from Milwaukee, WI Date Reviewed: September 17, 2008 | | Favorite Trail: | Blue Mound and Levis Trow | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Purchased At: | ERGON | | Strengths: | Amazing system. Fits great. Stays out of your mind while on the trail. Perfect for all weather century rides that take all day. Rain Fly works awesome. | | Weaknesses: | no pockets on the hip supports. I found myself attaching camera case type pockets at the hip belt for on-the-fly access. | | Similar Products Used: | Jansport Hydration systems. | | Bike Setup: | Bianchi Roger for Trans-Iowa. Trek 69er for Endurance MTB. | | Bottom Line: | This pack took me past 11 hours of self supported Trans Iowa hell. By the time Checkpoint 1 came around, it wasn't the BD1 that made me pull the plug.
This pack will be on my back for Trans Iowa again in 2009. Nuff Said. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$130.00 | | Purchased At: | Beyond Outside, Inc. | | Strengths: | Very comfortable. Nice wide straps. Almost forget that you are wearing it. | | Weaknesses: | Hydration bladder not included. | | Similar Products Used: | Camelbak HAWG. Camelbak MULE. | | Bike Setup: | 2008 Trek Fuel EX8, 2007 Trek Fuel EX8, 2006 Trek 6500 | | Bottom Line: | It's a good overall pack however, it doesn't have the seperate compartments like Camelbaks have. There is not a seperate, padded compartment for a bladder which means that it could get punctured by what you store in your pack. Not easy to keep stored items organized. I still have my Camelbaks so look for my Ergon pack on eBay soon! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$150.00 | | Purchased At: | Ergon | | Strengths: | Suspension design, adjustable - can be custom fit for individual body size, overall quality, details, unique look/design. | | Weaknesses: | Doesn't come with a hydration bladder. | | Similar Products Used: | CamelBak HAWG, Deuter Race X Air, Hydrapak Big Sur. | | Bike Setup: | Intense 5.5, SRAM XO, Avid Juicy Carbon, Mavic Crossmax XL, Thompson stem/post, | | Bottom Line: | Amazing suspension that moves with your body, keeps the pack off your back and makes big loads disappear. Tons of pockets that make it easy to organize your stuff.
It's larger size makes you think it might be too unwieldy for mt. biking, but once you give it a spin, it's incredible how effortless it is to carry epic-size loads. I've used it for all day rides and still can't believe how effortlessly the Ergon allows you to carry a heavy load. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
