Favorite Trail:Squamish-Dead End Loop
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $7.00
Purchased At:Mountain Equipment
Strengths:Works as advertised sticky, extremely slippery, and reduces friction and wear to almost zero.
Weaknesses:None, nada.
Similar Products Used:Finish line, Pedro's, Phil Wood's, etc.
Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Tazmon mostly XTR, Raceface, Blackspire etc.
Bottom Line:Have been using this stuff for a couple of years on Shimano hubs etc. Recently built up a set of wheels with Hugi hubs. The rear hub uses a star ratchet engagement system which is supposed to use a proprietary grease. Not having any I tried a lot of various lubricants and wasn't satisfied with the sound or, signs of wear when I disassembled the hub to inspect it. After cleaning the ratchet(s) and lubing liberally with EPX grease I was amazed at how quiet the hub had become. After i month of riding, I disassembled again to check for wear. None, absolutely. This is just another of the excellent products from Prolink. Get yourself some!

Date Reviewed: January 30, 2002
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $6.00
Purchased At:website
Strengths:This grease is the best! I'm constantly looking for products that are unmatched for my bike. This grease is very thick-it actually "spiderwebs" between your fingers when you press them togetherand pull them apart. Completely waterproof and with MFR, there's no bearing wear. By the way...it's red in color and coincidentally Chris King uses a red colored grease in his headsets. Hmmmmmmm...
Weaknesses:the funky applicator
Similar Products Used:Phil Wood, Finish Line, Pedros etc.
Bike Setup:Steel
Bottom Line:Read the product strengths above. A+ By the way DON'T EVER use this grease on stem/bar clamps and seatposts! With the MFR chemical, these will slip forever. The Progold guys told me about the only thing you can do is sand or scotchbrite the MFR coating off. This is strictly for components where metal on metal friction is the problem. Buy it!

Favorite Trail:cow paths, road climb
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $5.00
Purchased At:progoldmfr.com
Strengths:works great, simple package
Weaknesses:very thick -- sometimes makes it hard to apply
Similar Products Used:standard white lithium grease, Lubri-Plate, generic bearing grease
Bike Setup:old Mongoose Switchback 7spd ATB; 2000 Univega Modo Vincere road bike
Bottom Line:It's pricier than white lithium grease, for sure, but it's just as magical as their ProLink Chain Lube. I reserve this stuff for re-packing bearings and the like, and it works like a champ. I don't have any hard numbers, but it seems to result in "slippery-ier" bearings compared to WLG or Lubri-Plate. No experience yet with how it holds up under long-term use, but experience so far is good. If you're looking for something better than WLG and can afford it, give this stuff a try.
