Finally I have a modern trail bike without having to modify dedicated XC "race" bikes. Reynolds 520 tubing, short chainstays, long low and slack angles.

This is the 2016 bike, bought for a considerable reduction in the rrp. I was unsure of sizing so at 175cm I went for the large size. LBS swapped the 70mm stem for a 50mm but supplied a 31.8 bar size, which I happily accepted cause I had a Haven carbon bar to suit. Also upgraded the wheelset to the Roval Traverse Fatty SLs. Reducing the wheel weight from 2059gms to 1550gms, obviously made a big difference in the feel of the bike.
My previous ride was a Ibis Mojo SLR, and to my surprise (according to Strava) I keep setting records on sections of trails on this wonderful steel hardtail.

This is my first 27.5 bike, but in steel have had a Niner MCR 29er and RM Blizzard 26". Ti hardtails include Lynski Pro 29er and Voodo D-jab 26".

For Titanium version: All-day bike that can handle uphill as well as shred on the downhill. Sliding dropouts accommodate single-speed or geared. Cantilevered rear axle has lots of "spring", almost like a soft-tail. Tons of rear tire clearance, almost enough for running a 26+ tire. 2.5" tires no problem. Super short (and adjustable) chainstays make it highly maneuverable. Standard size threaded BB, standard headset, 31.6 seatpost--all standard stuff! Made in USA at Lynskey's factory.

No internal dropper routing on the 2015 (fixed in 2016 i think).

Review is for a 2015 Kona Explosif Ti. Absolutely gorgeous American-made bike with an incredible geometry. As comfortable going uphill as tearing it up on the downhill. Rigid frame when pedaling, but compliant ride from cantilevered rear axle. Should last a lifetime!
