Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:none...
Weaknesses:annoying all around. I bought this pump to inflate my presta valve tubes. This pump refuses to let go of the valve once the tire is inflated. the ONLY way to get the pump free is to twist it, which bends or breaks the valve 9 out of 10 times. I've gone through mroe tubes for broken or bent valves than for flats. Given that I ride on some pretty aweful streets in the Boston area that is really saying something. Specialized and countless others make a much better, more reliable product. at least for presta valves...
Bottom Line:dont get this pump if you have presta valves...

Purchased At:niagaracycle.com
Strengths:Readable gauge, good seal on schrader at least
Weaknesses:tips over easily
Similar Products Used:$10 crap from K-mart
Bike Setup:road
Bottom Line:Has been good to me so far. I don't pump over 80psi, though. I usually store it in the already-tipped-over position, because it will wind up that way anyway.

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Penn Cycle
Strengths:Attractive, well-built pump for a good price. Good pump until it failed.
Weaknesses:It's a $30 pump. Tips easily (like many pumps in this price range). Uses a segment 8 mm pneumatic tubing instead of more common 10 mm in crucial spot.
Similar Products Used:Specialized Air Tool Pro, numerous mini pumps.
Bike Setup:2006 Specialized Roubaix Pro carbon/full 105/Ultegra mix/Flight Deck/FSA Gossamer/Mega Exo/Mavic Open Pro/Continental GP 4000/Light & Motion Vega (awesome!)
Bottom Line:After two years of careful use, a section of pneumatic tubing in burst. No biggie, right? Bike shops carry loads of the stuff.

Unfortunately, while most pumps use 10 mm tubing (including a majority of this one, actually), the small section of connector tubing that burst is 8 mm.

My LBS had plenty of 10 mm lying around, but no 8 mm. So we looked up its part number the Park Tool web site and attempted to ordered it from the company (the company is headquartered about 5 miles from here in St. Paul.) My LBS considered this a bit of a long shot, as the part was cheap, somewhat incidental, and didn't show up on their list of orderable parts.

I checked up with my LBS a few times over the next month, and the part never arrived. I'm now calling hardware stores and pneumatic-hose distributors trying to find this 10-cent headache.

I should mention also that the gauge was damaged (broke plexiglass window) after one of many tipping episodes. The unit has an unstable base and falls easily when left unattended.

I really like Park Tool and its DYI ethic, but my experience with this pump is disappointing, not because the pump didn't work (it did), or that hose blew after two years (it happens), but because I, apparently, can't purchase a cheap replacement part that would restore the pump's function.

Why should I throw away a perfectly good pump because the company can't provide a 4-inch length of hose? I shouldn't. But in an era when it seems every consumer product is manufactured under "if it breaks, just buy another" philosophy, I seek companies that build products that are servicable and built to last.

By that measure, this isn't a Park Tool brand pump, it's just a pump like any other.

Favorite Trail:Schultz Creek, Flagstaff AZ
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:Wally's Bike Shop
Strengths:Brand name, accurate & legible gauge, good capacity
Weaknesses:will not seal on Presta valve stems, tippy
Similar Products Used:Silca, Specialized, Blackburn
Bottom Line:A great disappointment: I've owned this pump for about one month and after maybe two dozen uses it no longer seals on a presta valve. Other pumps (Specialized, for instance) provide a quick and easy method of compressing the rubber seal to stop leakage but Park's PFP-3 lacks that simple convenience.

As luck would have it, I found an old Specialized pump head and hose and have grafted it onto my Park...voila, it works. Now THAT is customer service!

But as is, I cannot recommend the Park PFP-3 at all. It is a blight on the good Park name.

Price Paid: $20.00
Strengths:It has a gauge and pumps air.
Weaknesses:It is difficult to seat the valve stem. After a short time the gauge quits reading accuratly. After a slightly longer short time the seals in the pump wear out and it inflates tubes very slowly.
Similar Products Used:PFP-2
Bottom Line:We have two of these in our shop and neither work properly. I wouldn't buy one.

Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Stable base
Readable gauge
Weaknesses:Cheap and poorly made
Similar Products Used:Blackburn
Bike Setup:Road bike (sorry)
Bottom Line:It's so flimsy and insubstantial that you're just waiting for it to break as soon as you pull it out of the box for the first time. I think I filled my tires three times before the valve seal blew out for good. Air just whistles through the head now. Yup, you really do get what you pay for. It may cost less, but you will invest more time and aggravation in the end. Please look elsewhere.

