Schwalbe Hans Dampf Super Gravity Pro Review

Now this is an interesting tire, the Hans Dampf Super Gravity 650b/27.5 tire. We have it in this new wheel size but it is also available in 26er. It is kind of an enigma but it makes sense as it has a kevlar bead, a downhill sidewall casing with dual carcass but single carcass under the tread. So what you have is a very supportive sidewall but still a compliant casing under the tread. This not only saves weight but gives the tire a better footprint and traction as well. It’s a hybrid of a DH tire and XC tires. It’s a patented construction type that no other company has yet to develop. Continue reading →

Strengths:    Good traction, easy to fit tubeless, front 2.35 740g & rear 2.2 580g. Roll well & handle predictably.

Weaknesses:    Could be a bit cheaper?

Bottom Line:
Very happy with them, better than the nobby nick & racing Ralph combo I was using. I use them in mainly pine forest, but found them good in wet conditions & roots/rock.

Hans Dampf Tread Tearing/ Conti Width Accurate?

My Trigger 29er1 came with a set of Hans Dampfs. I like the tires well enough but after a couple hundred miles the lugs are starting to tear off the sides of the tires. Is this common on these tires? I might get in touch with my LBS and see if they can warranty them. If I can't get my Hans Da ... Read More »

Hans dampf tire mod? Knob removal

Lately I've been seeing photos of the Hans Dampf being used by pros with some knobs removed. I've seen this done by Gaint team riders, Lars Stienberg and a few other riders. They all claim reduced weight, faster rolling with out any loss in traction. Some even claimed better corner traction. Curio ... Read More »

Stan's Arch and Hans Dampf personal review

Thought I'd share my experience on here in case someone was thinking of going the route I did. So I bought a 2012 Spech stumpy comp ht last year and loved this thing. Only part of the bike that left me unimpressed was the tires. Stock it came with spech renegades. I have to admit that they roll ... Read More »

Stan's Arch + Hans Dampf + tubeless + slow leak = normal?

Before I go out and possibly kill myself from my tire popping off the rim just want to make sure I've done things proper. Over the winter I bought some used Stan's Arch's and just this week got my tire to go with it. The Schwalbe Hans Dampf 29x2.35 - tubeless 2 days ago I mounted the tire on ... Read More »
