Where To Buy

Date Reviewed: July 16, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $14.00
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:Cheap, reliable, can switch between valve types, comes with mounting bracket.
Weaknesses:Not the fastest, lightest, or strongest pump out there.
Bottom Line:You get what you pay for with this pump. It's dependable, it works like it's supposed to, and as a plus, it can fit both Presta and Schrader valves with a ten-second adjustment. It may not be the lightest or strongest or sexiest pump on the market, but it will do the job. A great buy as long as you're not the kind who counts individual grams. And it's only around 15 bucks or so, depending on where you get it.

My one gripe is that the folding handle sometimes feels a little weak when it's folded out and you're pushing hard on it, but if you don't like the feeling you can use it folded against the pump shaft. Not a major concern.

Favorite Trail:Anything with lots of climbing
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $10.00
Purchased At:Supergo
Strengths:Durable, effective, lightweight, small
Weaknesses:Like nearly all frame pumps of this kind, a pain to use
Similar Products Used:Topeak Mountain Morph
Bike Setup:Rockhopper frame, LX everything else
Bottom Line:Any of the Topeak Morph pumps are a lot easier to use and I recommend those above this for nearly every situation. This pump does work, though, and it's darn hard to break. It's very small and lightweight so I don't mind carrying it in races, and it does pump up tubes (both high volume and high pressure) surprisingly well. 4 Chilis because it's not the best, but it's still very good. 5 on value, because the thing is dirt cheap.
