Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $85.00
Purchased At:Cartecay River Bicycle Shop
Strengths:The product works great! Highly recommend the Scottoiler.
Weaknesses:I am on my second pump bladder. Scottoiler shipped a new one out ASAP at no charge.
Similar Products Used:none

Bottom Line:This product Rocks! If you ride three to four times a week and like to keep your drive train clean this is the way to go. Pre prior planning prevents piss poor proformance on your drive train.

Favorite Trail:any long trail with technical singletrack
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Keeps drivetrain clean, quiet, smooth, & lubed. Improves drivetrain lifespan & performance while reducing maintenance.
Similar Products Used:Have used many other types of lubes, but the Scottoiler is the only lube *system* available.
Bike Setup:25lb full suspension cross country, complete XTR build.
Bottom Line:Bottom line is that this product really works as claimed. Drivetrain stays clean & chain stays thoroughly lubed at all times. Lube supplied with kit does not gunk up over time or turn into ugly black grime. Cleaning is a snap- just hose of with water. My chains/ drivetrains are lasting about 5 times longer since installing the Scottoiler. Highly recommended for anyone who 1)rides a lot of miles; 2)runs a high end (ie: expensive) drivetrain; or 3)rides in extreme or adverse conditions (mud, etc., the Scottoiler all but eliminates chainsuck)

Strengths:keeps drivetrain running smooth for loooong rides. Active Fluid lube does not gunk up.
Weaknesses:if you hang your bike upside down the reservoir can leak. just pay attention.
Similar Products Used:nothin else like it out there...
Bike Setup:Trek Fuel
Bottom Line:If you are an endurance racer this may be a required product esp for single loop events where you are not in the pits every hour. See my detailed review at www.ride424.com with pictures.

Date Reviewed: October 1, 2006
Favorite Trail:Ochils, Stirling
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Keeps chain super clean.
Seems to have reduced wear on other components.
Cuts down on cleaning time required (very important).
Means you always have lube with you out on the trail.
Chain is always lubed without having to remember before you start out.

Weaknesses:Can look untidy unless you're careful with the installation.
Similar Products Used:I used to use Finish Line Wet Lub (green top)
Bike Setup:Cotic Soul / Orange Five / Specialized Allez / Specialized Globe
Bottom Line:Once you've fitted a Scottoiler you'll wonder how you ever managed without one - it's one of those type of products. Another member who rides with me raved about his Scottoilers for the best part of a year before I relented - now I realise why he was so enthusiastic! I've fitted them to my 3 bikes plus the wife's commuter. They really do keep the chain sparkly (especially the road bike - yucky UK winter road grime, even throughout summer...), and it doesn't ever get sticky like it could with regular lubes. Even if it gets dirty all it needs to be cleaned with is water (and a brush if you're really anal about your cleaning...). Makes a massive difference after MTB night rides - just hose the bike down, a couple of squirts of active lube, and chuck the bike in the garage. So much quicker and less hassle.

Best addition I've made to my bike - I'm a convert ;-)
