Strengths: - holds a lot of water (4 litres, or just over 1 U.S. gallon)
- has a lot of storage capacity
- many small pockets make it easy to access tools, etc, without emptying out bag
- doesn't shift around when the terrain is rough
- padded shoulder straps; comfortable
- good priceWeaknesses: - a bit on the heavy side (defintely weighs more than 250 grams when empty)
- doesn't have the "name brand" flash to it (as if I care)Bottom Line: I am very pleased with this hydration pack. The reservoirs (2 X 2 liter) are easy to clean and fill, and the water never has that 'plasticky' taste. The bite valves have a good flow, and if you ever need to replace them, they only cost about $6.00 (Cdn).
As for the pack itself, wow, it has a lot of storage. I used it for a three day road ride, and I had room for two changes of clothing, granola bars, toiletries, plus the usual tools, two innertubes, pump, and etc. The side pockets are great for tools and other small gear. The part of the pack that comes in contact with your back has vent mesh, so you won't overheat.
The bottom line: If I ever need to buy another high capacity hydration pack (and this one is durable, so I don't see that happening), I'll be back at Mountain Equipment Co-op in a flash.
Please note: the $60.00 price for the product is in U.S. funds. Just over $90.00 Canadian.
