Bottom Line:This is by far the best water bottle on the market today. It is a bit pricey, but it's worth it. It keeps stuff colder for longer than any container i have ever used, and they look great. Everyone should have a polar bottle!

Bottom Line:For sweltering summer heat it is well worth the trade off of having 3 less ounces than a standard bottle due to the insulated wall thickness. Full of ice cubes will stay cold for up to two hours. If you freeze the bottle contents (be sure to leave 1.5" top-gap for expansion--it will chill up to 4.5 hours). I've had trouble with heat exhaustion, so have experimented considerably. In the earlier 80's, used from 1 - 3 layers of tube socks (for differing thaw-time rates)over standard bottles for 100 mile rides: four bottles--two iced, two frozen. Yep, should have invented the Polar instead. Anyone know or concerned about PBA content?

Bottom Line:I have had my Polar Bottles since about 1993 and they have been the best investment I ever made in biking/hiking equipment. They are still able to keep my water cold for several hours. The valves slip and don't stay up all the time, but they still work just fine.

I won't use any other kind of bottle! Go bear go! The new bottles look great, but I can't give up my old friends just yet.

Strengths:Keeps icy drinks icy a lot longer than regular bottles, especially on 90-degree plus days.
Weaknesses:A little hard to clean, but spray in a little Clorox and swish it around, no problem. Plastic is stiffer than clear bottles, so you need to squeeze harder.

Strengths:Keeps your favorite beverage cool a lot longer than a plain bottle.
Weaknesses:The new style 20oz bottle no longer fits on the seat tube carrier on my GF's small frame bikes.
Similar Products Used:Generic LBS bottles
Bike Setup:'05 Stumpjumper Expert 120 and '07 Tarmac Expert
Bottom Line:I've been using Polar bottles for years. They do a great job keeping fluids cool. I can usually still have a cool drink after an hour or more into a hot ride. They do a much better job than any plain bottle.

As for cleaning, I've never had a problem. I rinse them out as soon as I get home from a ride. I have forgotten to clean them on occasion and they needed more than a "rinsing". A bottle brush like the one in a Camelbak cleaning kit works great.

Strengths:Keeps ice water colder longer, easy to fill with ice cubes
Weaknesses:A bit large but that is to be expected with the insulation. Need a dish brush to clean thoroughly.
Similar Products Used:Uninsulated water bottles
Bike Setup:Fisher Tass
Bottom Line:Fill it with ice and water and it stays cold about an hour in 90 - 95 deg heat. Good for short rides when you don't need much water and don't want to bother with the Camelbak. If you want ice water to stay cold for hours, get a Camelbak Unbottle, wrap it in a towel, and put it in a daypack.

It would be nice to have a Polar Bottle version with a "fuzzy sleeve" for evaporative cooling in dry climates.

Bike Setup:Cannondale Road Warrior 1000, Brooks B-17 special, Thudbuster, ATAC pedals and Conti twister pro tires.
Bottom Line:Sorry to say I have found a bottle that keeps liquids colder longer than the Polar! It is the Zefal Isotherm. I ordered four (they came from France in about a week). The bottles were 7.06 each and four cost 12+ for shipping, not bad at all.I fill each leaving a couple inches at the top, with gatorade mix and a shot or two of lemon juice - put in the fridge overnight, fill with ice cubes next morning and put in the freezer for an hour or so before I leave. The same as I fix the Polar bottles. These stay colder longer!

Bike Setup:Specialized Cirrus, 105 components.
Trek 970, LX&XT components, Manitou fork.
Bottom Line:It was tought to spend 5x more $$ on a bottle until you get an hour into a ride and no cold drink. What works best is to take this Polar bottle and a regular uninsulated bottle full of ice and gatorade or water. Consume the regular bottle first, and the polar is still nice and cold for the second half of the ride. I will probably buy another polar bottle so I don't have to deal with sweat on the uninsulated bottles. Buy this bottle if you ride for more than 30 minutes. 4 Flamin' chilis for price, 5 overall because it does what it claims.

Strengths:The bottle keeps my water cold 3 to 4 times longer, especially if i also put ice in it. The insulation works great for hot days. The valve is wonderful, you never have to struggle to get it open and it can be easily taken apart for cleaning.
Weaknesses:The bottle is great for riders who only consume 1 or 2 bottles of water, otherwise I would strongly suggest a back pack.
Similar Products Used:Tons of generic bike bottles.
Bike Setup:Trek 1500 road bike
Bottom Line:The Polar Bottle is a fantastic water bottle. The price is great and so is the quality. The bottle is very "consumer friendly" with it's easy to open mouth valve and easy cleaning. The insulation keeps any beverage cold for hours. The bottle is also lightweight and fits easily into almost any bike bottle holder or pack. The bottle is especially good for short to medium rides.