Strengths:The pump works well. It is easy to use and pumps up my road tires quite easily. The gauge (although mounted somewhat low) is fairly easy to read.
Weaknesses:It doesn't stand by itself real well. The head is the same as the Nashbar pump that I owned previously (which had given me problems) but it works better.
Similar Products Used:Nashbar
Bike Setup:Canondale Road, Schwinn Moab 1 mountain bike
Bottom Line:It is a good pump that gets the job done. It is reliable and works like a charm.

FANTASTIC customer service.
Weaknesses:Product valve after a good amount of time did fail. Could use a wider base.
Similar Products Used:Department store purchased pumps. Morph pumps Topek (good) and German made Sigma Sport (poor)
Bike Setup:3 different mountain road and cross.
Bottom Line:Product did have a problem, emailed customer service got a response THAT day. Got a resolution sent to me with out hassle without a fuss. Would purchase park again perhaps next time a higher end pump.

Giving it 5 + 5 due very inexpensive pump + great customers service I recieved.

Favorite Trail:Trail of Tears
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Price Point, I think
Strengths:Compact, light
Weaknesses:Everything else. Small barrel take a long time to fill up road tires, doesn't like to stand on its own, pressure gauge and hose move around, and the worst part is the dual action head that doesn't like to seat properly.
Similar Products Used:Blackburn
Bike Setup:2001 Giant XTC hard tail- custom built from ground up. 2005 Cannondale R700, stock except for cane creek wheels (of course).
Bottom Line:The bottom line is that I got so frustrated with this pump that I smashed it into little pieces. Sounds immature, I know, but when all you want to do is fill up your presta valve tubes and ride, and this pump won't allow you to, you get pretty frustrated pretty quick. It would take me a minimum of 8-10 tries to get the dual head seated and locked on each tire so that I could actually fill my tires with air. I never had this problem with any other pump. I used my blackburn for 8 years and had this happen to me maybe twice. If I were you, I'd spend the extra $10 and get anything but a Park.

Strengths:See my first review this is a follow up on Park Tools outstanding customer service.
Weaknesses:my problems were all fixed with the aid of GREAT customer service.
Similar Products Used:no name stuff
Bike Setup:Same
Bottom Line:I put a call in to Park Tools and was extremly please with their outstanding customer service. I spoke to Mark at Park tool and he talked me through taking my pump apart and looking in the lower Ball Valve.
I had previously looked on the Park website which has instructions on rebuilding your floor pump and swapping out the seals and pump head gaskets... After these were follwed and my problem still troubled my pump I call customer service. I could acutally hear Mark taking a pump apart as he talked me through one of the repairs step by step.
As he suspected a small peice of plastic had gotten into my lower ball valve which caused the back flow of air.
He also shipped out a new Pressure gauge that very same day for free. I recieved it in just two days and my pump is better than new.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! 5 chillis all around!
here is to getting my pump up and running with no cost to me. All this for their lower end pump model. Thanks park tools!

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $24.00
Purchased At:Cycle path in Portland ,OR
Strengths:Pumps fast, accurate gauge, works well with presta and schrader valve stems.
Weaknesses:after a year of near flawless use I was pumping my road tires up and I heard a small "pop"! The back flow valve within the pressure gauge broke - now it lets air back into the pump and it won't take a pressure reading. The handle acually lifts from the air pressure coming backing into the pump from the tire.
Similar Products Used:junk from wall mart for 10$
Bike Setup:it has tires that I need to pump
Bottom Line:This was a great pump till it broke. I never abused it or beat on it. I have a call into Park tool lets see if they will take it back or fix it. Other than the problem sated in the product weaknesses I loved this floor pump. a good pump with an accurate gauge for cheap. 5 chillis for value 2 for over all. I will post again once I get the word from Park.

Strengths:Went from 100 to 120 lbs in 3-5 strokes. Locking head holds beautifully, and has 2 ports (for presta and schraeder). Gauge is very easy to read
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Have had Silca "basic" track pump for many years...head held on poorly, and it was a real workout to get the tire pumped.
Bike Setup:road bike
Bottom Line:This is a beautiful pump to use! I can save my energy for the ride instead of using it up trying to pump the tires. I would recommend it to any cyclist, big muscled male to tiny female (or vice versa).
