Strengths: Strong, built to last, must-have tool.Weaknesses: Not compatible with every set up.Bottom Line: For those of you who might not be familiar with spot facing tools for disk brakes, come on out of your caves. So many shops and riders don’t realize that when frames are manufactured, the disk brake tabs on the frame come out of alignment due to the heat of welds. It’s unavoidable, but it means the disks and the calipers will be out of alignment and never work to their top performance. This CTS tool is the best, it gets rid of the squeaks and improper wear that come with misaligned brake calipers. I could honestly not believe how much better my brakes felt and performed. High quality, effective, and accurate tool, this would probably be great for shop owners who want a fast way to set up bikes the right way.
Many shops put bikes together without even checking the alignment of disk brakes tabs. I have seen countless times where bikes are assembled without using a spot facing tool, brake noise and uneven pad wear is completely ignored and passed on to the customer.
This tool is top-notch. Even after use on 40+ bikes it has not dulled, all the parts are strong, accurately made, and built to last.
It would be nice if this tool would be compatible with all rear end spacings and different through axel setups. But it is still a must-have tool.
