harbor, WA. immediately accused me of causing the damage. Specialized denied the warranty stating damage was caused to impact. This bike has not been worth the price. Specialized has not honored their warranty and do not care about their consumer. They offered a crash replacement at $1600, but who wants to go through this experience again. This frame in my opinion is a $2600 disposable item. Never again will I purchase a Specialized bike product. Done.

Strengths:    light, 29er, great fork, smooth drivetrain, great handling

Weaknesses:    front hub bearings wore out after 1 month, Sram XX brakes

Bottom Line:
love the ride just has a few bugs, front hub needs some kinda seal upgrade. most likely buy it again and just sell the wheelset and brakes before using them and go with something with less maintenance.

Strengths:    Light - 20.5 lbs with pedals - Large custom build. Shockingly smooth for a hardtail. Quick handling.

Weaknesses:    2nd bottle cage won't allow for large bottle.

Bottom Line:
Great bike all around. Very, very happy with the purchase. I still can't believe it's a hardtail - it's just that smooth. read more on my blog.

Strengths:    Light and fast! Only 21 lbs including eggbeater SLs and 2 bottle cages. Excellent handling!

Weaknesses:    Might be geared a little high for the Eastern U.S.trails.

Bottom Line:
A great bike! You might have to lower the gearing for steep climbs. Very light and fast! Handles and climbs excellent. The geometry is "spot on"! One could slap 650B's on it,which would lower the bottom bracket 3/4" and the gearing a bit and have the fastest and lightest 650B bike out there!