Camelback
Bottom Line:I usually carry two of these with a smaller 21-oz third bottle mounted on the stem in hot weather. My 'hot' weather runs up to 110 degrees F in summer. I use them because they keep water cooler longer than any other type of bottle, are easily filled with ice cubes, don't crack when frozen, and they are tight - I've never had any leaks. Buy them on sale to save $$.

The Polar bottle could stand to hold more & I will probably switch to Camelbacks because I can get them in 100oz. capacity. But i really hate that heavy hot thing sweating against my back and its top-heavy feeling when I'm out riding.

Bottom Line:I used one of these all summer and have just ordered a backback type system. I finally got sick of running out of water halfway though the trip. If you need to use a water bottle, this one works great. The insulation keeps your drink cooler than non insulated bottles but it's not like a thermos. Your water will still get warm, it just takes longer to get that way. I have had no problems with this bottle at all. I'm giving it 4 chilis overall because I think the backpack system is the way to go if you can afford it.

Bottom Line:I bought this bottle because the packaging claimed it would keep fluids cold for a least 2 hours. I live in Texas where in the summer time your looking at 100 degrees + temps and even with cubes in the bottle my fluids are warm in 30-40 minutes. I have also had a problem with the pull valve on the lid; it doesn't close all the way unless it's heated with hot water and consequently it leaks a little. I have decided it's time to buy camelbak instead.

Strengths:after using your average traditional water bottles, i wantted to find something that would keep the water cold for hours, so i began looking into insulated water bottles. every bottle i tried sucked, until i bought the polar water bottle. i was recently riding in 85degree weather(with humidity 91degrees)and the water stayed cold for three hours.
Weaknesses:if you don't make a gasket for the lid, it's going to leak. you would think that polar co. would have thought of that while testing it. i guess they were too concerned with the insulation for now.

Bottom Line:Great bottle, keeps you stuff cold for hours. Good size, etc. I only have one suggestion. You better clean these babies out as soon as you finish riding, if you use anything besides water. The inside of the bottles are not smooth, they have tons of little pots inside. If you do not clean them and you get some caked on mold, clean-up is almost impossible without a bunch of pipe-cleaners. There are just too many places for mold to hide on the inside.

Now, I have had mine for over 3 years, hopefully the newer models are better.

Weaknesses:Materials used for the mouth spout. Should be more impervious to stains etc.
Bottom Line:I too had the top crack around the stem but after a phone call I was sent a replacement top. The new top now has a light green stem that can be removed for cleaning. The top needs regular cleanings, as mold forms easily inside the sliding stem. The white top cleans relatively easy but the green stem gets embeded stains from ( mold?) which cannot be cleaned with soap and strong scrumming. The stem material appears to be somewhat porus and allows for staining. This material needs to be improved.

Love the Polar bottle. Filled to the brim with ice and then water, this thing stays cold for a long time, even in hot, humid Georgia. No nasty plastic taste, either. I also use mine at my desk at work during the week - easier to carry around the office than a glass. I only have two complaints so far: It is a little stiff to squeeze. I'm hoping it'll loosen up. The other problem is the logo paint. It cracks and comes off in little sticky pieces. Paint chips all over your hands, grips, etc. I'll be glad when all of it wears off. Gotta take away a chili for the paint.

If your'e looking for cold, polar bottle is your best bet. Ergonomically designed, this system will keep you hydrated for 4 plus hours of outdoor activity. Best to clean nipple with lemon juice and baking soda. This will keep the mildew away. A little tough to squeeze, but within time and constant use, it will begin to loosen up a bit. A bargain at 9 dollars at most outdoor recreation shops. Enjoy!!

This thing ROCKS, in the summers here in texas is usually gets above 110 degrees! With my regular bottle, the water stays cold for about 10 minuites, even if I freeze it! But with this bottle I can ride for 5+ hours and STILL have cold water. My first one did have a problem with the lid though after I crashed hard, the plastic bent and I couldnt get the top up or down, other than this, no problems!

