Strengths: This product makes for very easy separation of chains with master links. The hooked jaws hold the link in place as you squeeze the handles. For SRAM Power-link style links, press in on the plates with your other hand while squeezing the pliers to release.
I also found it an asset for reconnecting a chain being tensioned by the rear derailer. Hook the links in the jaws to hold the chain in place, and use your other hand to align the pins in the holes.
Item is well constructed of steel, with a self-locking nut and bolt for the pivot, and comfortable havy-duty rubberized grips.Weaknesses: none.Bottom Line: Well worth the cost for anyone who wants to make it as easy as possible to remove your chain for frequent cleaning and longest life. If it's easy to do, you will do it more often!
