Strengths: This 3rd hand is well covered with vinyl to protect a bike's paint job. It's also nicely made.Weaknesses: Very awkward to use and doesn't have a positive feel once in place. The Quick Grip (by visegrip) mentioned by another reviewer is better solution.Bottom Line: The BT-5 is not typical of the excellent design for which Park Tool is known. I will take a look at the Quick Grip. I've handled them before and they're lightweight (a fraction of the BT-5), can be finely adjusted (difficult with the BT-5) and quickly released. And besides, you'll also have a very nice little clamp for other purposes.
Duration Product Used: Tested or demo'ed only
Similar Products Used: spring-type 3rd hands which don't have a wide adjustment range
Bike Setup: a Nishiki Colorado mtn bike and a Lemond Wayzata.

Strengths: sturdy, comfortable grip.Weaknesses: Not so easy to use. It didn't make adjusting the brakes much more simple.Bottom Line: I had one of these tools for about a year, but it was stolen. It wasn't as easy to use as I had hoped. It didn't always stay in place when setting the brake pads and it was a hassle to tighten the nut while trying to hold it in place.
After it was stolen, I replaced it with a Quick Grip mini bar clamp, which is manufactured by Vise-Grip. It's not a bicycle specific tool, but it stays in place better, holds better, is easier to use, and cost less. They can be found in just about any hardware store. If you do a lot of brake adjustments, especially on older mountain bikes or road bikes, it's indispensable.

Bike Setup: A third hand type tool is very useful on bikes with center pull cantilever brakes and caliper style brakes