At first I liked your bottle, as I bought it the first year it was on the market. Then shortly thereafter, I started having trouble with the nozzle. It kept getting stuck and I couldn't pull it out with my teeth. Then it wouldn't close all the way. I tried spraying all kinds of lubricants around the nozzle working it up and down. That didn't even help. I would appreciate it if the manufacturer could send me a new lid for my bottle, or tell me what to do! I've tried everything. I couldn't find a place on this web page to e-mail anyone about this problem.

Cold.......Let me tell ya somethin....This is one of the best buys I have made for under ten bucks since sliced bread hit the market. Living in Florida, alot of my daytime riding is done in 90-100 degree heat and this baby keeps my beverage cool all the way home. My other bottle has melted the ice, and is luke warm by the end of the first mile. Hell, this babies so cold give me 5 chiles to warm back up.

I started using the Polar bottle when the only rider whose bottle was not frozen solid halfway into a January 1st ride was using a Polar Bottle. Polar bottles stay liquid 2-3 times longer than standard bottles in cold New England winters. Yes they also can be used for summer riding and liquids stay cool longer, but the winter is the biggest payoff for me, on road rides. They do not leak any more than other bottles and have a mouth wide enough to accept scoops of powered drink mix or whole ice cubes. The only shortcoming is after 1-1/2 yrs of continuous year round use the nipples are stiff, but replacement caps are available.

I got these on sale at REI for 5 bucks each and I must say, they worked pretty good. I used them on a 78 mile road ride through Death Valley, and my drinks stayed reasonably cool and didn't have any of that plastic taste. Plus, I think they look cool. Not bad for the money.

This bottle is only about a half step above a regular water bottle. Even with ice in the bottle the best you can hope for is that the water isn't warm after 20 or 30 minutes of riding. Also the screw top leaks. A freind of mine has a Zefal insulated bottle. Three hours after finishing his water the ice cubes still hadn't melted.

Big, great insulation, heat-reflecting, and no plastic taste make this the best hiking or biking bottle I've ever had. The only drawback is that it is a little hard to squeeze, but I think that is due to the insulation. Keeps ice cubes frozen for hours in the sun. Also good for the beach. This one gets my top rating until (if) I find a better one.

I've got two of em'. They work way better than any other water bottle I have tried at keeping drinks cool. I also love the grooves in the side that keep it in my cage, even when I am going over logs and rocks. BUY THIS BOTTLE IF YOU LIVE IN TEXAS!!!!!!!!! 5 of those pepper things

I bought my first Polar when I started riding last year. I then bought a second bottle and installed another holder. This is not a thermos bottle, but with ice it certainly beats any standard bottle for keeping water cool longer. I have been on the trail for 3 hours in 90+ weather and altho not cold - the water was still cool. Well worth the money!

A bottle is a bottle! Most folks hear this and don't give much thought
to water bottles, like I did once. However, the Polar bottle does a good
job of keeping your fluids reasonably cold, far superior over an uninsulated jug. And most of the time you won't need it to hold cold fluids beyond an
hour, particularly if you ride on hot and hellish dayrides. I've also got
a hydration pack as well, but for those times that I don't want to lug a
bag on my back, I fill two Polar bottles to the brim with ice cubes and
an energy drink, then I'm set for a couple of hours. If I need to, I'll
refill somewhere along the way, (obviously not possible when I'm out in
the deep brush, then I take my hydration pak as well). Hey, for 9 bucks,
just buy it...

This is a (lightly) insulated, 24oz. water bottle. Having suffered through many, many bottles over 25 years of road and 1 year of mountain biking, this one is about the best that I have used. If packed with ice and then filled with water, this bottle manages to keep the water drinkably cool even after two hours of 90+ degree weather. The indentations on the sides allow for an easy, positive grip and lock against the upper rear portion of the bottle cage to keep it secure. I have yet to have the bottle flip out of the cage. The insulation keeps the bottle from sweating and prevents the road dust/dirt from turning into mud. The top screws on rather than presses on so a dropped bottle will not water the trail instead of supplying water for the cyclist. Of particular note about this bottle: the nozzle is large and is easily pulled out without losing teeth or resorting to two hands and an aaauugghh like some that I've owned. The wide nozzle allows a generous, even flow of liquid. I intend to add a second Polar Bottle for longer rides. I payed $9.95 at Race Pace in Westminster, MD (great shop by the way!), although I have seen them in the catalogs for a buck or two cheaper. This one of the few times that I thought I got alot more than my money's worth. In the long run it may not prove to be as bomb proof as my Nalgene Lexan bottles, but it certainly is well made, keeps the water cold for extended periods, and is a pleasure to use. Five chili's +!
