Submitted by Ben Woodard a Racer from Pleasanton
Date Reviewed: December 13, 2006
Favorite Trail:Pleasanton Ridge
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:Solid construction. Stable even during a sprint.
Weaknesses:Nowhere near enough resistance.
Bike Setup:700c
Bottom Line:Not enough resistance. I tend to cruise in the bottom half of my big chain ring and I run out of gears in sprints.
I had to fix the magnetic mechanism twice the bolt holding the magnet got loose but it was an easy fix.

Submitted by Michael a Weekend Warrior from Los Angeles, CA, USA
Date Reviewed: September 9, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $160.00
Purchased At:I Martin Imports
Strengths:Easy setup. Basic controls.
Weaknesses:Nowhere NEAR enough resistance. I'm in my lowest gear and breezing along. Go with a fluid trainer. Loud. Not impressively stable.
Similar Products Used:PerformanceBikes fluid trainer
Bike Setup:Klein Quantum Race/Ultegra, Colnago C40/Record/Mavic, Trek 8000/LX
Bottom Line:Not really impressed. I'm going to try something else. Buy it if you don't have a lot of power.

Submitted by graham timshaw a from danville californ-i-a
Date Reviewed: December 20, 2002
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Probably the best trainer for the buck.
Weaknesses:Doesn't work with my 650c wheel bike.
Similar Products Used:cyclops, minoura
Bike Setup:cannondale caad6si
Bottom Line:Plenty of resistance with three settings. In the hardest setting, I can't spin at 90rpm in a 53/15 for more than a few minutes before I'm wasted, and I'm pretty fit (cat 2 roadracer). I like the frame, it feels way more stable than the Cyclops and doesn't have any cheap parts on it, it seems really well made. And it doesn't leak or blow up like the cyclops fluid crap. Blackburn always makes great stuff, and when their fluid trainer is available, I'm going to get one of those.

Submitted by Reyedr a Cross Country Rider from Fair Oaks, CA, USA
Date Reviewed: December 11, 2002
Favorite Trail:Downieville Big Boulder
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $169.00
Strengths:Worked for 10 minutes.
Weaknesses:10 minutes of riding and it started a burning smell. Tried adjusting the fly wheel. No luck! Loud and didn't provide enough resistance to get my heart rate up above 140. I'm in avg to decent shape.
Similar Products Used:CycleOps Magneto - returned Blackburn, and I'm trying this one now.
Bike Setup:Don't laugh: GT Avalanche LE Single speed 32/16, Marz, Deore, other mid range stuff. Rides like a dream!!! Oh, and a Jamis Steal road bike.
Bottom Line:I don't recommend this trainer to anyone. Sorry, no chillis. Very disappointing.
