a good bike if you are beginning mountainbiking, if i was you i would get a cheap pair of shocks and toeclips or clippless pedals

This bike is strong and light for the bucks. I got it on sale for $199.99 with a free $30 helmet. It take a pounding and keeps going. I am 230 lbs. and it holds up great on some tough trails here in Austin.
I highly recommend this bike to folks on a tight budget. The Crom-Moly frame is a perfect entry level bike that can be added to as the wallet permits.

It's rigid, but some people still ride them.

Fun bike to cruise on. It's not a single speed and it's not a true hardcore mountain bike, it's just in between stages.
