Date Reviewed: December 4, 2008
Favorite Trail:TRTP
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Bike Line (LBS)
Strengths:It works. Park tech support is solid.
Weaknesses:None for the price.
Similar Products Used:Topeak Joe Blow, Performance Hurricaine, various no-name pumps
Bike Setup:IH Hollowpoint (LX/XT set-up), Cannondale & Specialized roadies.
Bottom Line:The pump just works. Gauge is reasonable accurate (+/- <5%). Dropped pump on concrete floor & busted gauge. Called Park to buy new gauge but they sent replacement (along with revised head piece) for free. No better pump or support for the price. BTW- I like my Topeak Joe Blo Pro a little better, but then it's way more $$$.

Favorite Trail:North Country Trail Tippy Dam
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $39.00
Purchased At:Rock N Road Cycle
Strengths:Easy to switch between valve stem types
Weaknesses:Cheap feet that flex when using pump. Leaked air after three months of use.
Similar Products Used:Cheap discount store pump that lasted 12 years without any maintenance.
Bike Setup:Diamondback XR8
Bottom Line:After about 2 1/2 months of non heavy use the pump started leaking air. Local bike shop rebuilt pump, after about 1 1/2 months of minimal use pump started leaking again. Park Tools sent new ring for air chamber didn't fix problem so they sent a new pump that I just received. Service was great from Park Tools, but don't have much faith based on other reviews this will last. Had a bad feeling about this after first couple of uses the way the feet woobled. Park should abandon pumps if they can't produce something better than this. Other products they make are great. Would not buy another one.

Date Reviewed: May 14, 2007
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Parktool name with a cheap price tag.
Weaknesses:Inaccurate gauge; poor durability; hard to use pump head.
Similar Products Used:Parktool PFP-2
Bottom Line:The gauge became inaccurate (the needle hangs around 5 psi, won't go back to 0) after about 6 months use, and now the whole pump is broken. I definitely won't recommend this pump.

Submitted by Gabe a Cross Country Rider from Port Washington, WI, USA
Date Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:It says "Park Tool" on the side.
Has a pressure gauge and easily switches from presta to schrader.
Weaknesses:Difficulty reaching high pressures.
Poor durability.
Hard to use valve clamp.
Similar Products Used:Gary Fisher pump (probably re-branded product).
Cheapo Wal Mart pump.
Bike Setup:Giant VT-1, Crossmax XL, Sram XO, Manitou Minute 2:00, Manitou Swinger 4-way Air, Hayes El Camino.
1998 Schwinn Moab 1 hardtail.
Trek T1000 road tandem.
Sun beach cruiser tandem.
Bottom Line:Park Tool usually makes good quality stuff, so I don't know what happened with this pump. The valve clamp is hard to use because the lever is longer than the clamp body, so you end up yanking on the hose to tighten the clamp. When you un-clamp it, the rubber seal wedges itself between the valve stem and the plastic clamp body and makes it hard to pull off of the valve stem. You end up losing a couple of psi while you struggle to remove the clamp from the valve stem. I use this pump for all of my bikes - from 30 psi to 120 psi. After using this pump for about a month, I started having difficulty getting over 100 psi and after another month, the plastic piece at the base cracked and leaked air on every stroke. I would not buy this pump again if I had the choice.
