Strengths:    Great component spec!!
Rigid rear triangle.
Great geometry for pedal up - BOMB down

Weaknesses:    Long chainstays
not a "cutting edge" rear suspension design

Bottom Line:
I got a great deal on a Demo Mason FS PRO. The components spec with the Easton Haven wheels and Fox CTD suspension was hard to pass up.
My biggest reservation before buying this bike was the 2000's era single pivot rear suspension design. On the first couple rides, I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance of the rear suspension. It works great when you match the CTD on the shock to the trail conditions, but can be a little bouncy if pedaling in "D". It stays active except under Very heavy braking.

The best thing about this bike is the geometry. Climbs better than my Stumpjumper did because the longer chainstays keep the front wheel on the ground and the 66.5 deg HT just wants to go faster on the downhills.

I originally thought I would buy the bike and replace the frame within the first couple years, but the more I ride it, the more I like it. Overall a great value.

Rode the Mason hardtail and Mason FS, here are my observations

So yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the diamondback demo at one of my local trails 10 miles from my house, doesn't get much better than that location wise for me. So I went in with high spirits ready to ride a Mason and a carbon overdrive, maybe even a sortie. I ended up riding the Mason ... Read More »

Mason FS pro/standard pricing

The other thread mentions the pricing on the HT bikes, but I didn't see anything about the FS pricing. So I just gave DB a call. Mason FS Pro: $6,000 MSRP Mason FS: $3,500 MSRP Guy said both bikes are shipping the second week of September. Honestly, I think DB is out of their mind char ... Read More »

New Mason FS

Man I look at this bike and just think it should have been a 27.5er instead of a 29er. That would make it a real in-betweener or true All-Mountain Read More »
