Strength:

relatively lite for an entry level bike, drive train components work well. very strong frame stands up to alot of abuse.

Weakness:

components could be upgraded, get rid of the gripshifts.
tires are to soft and heavy.

Very good bike. takes an asswhoopin and keeps on going. With a few modifications you can have one hell of a bike.

Strength:

Looks good

Weakness:

Cheap spokes-broke after one month of STREET riding. The teeth on the gears are wearing into a sharp point. The tires are a very cheap rubber- be fortunate if you get at least one year of riding before they wear a hole.

The BIGGEST piece of junk I have ever owned!!!! I will never buy another Nishiki as long as I live. Even if I am on a island by myself and this is the only form of transportation I will not ride it. It will break and fall apart!!! Oh by the way: new stainless steel spokes will set you back about $50, so add that into the price when you buy it and if you don't have the tools, then add another $50.

Bottom Line: the bike will cost you AT Least $550

A good note is that thanks to this poor excuse for a bike, I am now the proud owner of a new TREK 8000 which I LOVE. (Should have spent the money for the TREK in the begining)

Strength:

great overall performance for a beginner.

Weakness:

low-end front shock, but you get what you pay for.

This is a great bike for the money. I shopped for a long time and this bike is by far, the best value i have found.

Strength:

Good bike for the entry level rider. With proper care and service will bring lots of nice rides.

Weakness:

Some of the components could be upgraded, but what do you expect for a $450 bike?

Good bike for the entry level rider. Everyone must start somewhere right? The problems that were encountered was due to the fact that I didn't buy the bike from a dealer. After I bought it I took it to a dealer and they tuned it for a little next to nothing. The bike rode perfect after that!

Frame

Weakness:

None

This bike takes a beating and keeps on going. I am over 200 lbs. and this bike takes the punishment. It is great for mountain biking and roading. The frame is stiff for great acceleration and also absorbs the shock very well. The fork might not be the highest quality, but I think it is still good! I would buy another Nishiki. I have had no complaints!

Price & dependability

This bike has been great. I'm over 6'2" / 240 lbs. and this bike hasn't had problem one. I'm still currently putting 75+ miles a week on it and it's still working great. Getting ready to upgrade components and keep the bike another few years. The frame seems indestructable so the upgrades will make it like new. Great for anyone wanting a mid-priced bike that can deliver years of dependable enjoyable service.
