$8.00 | | Purchased At: | Grocery Outlet | | Strengths: | It works and the flavor isn't overwhelming. Encourages more drinking of fluids. Lower sodium content than most sports drinks and higher potassium than most sports drinks | | Weaknesses: | Not my favorite of the energy drinks | | Similar Products Used: | GUO2, Cytomax, Accelerade | | Bottom Line: | Saw this at a grocery outlet for only $8 for a 44oz container of mix. It was expired, but I figured "what the hell". Turns out, it works quite well. Not my favorite flavor (not sure if it being expired affects this or not) but certainly palatable. Can't complain, gives me a little extra boot and contains a good amount of potassium to prevent cramping. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Single best product I ever found, if you are not looking for added stimulents/caffeine or protein. | | Weaknesses: | None, other than no longer available. | | Similar Products Used: | Accelerade | | Bottom Line: | Anyone know why discontinued? While I like Accelerade for long rides, due to 4:1 Protein, Hydra-Fuel was still the best to counteract heavy sweating/fluid loss for intense hot weather events. Best similar alternative? | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Date Reviewed: August 19, 2005 | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Strengths: | I think Twin Lab Hydra Fuel is an excellent product that tastes reasonable and is not "heavy" like other competing products. | | Weaknesses: | Unfortunately, Twin Lab stopped making Hydra Fuel at least two years ago. | | Bottom Line: | Great product. I wish they would make it again. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Date Reviewed: August 8, 2004 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | Various Local Health Stores | | Strengths: | Taste, Energy Release, Cost | | Weaknesses: | Hard to Find, Not made anymore? | | Similar Products Used: | Cytomax, Extran, Gatorade, Powerade, Power Bar Endurance Drink | | Bike Setup: | One Full Suspension MTB, and Old Scott Hardtail MTB and a road bike. | | Bottom Line: | I've tried all the flavors of HydraFuel and like them all. The labeling on the container mentions that all of the Carbos are Sugar but I don't think that's correct because it has Maltodextrin. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is a slow burning carbo which is not technically a sugar. In any event, this drink provides both fast and slow buring carbos which keeps me fueled for long races and rides. The drink does not have a super high salt content but I've found that to be fine by me. It tastes good and the cost is very reasonable considering how many uses you can get out of one 44 oz container. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$14.00 | | Purchased At: | Burlingame, CA | | Strengths: | It realy works for me, and doesn't fill me up. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bottom Line: | I first used Hydra Fuel when playing tennis, and I noticed the difference compared to just driking water. I really helps my stamina. Since it is powder I can adjust the mixture to my liking. I like the punch flavor. I learned about it when someone asked what Pete Sampras was drinkin during the game, published by Tennis Magazine. It's too bad I heard it is being discontinued. I hope not. But it's now hard to find. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Berkeley, CA Date Reviewed: December 6, 1999 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Strengths: | tasty, cheap, effective, multiple flavors | | Weaknesses: | not as ubiquitous as Gatorade | | Similar Products Used: | Gatorade, Powerbar Perform, Safeway Winner, Exceed, Cytomax | | Bottom Line: | This stuff rocks. When I was rowing in college, I would drink a ton of this stuff. It made a huge difference, during practice and during races. Nothing I've tried gives as much bang for the buck, nor tastes as good an hour into a super-sweaty practice. I see no reason to switch to anything else, although the Perform powder has some great stuff in it... | Overall Rating: |

Beats the crap out of Gatorade in all aspects. | Overall Rating: |

This tells me my body is using all of it. bottom line it works and if it tasted like bass ale I would give it five stars. | Overall Rating: |
