ACCELERADE is the most significant advance in sports drink research in 35 years. Developed by leading exercise physiologists, ACCELERADE is the first sports drink that provides rapid hydration plus the added benefits of all natural protein to re-energize muscles during exercise and help muscles recover faster after exercise. Only ACCELERADE contains the patented 4-1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein to speed the movement of carbohydrate energy into muscles. Studies at leading sports science labs show that protein-powdered ACCELERADE extends endurance up to 24% compared to a conventional sports drink and up to 57% compared to water. If you're serious about your exercise, advance to ACCELERADE.

I cant understand these bad reviews this stuff gets. I am a extremely picky person when it comes to things like this (especially with the taste) but me and my wife both love this product. No stomach issues at all...love the taste (Orange). Definitely recommend this product

Weaknesses: Consistently caused a terrible gut ache.
Bottom Line:
I tried this product a few times, but each use put my stomach in knots. I initially thought it could be an anomaly, but the results were always the same -- a terrible gut ache. I threw the rest in the trash.

Weaknesses: Taste, Hard to digest, GI track issues
Bottom Line:
I tried these products do the promise of improved recovery, however just like the last guy I could not tolerate them. The smell and taste was really bad and they made me feel sick.
Try Formula X Sport, this product provides energy and high quality Isolate protein that is soluble and very light in taste. This product is a little expensive but no problems with GI track issues and the taste is very mild; like drinking flavored water.

Complete junk. I bought these due to their marketing for an endurance race. My first mistake was not trying it out before the race.
This stuff gave me very bad gastrointestinal...distress all during the race. Not until I switched to gatorade did it stop.
My second mistake was not reading the ingredients before using it. After the gastrointestinal problems, I look at the label and the number 1 ingredient is....regular table sugar. Not dextrose, or maltodextrin, regular old sucrose.
The type of protein that is used in it (highly touted as a benefit) is the lowest grade of protein available (concentrate) which is probably what caused the gastrointestinal distress.
This in an expensive premium athletic supplement and there is no excuse for these pathetic ingredients. Dont buy this garbage.

Strengths: 4:1 Carb to Protein Ration
Weaknesses: King of heavy for bottels and hard to clean. Taste is no that good either, but I can live with it.
Bottom Line:
Actually I switched from using this product while riding my bike to using it at the gym. I train at the gym 3 times a week, resting one or two day and then riding 2 straight days on weekends, and it has really helped me during heavy and intense training. I can push myself longer and harder at the gym and that has translated to faster and longer rides on my bike. On my bike I'm using now water and Accelerade Gels and this combination is doing wonders for me. Definitley a must if you have a routine like mine, since muscles get way too fatiged.

Strengths: Lives up to its promises. Provides endurance enhancement and rapid hydration.
Weaknesses: On race day I cannot use its complimentary Accel Gel, not enough sodium and my legs feel like lead weights if I don't compliment it with Power Bar Gels,
Bottom Line:
Great product. However, it really is a pre-ride and during ride drink that needs to be paired with Endorox for recovery post ride. I am a big system guy and the Acell Gel's poor production quality (half my box was paste like in consistency) and lack of sodium has me thinking about going Power Bar products all the way. But to be honest, so far it has more than lived up to its claims and that is something.
As for taste, are you kidding me? Buy a Snickers bar and drink a coke. If it works, deal with it.

Strengths: none that I can tell...doesn't work any better than cheaper and better tasting sports drinks
Weaknesses: Lemon-Lime? It doesn't taste anything like lemon-lime!
Nasty flavor, texture, and it upsets my stomach
Bottom Line:
in a word "BARF!"
This is the nastiest tasting sports drink I've ever tasted. Instead of promoting me drinking during a ride, it kept me from drinking. Thick consistency doesn't help either.
But the bottom line is this...I saw absolutely zero performance increases over other more tasty sports drinks...none. Why would I want to drink this crap when others like the GU product are soooo much more palatable?

Strengths: I have always used the Lime Flavor and I like the taste. Doesn't upset my stomach on long rides, no acid reflux like when I tried Gatorade and Powerade. Give me good energy and recovery on rides.
Weaknesses: none
Bottom Line:
Great product and price is very good. Products works great..
I like the taste a lot. I do not like the fruit punch, but I like tangy orange the best, but I also like lemon lime. When I am riding I like drinking accelerade as much as water, it tastes that good, but don't put it in camelbak. Bottle cage only.
Strengths: Decent electrolyte with not bad flavor.
Weaknesses: Isn't more effective than Gatorade.
Bottom Line:
I don't recommend Accelerade for these reasons:
1. Over priced. The product itself isn't bad, but Gatorade (powder form in canister) is a better choice for the dollar. I found that Gatorade hydrated me at the same rate as Accelerade on 90-95 degree 3-4 hour rides. I'm an avid cyclist that logs all my rides, and I definitely noticed that Gatorade=Accelerade, so I'm going to save some money and use Gatorade. 2. Protein? Accelerade's big thing is protein, but I really don't think that your body would metabolize protein in the middle of a ride that quickly. Eat protein during your recovery. 3. Doesn’t mix well. I have a CamelBak, and Accelerade doesn't mix very well - it leaves "globs" in the worst places (tube, corners of reservoir). 4. Mucous. Because of the globs, this forms mucous and that's irritating when breathing hard during exercise (has to be spit out). Note: I don’t drink milk, so it can’t be blamed on my diet.
Strengths: Good taste, well tolerated, price per serving, enough calories for most XC races
Bottom Line:
I've been using Accelerade for about 2 years in my bottles during races. I find that the amount of calories that it gives per bottle is about right for a lap of a typical cross country race. It contains enough electrolytes for short races assuming the temperatures are 80 or below. For hotter races, I need to supplement with something else to get enough electrolytes. I also find that my stomache tolerates accelerade well, even when I'm pegged and my stomache does not want anything in it.
If you haven't tried it yet, you should pick up a tin and experiment with it during a hard group ride or low priority race.

Strengths: Consistant energy flow, Reduction in cramping, Consistant Recovery affects
Weaknesses: Never quite mixes fully. Will leave a film (don't use in a Camelbak). Tastes like an energy drink
Bottom Line:
Works as described, Can be drank at either room temp or cold, but I prefer it ice cold. The mix will leave a film on everything, from your tounge to your water bottle, and is very hard to wash off - do not use in your camelbak. It provides a very consistent flow of energy which is necessary for Epic rides or XC racing.
